    Golden Token of Riddermark

I pulled out 5 of these from a Riddermark lootbox a few weeks ago. I've talked to others who have some as well.

After checking every barter NPC in Rohan to make sure I wasn't missing anything, I decided this was either a scrapped idea or something that didn't make it in time and was going to get added later. Seeing as 8.1 hasn't done anything regarding this, I'd like to bring it up again. Hopefully for a blue name response.

What are these supposed to be? Am I lucky or did I literally find trash in my lootbox?

They are used to rebuild Hybolt and to barter for the lvl85 class armour also in Hybolt.

This thread details the use of the tokens and how to rebuild Hybolt. Click Here

You rebuild Hytbold with Tokens of Hytbold, exchange them for armour or barter for Silver Tokens of the Riddermark. No mention of Golden =)

edit: Golden tokens hasn't got any function atm, but who knows, maybe they'll be usefull in the next expansion.

Maybe it will be a barter item for use with the upcoming Instance Cluster.

These used to be awarded at some point in Beta, maybe it is indeed just obsolete left-overs...

It can't be. Such a thing would never happen...

Aquamarine Shards used to drop from L51-60 Lootboxes, despite the fact that mo recipe required them and Mithril flake was used instead. This looks like the same thing to me.

There were a couple of quests in early beta rounds that rewarded these golden tokens, but even then I don't recall finding any npc or barter that you could actually trade them for. Given that these rewards were later changed back to normal silver tokens I'm inclined to think they're obscure leftovers without a current purpose. However, I could be wrong and there may be some future use; but they serve no current function.

You didn't hear it from me, but in the next update there will be a way to exchange these for the horseshoe. That should completely clear up what they do.
So long, and thanks for all the boars.

Horseshoe will be 2nd type of mount's LI. There are will be 4 slots for legendary horseshoes. Those lucky guys who keep Erebrandir's horseshoe will be auto-granted First Age.

Lol now I do remember those from Beta (you could not barter them). There were a number of placeholders in Beta, so it would not surprise me if a few got missed or will be used later. Now about that horseshoe. When my main finished the quests that granted it, I think I either vendored it or destroyed it to make room in my inventory (if it was useless, then why keep it, one asks). Given the stuff that I've heard later, my second alt kept his. I wonder if you can go back through either the Chronicle of Events or the Reflecting Pools to try to get it again if you ditched it the first time.

My guess (an this is purely conjecture) is that they will be involved in the upcoming instance cluster. I do not think that they would be a left-over from beta (though the occurance of these appearing now obviously is) because in the past, we have had: bronze/silver Arnorian coins (Evendim), vile bronze/silver coins (Angmar), silver/gold tokens of the wild (Enedwaith), silver branches/gold leafs (Lothlorien), bronze feathers/gold stars (Mirkwood), and most recently silver/gold tokens of the Anduin. In each case, the lower tier ones dropped like crazy and the higher tier ones were much rarer.

I especially suspect this because with RoI, our old skirmish currency was consolidated and made into what is now the standard currency, but because some people have stocked up on huge numbers of medallions/seals, they could in theory just buy the new armour sets right off the bat with very little if any grind. This would certainly be unfair because at no point in the past has playtime from one expansion allowed one to acquire the best gear in the next at a higher level cap. Thus, it seems only natural that they would introduce a new currency, or at least one that is needed in addition to M/M/S.

Alternatively, these could be the new sigils of Orthanc/unhatched spider eggs, i.e. currencies only obtainable from chests that are used to upgrade items we can get by easier means. In RoR's case, this is obviously the ring of Rohan (even on the best current version, the text reads "While restored to most of its former glory, the ring feels like it is still missing something...").

Currently, they still have no use on Bullroarer. It'd be nice if someone copied a character who has some so we can see if they get versioned into any number of ...other potential currencies.

There are some as a reward for the level 85 lottery today. So I assume they will have a purpose at some point.

Seems like the standard barter currency used for the rep reward vendors in areas. Just like the Golden Tokens of the Wilds (Enedwaith) and the Golden Tokens of the Anduin (Parth Celebrant). The ones which give the kindred prized steeds and whatnot. They don't seem to be in the game yet.

We love to confuse tickets with tokens! (see Yule fest!)...

Any hints as to what these WILL be for?

They've been removed and replaced with Silver tokens that do have a use. The gold tokens are just a left over Database item that's floating around from Beta. They have no use in game.

But hey.. You've got a Golden Token!

Could you also prod the Riddermark Lootbox tables? As recently as this past week they were still dropping Golden Tokens of the Riddermark periodically. With the Premium barter wallet these things now stick around FOREVER....
