Use that ignore button liberally - glff can introduce you to some new players you haven't met/grouped with and it can also clue you into the ones you wouldn't care to just as well. If you're looking for a mature player base or glff chat, Landroval is a good place to start. After returning here, it took serious adjusting and liberal ./ignore to get to where I could tolerate it again.
That said, there are some great people on Meneldor and many who don't use it to flirt, epeen and troll. Hurth is right about the linking, especially after instances are released. My personal pet peeve is the annoying and constant chatter from the same people and their 20 alts who really should just create their own friends chat. We created a private user channel for friends who are spread across different kins on Landroval - its easy to create and maintain and add new people you meet. Why more people don't do this is beyond me - they would probably make more friends by not being in everyone's faces 24/7.
But yeah, unfortunately you aren't going to get much resolved by your post here. The people attracted to post in glff like the exposure and based on the amount of trolling behavior, will do anything to get attention.
PS: Welcome to Meneldor! Hopefully you will find the rest of the server to your liking - there are some really fun people here.
(sits back and waits for the troll comments from people already on ignore :-P)
