    Re: Forum issues?

I'm having to click multiple times on a thread to open it.

I'm having to click multiple times on a reply to get a proper window I can type in.

I can't open several threads at the same time in different tabs, it's 50% hit or miss, with miss taking me back to the main forum section I was browsing, basically reloading the same page.

Yep, bonkers. Bringeth out thee Floggerths!!

Or maybe they just forgot to feed the forumhamsters their waffles?

Still getting masses of '400' errors, clicking the same link eventually gets through.

It's a new forum game, hunt the post!

It's been a year or so since we've seen this, I expect it will get fixed soon.

Crazy I can reply to a post but it will come up as an earlier post in this thread.

Apparently, this isn't quite true. News in launcher said that the game servers are down, so yes, game server maintenance there. However, it also said that forums and wiki should stay up, but players may not be able to log in. This quite clearly means there were some maintenance also related to forums, one way or another, and that part has gone horribly wrong.

They still are. Getting to the Dev Tracker page took me 11 clicks. Beat that. I tried to get there from the General Discussion area, and only thing that happened was that classic "&sp_login=1" being added to the end of url in address bar. It happened before, maybe few times a day and threw me back to the main forum listing, but never quite as often as now. Redirection seems to work better now - it doesn't throw me to a different page than where I was, but back to where I was. On the other hand, it works TOO well. It likes to redirect me back all the time. Darn. Not good.

I just had to quote this post to see where my reply is compared to this one. We'll see. My bet is on this post being finally found from the French forum section, within a completely unrelated thread. That's kinda how much I trust the system at the moment.

    Still experience same problems.

    Also saw this doing searches:

This forum requires that you wait 20 seconds between searches. Please try again in 14489 seconds.

Also saw errors about searches returning the entire database are a bad idea, when I was searching on my username...

I guess they mean 20 years between searches, but forgot to change that word!

Not sure what you guys are talking about. This forum has always logged me out randomly and failed to post messages just because...nothing new here.

New thing since yesterday's maintenance is that it keeps doing more than just logging out randomly or failing to post messages. It messes up timestamps, it gives whole new errors, throws users to random pages instead of into the thread or page of thread they want to go to... et cetera.

I have been active on various different forums, and within 15 years of using different forums, I've never seen any being messed up this badly, without any fixes being made. If you think of vBulletin specifically, I've never seen any being messed up like this one, no matter how many plugins or custom features were built into it.

Turbine has really created something etxraordinary - an extremely complex and as-difficult-to-use-as-humanly-possible forum system that also works as an excellent how-to for anyone willing to build their own. Oh, wait, I meant "how-not-to". That's the term I was looking for...

    Problems with Forums?

Ever since the forums were brought down for fixes or whatever yesterday, they have been acting up really bad. Whenever I click links they aren't working or bring me to incorrect pages, whenever I try to post on the forums I occasionally get a new screen that pops up and my comment does not register. And recently I posted on someone elses thread and somehow it registered my post before theres and it made me the thread creator.

Seriously, your game is broken with lag and stable glitching and whatnot, now the forums are too?

Heh heh.. Ironic that (sorry, I'm late to the party), I'm seeing this response as post 3 in the thread, and it's in response to a post about 7 posts later.. Funny that the poster is apparently not seeing what I'm seeing.. (or maybe he/she did AFTER posting.. I dunno..)

EDIT: Also ironic I had to attempt to post this about 3.7 times to actually get the forum to accept it.

    *sarcasm on*

I don't know what anyone is talking about. I have not noticed any issues. I just want to know where people have discovered time travel though. I have been seeing responses to my posts show up before my post does in a discussion. Now that's messed up.

Yea, I'm seeing all three of these issues too, but for me they've only started in the last couple days. It's really aggravating & is killing my interest in reading the forums.

Still hosed. Any updates to this report?

Multiple clicks required, clicking on 'General Discussion' often takes you to a previously viewed thread, posts out of order, posts lost or duplicated by forum editor errors, and so on.

Thanks for yesterday's note about this.

P.S. This one was also rejected by a 'token expired' page.

    Re: Forum issues?

A new issue appeared since last maintenance:
some of the post are scrambled in their own topics, duplicates of the same post appeared. and some posts are not arranged orderly (like it should be, based on the time of their creation). This doesn't affect every post in a given thread, but only 2-4/pages.

    Re: Forum issues?

the forums have been borked ever since they decided to integrate the game and forum accounts. that they've made it worse is not a shock.

dunno if this is new: i just did a search, clicked on a result link and... got my result list again. tried it again because previously i'd just had to click again. but no, got my result list again. copied the link into a new tab, which sent me to the forum home page.

if you're just browsing it's much easier to just log out. no issues with browsing, searching, etc., when logged out.

So much truth here. Broken game, broken forum. And they want us to stump up cash upfront for RoR? If they can't manage to maintain a forum that works as intended, or get it out of beta in two years, or a game that doesn't lag horribly, or make a raid from the last xpac work correctly many months later, it stands to reason the next expansion will be horribly broken too. As shadow said, for a company with Turbines backing, it's pathetic. If I worked for Turbine I'd actually be embarrassed to tell anyone.
