Undying Title

How many of you have this? I was close on my last character, a 17 guardian. It seems I always get screwed by rubber banding though.

it's the most annoying title to get. I was leveling in the shire to be careful and got dropped near a low level npc that eventually killed me before I disconnected. In this case I was doing the mail quests and disconnected and was killed by a boar.

This is a rant thread. I am well aware of how to level safely, or how to be careful and and avoid death. This is just a server screw you death. I spent 13 hours on a character only to lose out to 40 seconds of connections issues..

I can't say I've lost it to lag issues before, but that has to be a real bummer.

One thing we did find today--it doesn't count as dying if you get a res, apparently...

And yeah, i know it's not that big of a deal. However, this was my fourth character, and I was leveling very slowly specifically to safely get the title. I was also twinking /gearing up at every opportunity. It's just greatly annoying to get screwed over by an issue totally beyond your control regardless how well planned you were. i will still play the game and all, it's just a massive disappointment to have an issue like this come out of nowhere.

Made it to level 58 before first death on my LM, wasn't being overly careful either, just most of the game is too easy these days.

I guess i'll try it on another character and just hope I have no connection issues until after level 20. Sorry for making a thread about it, was just a frustrating experience.

I have it on all my level 20+ characters except my first, the Loremaster, because I didn't know about it.

I've got it on 3 out of 8 toons above level 20.

The funny thing is, I got the title on my minstrel a few days ago, even though I died two times before reaching level 20 (and i didn't get rezzed).
Maybe it's bugged or something.

If a title like that and a stupid death out of your hands annoy you don't play Realm of the Mad God :P

I don't think I have the title on a single character. I'm used to taking shortcuts by cliff-jumping.

Indeed, after they nerfed it from being a level 50 title it became pretty 'meh' really, and there are so many reasons as the OP's discovered where you can die before 20 which are nothing to do with you or your [in]ability to play.

I have it on all 4 of my characters. I didn't really find it that hard to get.

Most of my chars started in Ered Luin and i find it difficult to die there from mobs (unless you want to) until level 20

However only few got the title since i have a bad habit of falling from ledges :P

The only value I see in this trait line lies in using the title The Wary when a character is really high level. Intentional or otherwise., I find that to be a minor hoot.

Undying is a pointless title really, I never care about getting it. And if I get it I'm never going to use it anyway.

It wasn't a L50 title (unless it was in closed beta), but it was a bit harder in the beginning of the game before they streamlined the lower levels, lowered mob morale and damage, and added quests. Of course, if you wanted to get it, it was fairly easy. Just had to play very conservatively and take it slow. Nowadays, you don't even need to do that if you're familiar with the territory and don't group. I haven't died on the landscape in I can't remember how long. I had to 6-man the Rift with a bunch of people who had never done it to get my first death at L52 on my last character.

It has never been a level 50 title, at least not in LOTRO retail.

I'm actually wondering if its bugged? My wife called me in a panic so I ran through the house leaving my level 14 RK to fend for herself, but not in combat. She just wanted a towel for the dog... GRRRRRRR (literally).

came back and witnessed the last and final deathblow right as I was reaching for the mouse. Aside from an AFK death, I'm now 21 and I don't think I've even been hit by more than a dozen mobs. Life has never been below 95% to the best of my knowledge. I'm spamming healing skills while running through town for the deed since I'm not using them in combat. All that said, I died at 14 and at 20 received my Undying title.

Once you learn a bit about the game... its a very easy title to get (from a combat perspective). Then you only have to worry about your ISP, PC, game lag, spouse, pets, or misc. to finish it off

Since we don't really track all known issues or changes in this game, I'm sure if WAI (now given to everyone) or bugged.

You also have yet to say where it was a level 50 title, despite a quasi-question about whether or not it was in closed beta.

I don't have it on any of mine. I don't like to tip-toe around Middle Earth. I like to run into a mess and figure out what I can handle, instead. I actually think I lost it on one due to disconnect issues, though. Hehe.

Maybe I'll try for it one day, who knows? I think it would bore me, though. I understand why you'd be upset though. If I wanted the title and that happened, I'd probably delete the character and start over. One day lost isn't too bad, I guess, if it's that important.
