Thumbs down RoR pre-order FAQ ommision: Please explain

    Go to http://rohan.lotro.com/pre-order.html

Navigate your way to the little FAQ button way down the bottom and pop up the window.

    Now go here: http://support.turbine.com/link/port...-of-Rohan-FAQs

Notice something? I sure do, this bit is missing from the pre-order FAQ.

Will there be an instance cluster released with the expansion?

There are no plans to release an instance cluster simultaneously with the expansion. However, an instance cluster is planned for release in a following update and will be free to players who have purchased the Rohan expansion.
Thanks for the transperancy Turbine, you really have done a great job in improving communication based on feedback from RoI. There's no way that got left off by mistake.

I haven't noticed that version of the FAQ. So there are in reality 3 FAQ's, and not all of them contain the same stuff. Great transparancy Turbine.

Anyway, this one seems to be the most complete:
    http://www.lotro.com/news/latestnews...-pre-order-faq

    23. When are we going to see some new instances?

We will be introducing a new instance cluster by the end of the year. More information will be released later this summer.

As mentioned previously, Riders of Rohan will not include an instance cluster when it releases on September 5th. While we are not including a new instance cluster in RoR, the expansion will ship with an entirely new type of repeatable high-level content that we're very excited about. Once the expansion pack has launched we will introduce a new instance cluster based in the Rohan region as part of our regular update schedule. Expect to hear more about the new content and systems of Rohan as we move through the summer.

Not properly updated? So being fully factual (There is no instance cluster when it launches) is now not properly updated. This is the new WB/Turbine?

high level repeatable content, if it looks like a duck and it queacks its a duck. looks like an instance but different, then real instances in fall. im alright with that, depending on how the quack sounds

He was speaking of the "CS" (customer service) RoR FAQ that can be found here: http://support.turbine.com/link/port...-of-Rohan-FAQs

This FAQ included for a while the following sentence:
There are no plans to release an instance cluster simultaneously with the expansion. However, an instance cluster is planned for release in a following update and will be free to players who have purchased the Rohan expansion.

    This sentence has been redacted.

Indeed that was the section I was referring to. Since the part of the sentence that reads :

"There are no plans to release an instance cluster simultaneously with the expansion. However, an instance cluster is planned for release in a following update"

is, from all I can find posted, still accurate, and seems to be confirmed by the quoted post from Sapience above, that leaves me with:

"and will be free to players who have purchased the Rohan expansion"

being the part that was not accurate.

Sure glad I didn't go ahead and order based on what was stated by the no longer existing piece of publicly posted information, betting quite a few who have shelled out their $ in advance are not feeling the same way.

That line was a mistake on our part yesterday, and we wanted to remove it as fast as possible and let you know as such. That particular line was a leftover line from how we handled instances in Rise of Isengard.

Now, you're right, the Rohan pre-order site's FAQ does not have any of the new questions we've added. Unfortunately, it's a bit harder for us to update that site, so what we're going to do is link the myLOTRO FAQ from the Rohan site. Instead of getting that fancy lightbox on the Rohan Pre-order site, you'll instead be taken directly here, to the always up-to-date FAQ.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused, but we are getting this straightened out.

    That statement is true?

If I had forked $70 based on the FACT that the Instance Cluster would be included I'd be fumming right now.

From what I can work out the first statement is untrue - It will not be free for RoR purchasers, it is a seperate update. It may be free for VIP's / Lifetime subs as most updates are, but the way things are going I won't state that as a given fact

I guess it will be partially a part of the RoR update:

    - It's free if you are VIP and bought RoR in the cash store, otherwise you have to pay TP for it
    Server: Evernight

    Main: Thrabath - Champion - Lvl 120; Thramhir - Minstrel - Lvl 116

It is my understanding that prepurchasing RoR or buying RoR after release will have nothing to do it.

Whether it will be free to VIP/ cost tp for the others or cost tp for everyone including VIP is not clear.

Added: there seems to be a slow shift from 'VIP get everything that is newly released' to a possible 'VIP have to pay for everything that is newly released just like everybody else' through a phase where 'VIP still get some of what is newly released'.

I want to preface this with the simple fact that I appreciate what you're doing here and I'm not upset with the community team. HOWEVER --

Listen, that's fine -- but considering Turbine can't even commit to the information they're giving us on this, I don't know why any of us should be committed to paying for this stuff. I'm feeling like the entire burden of proof for ROR is on me, which is crazy.

Someone pointed out that the fine print says "no returns" for this expansion pack. Considering all of this contradictory information, if I find Turbine gets in the way of me getting my money back from Digital River then I am just done.

I love this game, I've appreciated the things you all do -- but somewhere someone blew all of this. It's hard to do given how much money I've invested in this title, but enough's enough.

I hope the lesson here is that Turbine needs to get all of its ducks in a row before it starts charging people immediately for anything. This should have never been put up for sale if even the customer service FAQ wasn't even properly vetted. I get taking advantage of people's enthusiasm over E3 -- but worrying about press, getting this site up, telling us about the expansion and then also charging people for it is clearly too much for the company as a whole to manage effectively.

They do it because they can, just as the price and content were determined 'just because that is what they wanted to do', and because the RoI sales showed them that that's the way to make money. That's the only explanation that makes sense to me: push the player base as far as possible (from the horse's mouth). Marketing is making you believe that you need what you didn't know you wanted in the first place.

Read up for full context but I'm a bit confused by this comment. The site, selling your product, wasnt live for more than a few days before you started deciding information wasnt accurate and instead of adjusting once with the correct info you just remove possibly one of the more vital selling points.

And in doing so risk stirring up another storm that you, turbine, claimed earlier in the year to have learned lessons from. No information is better than bad information, unless you're a defense lawyer, politician or work in real estate. Stuff like this distracts from the game and what you're trying to do with it.

I strongly suggest you cease all releases until you, as a team, sit down and talk over what is going to actually happen. Then when you do write a release you read through it before hitting send/print/whatever to weed out discrepancies and falsehoods. Doing this would put you in a very good light to the baying masses who may want more but at least would be happy that what they're being told was the truth.

I'm afraid I can't think about what passes for the Turbine Communications team without thinking of the Simpson's Sideshow Bob Stepping on all the Rakes scene.

Perhaps they compose these releases via a variant of the Chinese Whispers game?

We will be releasing an instance cluster after the update comes out. However, we have not discussed the pricing of the cluster at this time. The mention of the cluster being free to players who have purchased Rohan was incorrect, and that's what we have removed. There is no instance cluster coming out simultaneously with the expansion.

We will be discussing the pricing of the instance cluster at a later time.

See, was that so hard to spell out. Sapience could have avoided a lot of back and forth speculating by simply putting it this way. Thanks all the same Celestrata, we know that you´re just relaying the news and are not responsible for them.

Can you at least confirm that as a regular content update, it will be free to VIP members who purchase RoR? Or at least for VIP members who purchase RoR with cash?

How it will be presented to VIP players is one thing, but I think we can finally drop the possibility that it will have any ties to the purchase or pre-purchase of RoR with cash.

Yes - from Celestrata the message is quite clear that RoR will not have instance cluster. Only hope it will be free update for VIPs
