Central Florida PLAYER MEET UP APRIL 5 2013

OK folks, I'm heading to Florida for a couple of weeks in April and I'm willing to swap out a vacation day for a day of hanging with LOTRO players.

What I need is someone to tell me a good location for a meet up in the central FL area. I'll bring some swag (and yes I'll bring some "The well met" title codes), food and drink are on you. So let's hear some suggestions!

    Update: 3/21/2013

Friday April 5, 2013. 8:00PM At Kerr's Wing House in Orlando.

    http://www.winghouse.com/winghouse-l...lando-florida/

    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...9&z=16&iwloc=A

I'm going to put Kickman in charge of making sure Kerr's is ready for us and if they can square off some space for us or whatever, great. If not, we'll just descend on them.

    I will bring...

    • Codes for the in game title "The Well Met"
    • Hoodies from PAX
    • LOTRO Banners from PAX
    • Riders of Rohan Soundtrack CDs

    CONFIRMED AS OF 10:00AM 3/28/13

    • Elflord410 2XL + XL (2)
    • Elfmusic - 2XL (1)
    • Ernuvorn - XL (2) (2)
    • Grimsin'sRiders 1M +1XL (2)
    • Hobbit1968 - M (1)
    • Illepokok 2XL (2) (2)
    • JakeDrake - XL (1)
    • Kickman77 - 2XL + XL (2)
    • LittleCub 1M 1L (2)
    • Marleecee - 2XL (1)
    • rabidjawa - M (1)
    • radioweb - 2XL (1)
    • Sezneg - XL (1)
    • Sapience (1)
    • Tazzmission - 2XL (1)
    • Tyene - L (1)
    • Vamiaka - ?? (1)
    • XanthorSR 1 Xl + 1 2XL (2)

TOTAL: 25. HOODIES AND BANNERS HAVE SHIPPED. ANYONE ELSE FROM THIS POINT I WILL STILL HAVE IN GAME TITLES FOR YOU. (Maybe I'll have space for some other swag in my luggage).

    My Challenge to you ALL:
At PAX East we raised $232 for Extra-life. Cash money players droped in a donation box. I'm bringing it with me so bring a few bucks! if everyone kicks in $5 we'll raise an additional $125 to help heal sick kids. If we raise more than $250 at this event, I'll spring for a couple pitchers at the Winghouse.

Central Florida is pretty big, I grew up here so I know It would be a lot more helpful if you could give more specifics on where in Central Florida you will be and then I can get you some good ideas. Most people think of Central Florida as Orlando, but in reality Central Florida expands from the Pinellas Beaches all the way over to the space coast.
Eldest, that's what I am. Tom remembers the first raindrop and the first acorn he knew the dark under the stars when it was fearless, before the Dark Lord came from Outside.

I know. I'm originally from Miami and I have family scattered all around the state from Tallahassee to Clewiston to Homestead.

Let's call it anywhere along the I-4 corridor between Lakeland and Daytona. I'll be staying a bit south of Lake Wales, so I figure that triangle is a reasonable day trip. It also puts Orlando sort of in the middle.

To keep things in perspective, I've only got one weekend and that's reserved for Family, so think Tuesday- Friday.

How about Sarasota, Fl? West coast, 45 min south of Tampa. We could meet at the #1 voted beast beach in the country, Siesta Key Beach. We can hang at the Daquari Deck. Lots of different awsome daqs!

I'm in! The community (right off I-4 just east of Orlando) I live in has a beach on a natural spring, picnic tables/barbecues and a club house if that's of any interest.

I'd travel anywhere in Central FL that you guys pick.

I'd recommend anywhere around Lakeland. Plenty of good resteraunts. And it's right in between Tampa and Orlando. I live about nine miles east of Lakeland. But any where would be fine with me.

How about Sci-Fi City? That's the best gaming spot in all of Orlando and one can order food to be delivered there.

If you're going to hang out with gamers, go to where the gamers play, right?

I see a lot of words, but for some reason only "Daquari Deck" seems to be making sense to me.

I don't see a problem with any of these places as I'm assuming we're probably talking less than 25 people total and there aren't many places in central florida that can't handle that.

OMG - I wish I still lived down there! I lived in Anna Maria back awhile ago and used to LOVE going to Siesta Key to get away from the crowds! Back in the 70s when I was there a LOT younger we even had fires on the beach at night and a LOT of partying! +Rep for the mention of Siesta Key and the memories!

I grew up just north of Homestead, on the western boundary of Goulds officially but typically those in the neighbourhood said we lived in the Redlands. Hurricane Andrew blew us out of town in August '92 and we settled on the other coast, in Sarasota.

Edit: Well lookie there, Sarasota came up. I live about 5 minutes from St. Armands/Lido Beach and about 15 minutes from Siesta Key.

    I know where Goulds is/was.

I actually left Homestead in January of 92. Just 8 months ahead of Andrew. My parents and family were still there when it hit. All but my sister and brother-in-law have moved north and mostly in land. Still have a lot of friends down that way.

I live in North Orlando. Can't wait for this. I do agree that Ker's Winghouse is a great place to go. There is also a Miller's Ale House in Winter Park. I know I will be there where ever you decide.

I hope everybody made it through the storm OK. What an experience. We stayed in our house and watched it crumble around us. There was so much water pouring in that we had to chop holes in the wood floors to let it out. The ceiling fan from my room went sailing off when the roof pulled away and we found it two blocks away a week later. We lost a couple birds but all of the rest of the critters made it out OK. I lived on SW 232nd St, AKA Silver Palm Drive. I was a block away from Anderson's Corner.

In the end I wish we lived on the west coast right from the start. Much nicer over here.

The 5th or even the 6th would be better for us personally, since we have to drive up from Fort Lauderdale.

I know the 6th would be better for most, but please keep in mind this is my vacation time and I'm visiting family. So weekend days/nights are reserved for them.

I'm entirely willing to hang on a Friday though!

OK so to help this along a little bit (and so I know how much swag to grab and pack).

    Friday April 5, 2013.

We need a time and a place.

Currently leaning towards lakeland and Orlando. (Kerr's winghouse seems to have the most support at the moment).

Someone offered their community's park? Is that something that's work able? I need details.

Im thinkin since it is a Friday Night, maybe do it around 7-8 ish at night so people can get hom from work and drive over.

I think 8 would be best, not to late for a meal, or to early for a drink or two.

Friday night at 8 sounds great to me. I vote for Kerr's Wing House. It is right up the street from me
