Question If you skip logging in for one, your free Hobbit Presents do not carry over.

"How often do I receive free Hobbit Presents?
Every account receives one free silver present every 24 hours. If you skip logging in for one or more days, your free Hobbit Presents do not carry over." http://www.lotro.com/en/game/article...bit-presents-2

Well what does this mean precisely? If you don't log in for one or two days you don't get the presents for said one or two days or that you don't get them anymore? Ever?
Being a UK student in Geology I have lots of field work to do that lasts a week or so... heck I have to go away for 5 weeks to a remote Scottish Island in the summer to map it, what then?

The wording suggests that once you miss out, that's it, no more, tough luck.

Is it possible to have some clearing up on this matter please? that would be awesome

If you skip two days of playing, you will not receive those two days worth of presents. You will only receive the present for that given day.

My understanding of it is that if you log in on Monday, you'll get a gift. If you don't log in on Tuesday, you'll miss that gift, but if you log in again on Wednesday, you'll get the gift for that day. However, I'm not sure of the exact server times for the reset. Hope this helps

It's a daily bonus for logging in. If you don't log in that day, you don't get the present for that day. All they're saying is that you don't accrue presents on days you don't log in. So, if you miss a week you won't have a week's worth of presents available when you log in, you'll have one for that day. Pretty simple actually.

The only problem I see with this, is perhaps people who live in different time zones as the US...who can't log on when the "day" changes US time?

they want you to log in every day, hence you don't get reward for the day you didn't play. i think it's pretty understandable...those little cheaters!

    Hobbit Presents

I just hope they think to put air holes in the gift boxes so the Hobbits can breath.

IT seems straightforward to me. I basically read it as "no queuing". I.e. if you skip for three days, when you next login in you see ONE present, total, not one present for each day you missed. I also assume that they are going to use the "arbitrary point in time" method (8AM?) to space days out, rather than the "every 16 hours" approach.

You have 24 hours to open the free hobbit present, regardless of which time zone you live in.

I have nothing to contribute on the topic of hobbit presents.

    Thumbs up

For those who are curious, I am heading off to the Isle or Rum!

I was just curious, as to me the way they worded it, that they "Did not carry over" to me sounds like they meant once its gone it gone, but I guess we all interpret things differently!

Thanks for all the replies, I understand now ^^

P.S. That's not a bad price for an island...

I just glanced quickly at the Wikipedia and man, that sounds fantastic. You're going to have a lot of fun.

What's gonna happen when you're done mapping? Will a map or at least an article be published? Or is it just an exercise for fun? Will you take pictures? Are you by any chance specializing into vulcanology (BASALT EVERYWHERE)?

Not sure if this is what you meant, but I'm in a mood, and you just tripped a pet peeve.

There's no such thing as "US time"; the continental U.S. (not counting Alaska, Hawaii, or territories and commonwealths) comprises 4 time zones (5, if you consider the fact that the state of Arizona chooses not to participate in Daylight Savings Time).
The forums are not an accurate representation of the thoughts and feelings of the whole player base. Those who like a particular feature are in the game enjoying that feature. Those who don't like it log out to mention it on the forums. It is a relevant but biased source of feedback, and any claims of community desire should take this fact into account.

It's for my dissertation project as I am going into my final year in September, once I'm done I will come back to the university, digitalize my hand drawn map on drawing software and hand it in for marking once I have written a 10,000 word dissertation on the work I did there, my map and what I have found out about the area ^^ I will have to take photographs for evidence of what I found and also it's just nice to record what you see in the field!

I am getting really excited about it, it really really sounds like an awesome place up there!

I am definnetly considering Volcanology, seeing as that subject is my best one so far this year, and, volcano's are awesome

Oh man you have so many exciting things ahead of you. I find it particularly awesome that you will be making the map yourself. I didn't know it was something that was expected of geologists nowadays.
I've only known one geologist that was really into digital graphics (designing whole region maps by himself, digitalizing old documents, etc.) and let me just say that when he retired, the whole university he worked at wanted to erect a statue in his honor because of how useful and diverse his skills were.

What i wonder, is - the Gold present for VIPS means, one needs log in 7 days consecutive, to get it (a la facebook); or one can log in once a week on, say, every monday, to get it?

Unfortunatelly the most up to date maps these days are those of the most Economically important areas, such as Oil fields, areas rich in ores etc etc, as the big resource companies tend to pay for those, most other areas have maps that are out of date, especially in the UK. But if working for an oil or mining company they usually send out a team to map the area first unless there is a fully up to date map already

I guess it means 7 days consecutive, unless all the gold boxes get sent out on Sunday/Monday, whenever they consider a week to end, in that case I think you have to log in every day.
I hope them Rohan banners aren't included in these boxes as they are with the Bugud boxes O_O

I hope the presents reset at a set time. I don't like it when it's on a 24 hour timer from when you log on. When it's on a 24 hour timer, you end up having to log on later and later each consecutive day if you want to get a present.

Once a week. First day you login you will get 1 each silver and gold. Days 2-7 you get 1 silver if you login. Day 8 silver and gold.

It boils down to logging in once per day with your highest level character and picking up the silver present. Every 7 days you'll also be able to get a gold one. Skip a day and you miss out on a silver. Skip a week and you miss 7 silver and 1 gold.

Just how good ARE the gold boxes?

So I had time at lunch to grind through 210 Gold Hobbit Boxes on the test server.
All rewards, even ''vendor trash'' were Bound to Account.

My impression was that MCs are expensive enough that no one's going to "buy their way to uber".
