VIPs, beware - you may lose 20 wardrobe slots

I thought it would be a good idea to draw attention to the following, from the RoR Known issues thread:

"VIPs were incorrectly awarded an additional 20 shared wardrobe slots with Update 8. Due to this error several store offers for shared storage are not working correctly for VIPs and have been disabled. This issue will be resolved in Update 8.1. The additional slots will be removed from VIPs and the correct store offers returned to the LOTRO Store. We strongly encourage all VIPS to not use the additional slots as items stored in those slots may become unavailable when 8.1 goes live."

As a VIP whose chars aren't anywhere near Rohan yet, I haven't paid much attention to the threads concerning RoR and I wouldn't have known about the above issue had a kinmate not alerted me to it.

I am really very angry about this, for the following reasons:

    * I spent the past couple of days sorting out my wardrobe.

    * The store offers for extra shared wardrobe slots were NOT disabled for me; I bought extra wardrobe slots as recently as last night.

    * I never kept track of how many wardrobe slots I have, so I didn't notice that I had 20 more than I should have.

    * I spent last night buying dyes, both through the auction house and using TP, which I used to dye certain items multiple times (ie I have a plumed hat that is dyed several different colours).

    * I don't tend to keep the items that I put into my wardrobe, as I don't want taking up space in my bags.

    * I have purchased several clothing items from the store using TP, which are now in my wardrobe.

    * As I am currently using 106 out of 110 wardrobe slots, it now looks like I could lose 16 items - which could include those which I spent TP on, which I have dyed multiple times (using TP, resources and in-game coin), and which I no longer own as I haven't stored elsewhere.

Why on earth don't Turbine simply say "OK we've made a mistake, VIPs have an extra 20 wardrobe slots" and leave things as they are? Don't VIPs pay enough anyway, why don't they just let us have the extra slots instead of messing us around so badly? Surely it would be easier for them to do that, than spend time removing the extra slots and causing annoyance and upset?

You shouldn't loose those items. If it's like going from VIP to Premium all it means it that those items will still be in storage but they will count over your limit, therefore you won't be able to put anything else in those slots.

If you have 106 of 110 slots currently as a VIP. It will change to 106 of 90 when update 8.1 goes live. The only functional difference for you is that can not add anything to the wardrobe unless you buy 20 more slots. You can use the 106 items any way you like.

You remove an item. You will go to 105 of 90. You can't put a replacement item under to reach 89 of 90.

It is not as bad as you are making it out to be.

Except for the fact that items in the Wardrobe are NOT items. They are copies of items!

That means that if they take away wardrobe slots and something is in those slots they simply disappear.
There is nothing to put back into inventory.

    This stinks.

Has Turbine said what the official max slots are for the Wardrobe?
I ask because I am currently sitting at 120/140 slots.
Am I supposed to only have 120 slots?

    Very Confusing!

Also if I am remembering correctly weren't there an extra 20 Wardrobe slots given to those who pre-ordered when the Wardrobe was introduced?

No, they don't disappear, they're still there. Read Yula's post, he explained it more thoroughly than I did.

No. There was a 20 dollar item that you could buy called the "Adventurer's Pack" which was released at the same time as the Mirkwood expansion. The Adventurer's Pack contained two character slots and 20 Wardrobe spaces.

Some customers - lifers were allowed a special offer. Buy the Mirkwood expansion. Get the Adventurer's pack for free.

Thank you that is what I was trying to recall.

I am a Lifer and I did buy the Mirkwood expansion to take advantage of that offer.

That still leaves me confused as to how many Wardrobe slots I should have in total.
I have bought all available Wardrobe storage from LOTRO store with TP.

Will be very upset if I now lose the slots I purchased and am not reimbursed the TP I spent!

Thanks for your replies! I think that Turbine need to clarify things, because this is confusing.

Turbine said "We strongly encourage all VIPS to not use the additional slots as items stored in those slots may become unavailable when 8.1 goes live." - which seems to suggest that they will remove some of the 106 items I have in my wardrobe. This is what made me angry.

Yula says "You can use the 106 items any way you like." - which (if I understand this correctly) means that I can still use all the items I currently have and they won't be removed. Is that right, Yula? I'll be very relieved if this is the case. I'm in a permanent state of confusion these days though, so excuse me if I've got this wrong!

So, we can essentially get free wardrobe space anyway? But those slots just wouldn't be replaceable unless we paid up later? Is that what you're saying Yula? I ended up taking stuff out, going back down to my "normal" amount of slots as I didn't want something random to be deleted or made unavailable.

Like Turbine has stated, I would not recommend using these extra slots. Normally if you go VIP you get the 20 slots for free. If you drop VIP you lose those slots. However if you have those 20 slots filled with items, they stay in your wardrobe you just cannot add more items. No new items can be added until your total wardrobe items are less than your current wardrobe size. With this situation it seems to have been an error so if they decide to remove those slots, chances are you could lose items as well. For now I would just wait it out to see what they do.

Considering not everyone reads the forums / known issues / et cetera, that's going to come as a rude surprise to probably quite a few people - especially because you could easily be accidentally granted more spaces than are possible to buy - meaning you could fill those spaces unaware of the fact you are going to lose them, and not be able to buy them back (and why should you be bullied into buying what you were tricked into having in the first place?).

Really, I think the best way to salvage the situation for Turbine would be to say 'yes VIPs, you get to keep those'. They could even advertise it as a limited time offer whereupon anyone who has an active VIP subscription when 8.1 goes live will get these 20 free spaces.

/whispers in Yula's ear "it was shared storage that came with the Adventurer's Pack".

Has this been addressed yet? Im still sitting at 40 of 20 slots and I know for certain I had purchased 10 extra slots on 2 seperate occassions. If I was to take out 20 items would this bug reset my wardrobe to the correct 40 spots?
