6th Bag Question w/F2P characters.

I have some alts that I have not unlocked additional bags for as of yet. I am wondering how the 6th bag would work on them? Does it...

A. Open up the 6th bag slot and that's all, leaving 4 and 5 greyed out.
B. Open up the 4th bag slot.
C. Open up all the bag slots to get to the 6th. So 4, 5 and 6 would be opened.
D. Not open up anything till the 4th and 5th bag slots are opened.

Most likely, D. In fact, most tiered store items simply show the next tier available -- if you haven't bought one before, Bag #4 will be the only one shown. You probably won't even see Bag #6 until you've purchased Bags #4 & #5.

Shared Storage, Vault Storage, Wardrobe spaces, stat tomes, skirmish soldier max rank ... all operate in this manner. On the other hand, Milestone skills are all shown and don't seem to require Milestone II to be purchased before Milestone V. And skirmish soldier max rank only operates that way if purchasing them separately; if you get the Isengard bundle that includes the current max soldier rank, you also get the previous tiers automatically if you don't already have them. So Turbine could always handle the new bag in a different manner.

Of course, I'm assuming you're asking about F2P players who do not pre-order the Rohan expansion, and are buying the 6th bag from the Turbine store in September. If you're asking about F2P players who do buy the pre-order, well ... they're not F2P anymore.

No, but they would only be Premium and being Premium doesn't unlock the bags. If you preorder, which bag will you get then I wonder? The 4th? The 6th only? Or none, until you've unlocked the rest?

I've got a follow on to this question. I am premium, having been previously VIP so all my played characters have 5 bags, though I havn't purchased the unlock. If I were to wait till launch would I be able to buy the 6th Bag in the store or would I need to buy the 4th and 5th, despite all my characters already having these unlocked. This would make a huge difference, as it would double the effective cost from 995 TP to 1980TP. I'm surely not the only person in this position, and I hope that they have the option for bag 6 to be independent of purchasing bags 4 and 5.

I find C and D to be extremely unlikely. It would sorta be cheating the people who buy Legendary RoR if they don't get the 6th bag just cause they haven't gotten the 4th and 5th, and it would be like giving bags away for free if the 4th and 5th were added in. Since there are individual buttons for each bag, I think A or B are the most likely answers. I'm leaning towards A, personally, since having buttons 4 and 5 greyed out would in no way prevent you from using button 6 if you get RoR.

Also, unlocking the 4th and 5th bags by being VIP is essentially the equivalent to purchasing them with TP. They are yours permanently on those characters. So an ex-VIP getting the 6th bag won't have any problems. However, as I recall, unlocking the bags by getting VIP would work the same way unlocking the traits and swift travel works. On any character you played during VIP those things are permanently unlocked. Any subsequently made characters don't get those perks, so if you, Tysop, make new characters, I think those characters will be in the same position that Koomaster is in. Your existing characters that you played during VIP would be fine.

Its been a while since I unlocked bags 4 and 5 with TP, so I can't remember, but in the Store does it list ALL bags that are unpurchased? Or will it, for example, list only Bag 4? And then if Bag 4 is gotten, does Bag 5 show up?

Yes, sorry about that. I guess I am NOT F2P since I buy quest packs and expansions through the Turbine store. So I am premium, but as Candlelight said, being premium does not unlock those bags.

I am mostly asking about the 6th bag when it comes to pre-ordering ROR now. I assume once it gets added to the store in Sept. you would have to unlock bags 4 and 5 with TP before you could purchase the 6th from the store then. I am just wondering about f2p/premium players who pre-order the legendary edition now which includes the 6th bag.

If it just included the one bag no big deal. If it ended up unlocking all the bags, that's a big value for someone like me and very convenient. If it didn't unlock any new bag on those characters because I haven't unlocked 4&5 I would be very disappointed. That's why I asked.

Yes, sorry about that. I guess I am NOT F2P since I buy quest packs and expansions through the Turbine store. So I am premium, but as Candlelight said, being premium does not unlock those bags.

Actually, you become premium only when you pay real life money. This means you must either buy an expansion with real money, buy a point card, buy VIP (and let it expire), or buy TP in the store. Buying expansions with TP you've saved from grinding deeds, etc. doesn't count. I had purchased several things in the store with TP I'd earned from doing deeds well before I became premium. The first thing I bought with real $$$ was a TP card from GameStop, and once I entered in the code and got my points, only then did I become premium.

As for the ultimate question you raised, I seriously doubt C or D will be the answer, and I'm personally leaning towards A, as I mentioned. Naturally I guess none of us will really know until a dev answers or until someone (who has not unlocked the bags) buys Legendary Rohan and tells us. I must admit I'm curious too...

So, in this instance, you would be able to purchase the 6th bag as you have the 4th and 5th unlocked. If you did not have them open to you, then you would need to purchase them in order to access the 6th bag.

How will it operate when we create a new character?

Currently we the 3 free bags.

Obviously our VIP downgraded characters will see 6 bags.;
What will characters who aren't downgrade characters see?

Bag 1,2,3,(lock),(lock),6?
Bag 1,2,3,4,(lock),(lock)? (Bag 4 and 5 costing 495TP, but unlocking bag slots 5,6)?
Bag 1,2,3,(lock),(Lock),(lock).- No benefit until 4,5 are purchased?

I thought I had read somewhere that if you create a new char while premium, even if your current chars have the grandfathered 5 bags from previous VIP status, that the new chars would only get 3 bags, unless you went VIP again. It should be interesting to see how this works in practice.

If anyone is in this situation and would like to post their results I'd love to hear it. We have a Premium account in addition to our Lifetime, and when trying to decide whether / which pre-order package to get for that account, it matters how that 6th bag is handled.

In practice, if you've "enabled" bags 4 & 5 for a character due to being VIP, they stay enabled. If you create a new character after the VIP period expires, that character will not have access to bags 4 & 5. If you purchase bag 4 and/or 5 from the Store, they will be permanently enabled for all characters that you create, even those going forward. So yah, what happens with the 6th bag in different scenarios is important. Celestrata confirmed how it works from the Store (thanks C!) but not from the Legendary pack.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Its been nearly a year since I got my 4th and 5th bags from the store with TP, but I had a hunch that (as Celestrata said) that 5 (and soon to be 6) wouldn't appear in the store until you get bag 4. And now 6 won't show until you also get bag 5. But, like several of us have said, that doesn't explain what happens with the Legendary pack.

I don't know, because Celestrata uses the word "purchase" exclusively for the bags, rather than the entire expansion; it seems worded that (s)he means purchased with TP in the store, which is very different from buying Legendary Rohan.

Also, in addition to bags 4-5, all traits (not just virtues), and swift travel remaining permanently unlocked on any characters PLAYED during VIP, does the gold remain uncapped? That is something else I unlocked prior to ever getting VIP.

Yes, gold cap is removed for all characters logged in during a VIP period.

It is possible that purchasing the legendary package will automatically fill in the fourth and fifth bags on the account. There's some precedent: when I bought the RoI expansion preorder it raised my skirmish soldier level cap to 35, even though I'd never purchased the 25 cap item. I got it for free, so to speak.

The situation here isn't the same, but I could see the potential for it to work the same way. It would certainly be nice, and would raise the value of the legendary pack, for the sake of all the alts I've created since I dropped VIP. But maybe they've noticed the loophole since RoI and will handle this one differently. *shrug*

This would add significant value to the Rohan Legendary package for me.. Maybe not enough to purchase it, but it'd sure help it along..
