for giggles I always wear mine while deconstructing legendaries or while opening warband loot boxes or other rewards. what the hey, may as well.
I was just thinking about this and so far, I have only found one new quest for the Yuletide quests at Frostbluff and that is the daily quest. I saw other forum posts about a Tarnished Symbol dropping from the Bag of Presents, but it's Bound to Account. So I suggest that those who have it should equip the Horseshoe before turning in the quest and see what loot they acquire.
For what its worth, while wearing horseshoe and obtaining bag of presents, I got one

Better than tokens I suppose lol.
I've worn the horseshoe on one character that owns it (out of eight toons) throughout the yule festival and it does not appear to make any difference at all. Whatever benefit it supposedly gives appears to be useless, otherwise it would at least be noticeable over a three week period.. right? In fact, the winter festival would be a good time to dust it off!
Agreed. I wore the horseshoe too for the duration of the entire festival and did the events every day. There didnt seem to be any significant increase in any amount of luck or other festival related activity. Also never received the long-horned snowbeast cloak or a tarnished symbol from the daily present, I got marks 95% of the time. Also opening a lvl 70 lootbox I found I received even more marks and 5 tomes of enhanced xp x.x
I guess they forgot to turn the horseshoe on lol. But really, what does it dooooo?? Tell us already![]()

I also wore the horseshoe while opening the sack from the daily. Every day and besides marks and extra tokens, I only ever won the hat that you can just as easily get from the barterers. Now, it's no big deal, since I've all but given up hope on the horseshoe, but given the recent statements by devs, it /does/ make me wonder if it really does much at all.
A while back I almost swear that Sapience suggested we where it while questing and running through the epic in Rohan. Well did, for almost every quest and epic chapter, and I never noticed anything different in the quest dialogue or action that seemed to suggest the horseshoe was having an effect.
That said, might it be time for another hint at just what the horseshoe is intended to do?

I suppose it would not hurt to give it a try![]()
As already mentioned a while back, it has an effect during the snowball fight: You have a chance of getting a buff if hit by a snowball which gives immunity to more slows for 10 seconds.![]()

I really hope it does nothing. I lost my horseshoe on my main to a hack attack about 2 years back. I put in a trouble ticket and they were only able to compensate me with coin, nothing of my inventory, which at the time represented hundreds of hours of game play. Far harder to replace lost inventory than coin. Coin, even back then, was easy to come by.
So when I asked about the Horseshoe, they couldn't (wouldn't ???) replace it or even allow me to re-run the particular quest to earn it again. And the reply I got from the ticketmeister made me believe that the silly thing was just a Dev joke, so after getting over the hacking, I didn't really care too much about the horseshoe.
But now the bile is rising in my gut again...
At this point there is so much hype about this thing that if it really is/was just a dev joke they can hardly admit it and if it truly does help in festivals and such, then I REALLY want a way to reclaim it on my main, *with* all the accumulated time benefits.

For anyone interested, I posted a screenshot of that buff a few weeks ago:

Third post down. It's not some game-breaking effect, so if you didn't take the horseshoe I wouldn't worry too much about it

I had a brief exchange with Sapience on Twitter today, where he said the following:
I think "given up date" is just a typo for "given date". Anyway, there it is.@tobascodagama You were told, for real, what it does. And you were told it changes.
@tobascodagama The thing with it is, as we said, that devs can add and change it. So it's possible in a given up date that it does more.
My interpretation of this is that the effect depends entirely on whether the dev for any given content has written something that interacts with the horseshoe. The "You Know Snow Fu" thing is one interaction that we've uncovered.
Now that we know (sort of) what to look for a little better, we can try to find other stuff. If anyone's running through the Rohan (maybe even Isengard?) Epic right now, I encourage them to equip the Horseshoe and pay very close attention to their buffs! When the next part of Volume III is out, those of us at level 85 with no alts will have another chance to look for horseshoe effects.

I can really sympathize with the lack of help you got in recovery of inventory. The same thing happened to me (not hacking) with my entire shared storage on my first server. But, having said that, I think the horseshoe effect, if any, is so neglible that it really doesn't matter. During the festival, for instance, I had two 85s get the yule present bag every day, one with the horseshoe equipped and one without. The one without got better gifts over the entire festival. A lower level without the horseshoe got the best drops. Yes, this is just anecdotal...
Actually, I read it as saying that a given GAME update may change (presumably, add something new to) the function/effect of the horseshoe.
I trashed the shoe on my first two of the 3 toons that have progressed far enough to get it. I kept it on my 85 Guardian but I have rarely equipped it save when crafting. Guess I'll hang onto it and try to equip it more often, though "Festival" (now over) and "Epic quest chain" (already completed) are the only definitive times we know of that the 'shoe currently will have an effect. It may have no effect whatsoever on loot chests and ./rolls, crafting, and warband spoil boxes. I actually suspect it doesn't.
*shrug* kinda' fun, not a big deal. The angst of some regarding this "dark secret" is amusing. Roll with it people. Have fun.![]()
Cool, so what do I get for posting the correct answer? I'll settle for a Tarnished Symbol of Celebrimbor. Shoot, I'll even equip my horseshoe when I open the game mail, and maybe it will transmute into a Tarnished Symbol of the Elder King!
Just offering helpful suggestions![]()
