So what should be the incentive for paying cash only for a pre-order then?
- Cosmetics were ruled out with the debacle over ROI. Everyone was up in arms over that one.
- Discounts? The TP crowd blew a cork over that one.
- Useful in game items? Well, you see where that one is going in this thread.
- Fluff? Collectors sure don't want that. Everything should be in game.
- Potions and the lot? That's an unfair advantage to some here.
So I guess basically they could give us an in game title that says "I paid 1st!" and see how that flies! (Someone will cite that they are a lifer/founder though...here we go again!)

If you decide to get it, you pay. If you decide not to pay (you don't want, you think it costs too much, etc, etc.) you don't get it. There is no "force" involved any more than in any retail establishment. It's an exchange of "money" for "goods"...entirely voluntary.
Nope. Your grammar is fine. Now if you wanted to address the use of hyperbole...then you *might* have something. Is this some subtle flaming over improper use of grammar?

This is kind of a crazy idea but ...
How about just make the Expansion so good that people will want to buy it when they know exactly what is in it.
Or this ...
Make VIP worth while so you have some steady income from subs. Include things like extra bags. Make the game so good that people will want to come and sub - like they do in other MMOs.
Edit: Thought of one more crazy idea: tell your customers exactly what they will be buying, and have the product so good that they will be happy buying it (short version: no games, no tricks, no being vague for marketing reasons). Wouldn't that be funny?

I think "flaming" and "being negative" is slightly inaccurate in this usage - but engine kid is being given a hard time for the choice of one word - when his meaning was clear.
Do you really not understand what enginekid is saying? He was attacked on his language, not his meaning. His meaning was perfectly clear to me, and he used forced correctly. The problem with language is that one sentence can be correctly interpreted in different ways - meaning you can use words or a phrase to mean different things.
Kind of ridiculous for wh to talk about force as in physics: "there is no force". Further proof words can have multiple uses and meanings.
Engine correctly said you are forced to pay - meaning you have no other way to get the bag. It does not come as a VIP so you are forced to buy it - meaning there is no other option to obtain it. Engine kid never said "someone is forcing me to buy this - I have no choice". He said, there is only one way to get it. As in, to get to place A, you are forced to go through place B - there is no other way.
This was completely clear to me and I am sure others. Maybe you come from a region where this word is never used this way - but in the US east and west coast - the meaning is clear - unless you just want to nitpick and argue or pick at his words because you disagree with his meaning.
Inside every old person is a young person wondering what just happened
You´re not the only one. Free stuff rocks.
But you´re being a bit dramatic and contradictory about it.
We can, at the moment, state or assume 3 things:
- Preorder opens the bag. Nothing indicates for or against that it wont come with a post-release buy of RoR
- The bag will appear in the LotrO store in any case
- The LotroStore version of RoR likely will not contain the bag, based on that none of the webstore version "gifts" were included with that
You state in the very first post that you do usually buy things in the store when they are on-sale. So based on that and the informed guesswork above, you will not be eligible to get it for "free" (everyone will still be paying for it, one way or the other) in any case.
Lastly, someone else said that several steps taken by Turbine over the last year have reduced the inventory load in any case. Personally, I find that a sixth bag (without a non-complicated method to actually organize these bags) will merely serve as another piece that clutters my screen that is already taken up by the UI and plugins. I´d rather have them use the Westfold crafting system applied to the lower level crafting, for example.
I think it is safe to assume it will be made available later in one way or another. They will likely delay the announcement that it will be in the store as much as possible, in order to maximize pre-orders. Yet they would know that not everyone would preorder even if it was the only way to get the extra bag. Not to mention the people who will be joining the game after the chance to preorder is over. Why waste a perfect opportunity to increase store sales?
You have been here for 42 years (heh) and it still surprises you when some people deliberately miss your perfectly clear and valid point and attack you over nonsense?
I've said this many times before. This community is not mature. Brace yourself for the worst.

Want to see real flaming? Go read a couple weeks worth of a unsenet newsgroup like talk.origins...but be sure to order in a set of asbestos garments first.
Turbine maintains--on the whole--a very civil level of discourse in these Forums (which is--of course--a thankless task).

Not only did I understand what he said, I understood what he meant.
However, there is NO force involved with the premium wallet. If you want the wallet, you have to pay for it...just like any other commercial exchange. There is no requirement to get the wallet...hence, no force.
What was engaged in was hyperbole by using the term "forced".
In a year when Turbine comes up with some new, highly desirable, addition for characters, we may well see assertions that people were (this year) "forced" to buy the 6th pack. That won't be a legitimate claim any more that people were "forced" to buy the premium wallet. In neither case is anyone exercising coercion (that is, SOCIAL/ECONOMIC "force").

1. No one said this - that was not what E. meant. No one is saying *have* to buy the wallet or bag. You are arguing against what no one said.
2. We all agree that this did not happen: "that people were "forced" to buy the premium wallet." You are missing the meaning of what he said - put it in context of his last few posts. His meaning is that there are no other options to get the 6th bag other than buying it - and that there should be these options.

Continuing the never ending battle to keep Lobelia Sackville-Baggins in check
So far, all we know is bag 6 will be included in the RoR preorder package(s).
We cannot assume at this time that it will or will not:
1) be included in the RoR postrelease package(s)
2) be included in VIP
3) be available for purchase with TP
Personally, I am completely expecting that it will be available via #1 and #3, and not really expecting #2 (bags 4 and 5 are included with VIP but their wording on the RoR preorder seems to me like they're setting up a dichotomy).
A spaceship from another star / They ask me where all the people are
I tell them I'm the only one / There was a war, but I must have won
It's pretty obvious that this is an incentive to get people to spend money on the expansion, as opposed to simply using their accumulated turbine points on the content in it. Hopefully this means they won't be dividing it up and having it cost twice as much in TP as dollars. Carrots work much better than sticks, IMHO.

I don't think Turbine knows yet. They've just put in hooks for this ability so it's brand new. They're probably getting input from marketing departments, running calculations to see what a good price is, etc. It's probably not entirely guaranteed that it will be a pre-order enticement.
