Actually sorry to hear that.
I know this thread is proof positive that you can't please everyone, but as a frequent music player, me and my band mates love using the forced emotes on each other. We don't see them any differently than any other emotes, in that they're just a fun way to play around between songs while having a performance.
Also, for the 1000th time everyone, and I know this for sure, there is NO FORCED EMOTE that interrupts a player in music mode.
Doesn't happen.
There was a brief period between the release of Rohan and a patch fixed that allowed the animation to occur on someone in music mode, but even then it NEVER interrupted a song. In fact it lead to the amusing sight of seeing someone laying on the ground while still playing.
And here comes the negative rep for my tolerance of the current game design, of that I have no doubt. The enraged forum minority who loves to cry that they are victims are the very first in line to ignore others and hand out negative rep.

lol @ this thread.
Seeing people raging, over losing 3seconds of their life over an incident that happens in-game is hilarious.
Just hilarious. Maybe you should try to enjoy the game more and not get infuriated?
Whenever people are doing that stuff to me (especially outside the Fall Festival, it happened A LOT!) i'm just laughing or i'm planning to prank them with something.
C'mon guys why are you always so pissed off?![]()
So? I'm not in a popularity contest here. It's just one more action/counter-action choice to be aware of. It's a moot point, though. They'll never do something like that, since the use of the forced emotes would be seriously reduced if they did. More so than if an opt-out is implemented.
There is one other option. Make the forced emote effects client-only. The person doing them will see the effects on the characters around them, but the other players won't see them at all. That's a gaming-the-game type of idea, though. Even so, they get the chance to see the effects.
While you're at it...how about looking for a way to protect the *audience* who don't have /music running?
(That is to say...I think you've gotten your solution backwards by adding protection to the very people that can't be affected at present and ignoring the people who want protection from forced emotes.)

Three seconds one time...I agree. No big deal. Three seconds over, and over, and over again... Pretty soon you talking some serious annoyance.
Perhaps you don't care. Perhaps you should park your character somewhere for a couple of hours and advertise yourself as a forced emote target. That way, perhaps some of the less polite forced emoters can go after you instead of random people who don't care to be someones play toy.

Haha, i might in fact do that! Charge 10c for every time i get emoted. Wish you could add a title like that in-game LOL
Thanks for adding this, Scarycrow. I'd still like to see an opt-out, but this will at least mitigate some of the griefing being done to concert-goers in Bree.

Would be nice to have a dedicated area where people could work on the deeds with reduced cooldowns, say the party tree in hobbiton or the festival area near bree for instance. I think many people would just like to earn the emote and not want to bother anyone upset by them.
Hmmm... finally a blue response to the issue and it's just short of a slap in the face to those bothered by the emotes. Well, I guess those who still wanted clarification on Turbine's opinion on the problem have received their clarification.

Thanks, that will be a great help when I'm out questing or checking my vault or reading mail or chatting with people or crafting, which are the usual acticities that I'm engaged in when I get forced-emoted. And with this grand new addition of one serious-business area in all of Middle-Earth I can finally stop going everywhere on my mount and return to running for not-too long distances.
(As an aside, since I returned to the game, I was hit much less frequently with FEs than before I left, but I still find myself on my horse all the time when I'm not inside a building or performing an activity that doesn't allow mounts. I dislike it myself because it is unrealistic and bulky, but whenever I'm on my own feet in town, I get paranoid and suspect every person in my general vicinity of being about to force-emote me. It's not a change of habit I enjoy.)
And for the 1000th time, forced emotes DO interrupt people who are dancing to your music. You prefer a system where you can play your songs, but the dancers who are trying to enjoy your music are disrupted and not enjoying your music? People have to stop enjoying your songs and deal with being disrupted, restarting the dances and trying to get back in sync, etc, and you think that's funny?
Again, to everyone reading, to be clear: If you are in /music, forced emotes do not disrupt the song you are playing.
If you are in /dance, forced emotes DO disrupt whatever dance you happen to be doing.

So you're walking down the street there in Prague and out of nowhere some little clown comes up and knocks you to the ground. You don't get hurt, but you spend the better part of 3-5 seconds gathering you and your stuff back up before you move on. As soon as you get up, another little prankster trips you to the ground, again no actual scrapes or bruises, just to your pride if anything. You get up and it happens again, and again.
What's your response then?
Griefing is griefing, regardless of the "cost" to the person being griefed. Any intentional disruption of a player by another player is griefing anf should be dealt with accordingly. In this, there's a simple fix. You can opt out of trades, fellowship invites, kinship invites, duels etc ... add a toggle for forced emotes and let those that want to play "slapstick lotro" play to thier heart's content and leave those that prefer not to, alone.

The overall message from Turbine is the same:
Don't like it? Don't play the game.
WB/T are deaf to any suggestions from the community; a trend that has been increasing since the take over.
In the majority of cases it seems that posts are now (a) completely ignored, (b) answered by boilerplate text, (c) "answered" by bots, not people.
This is very sad considering the large number of well contstucted and intelligent posts put up by long-standing members of the community.
WB/T has learned that they can get by with doing little more than locking the odd thread here and there and in the process they waste a huge amount of positive potential for improvement.
The underlying question always remains: Will acting on the suggestion, complaint or whatever increase revenues noticeably?
...and the answer is always NO...

I want to know what servers have the evil griefers waiting around every corner to slap you with a festival emote multiple times an hour. I'm on Brandywine several hours a day and don't remember the last time I was affected by someone's emote.
If they ever come up with the toggle, you can be sure you will need to pay TP for it, just like the XP disabler.
This is a game. This is not real life. Someone making your chracter fall down, or cower from ghosts or appear to burn is not comparable to being assaulted in real life.
for all those saying they would pay for an opt out are you bloody crazy? give them more ideas to wring the life out of the game. They implement a system open for abuse and then charge the individual players to not have their game affected by that system. Idiotic.
My way of dealing with emotes is if I get spammed then I have my bags full of items to spam them back immediately. Funny how many of the idiots drop their emotes on you and then run for it, obviously they dont want the same annoyance else why do they run? I just hunt them down and wait till they are at the AH, mailbox or trying to kill something then hit them. Its pure delight to hear them yell at you for interrupting them.
