Yeah...well,..it's kinda underground,...you probably never heard of it,..
anyways,..I'm so over it now,..meh,.
Impact? it's gonna suck. But did they say they will Never ever invest in those things ever again?? or just for 2014?
Lemme refresh the homepage,..did they toss a banner up declaring Lotro to be the number 1 Solo Centric MMO out there?
Is this something they are just doing because their numbers say to do it? They have no new model for the new generation of MMO'ers other than the current direction?
Is it our fault? We say we want this or that,..but if our numbers say less than whatever percent actually do any of that group/raid/kin stuff,..then I don't blame them.
Is it like telling your friend,.."Oh yeah,..those sock puppets are awesome,..believe me,..we love that,..that's what we want right there,..sockpuppets" Then your friend ends up selling only two socklpuppets and ends up having to wear flip flops because its the only thing that will fit over them. Your friend would be like,..screw u,..I make more money scalping Bruins tickets to skip the line.
What other MMO is not going down this route? Are we still chasing WoW mechanics!?!
And don't you dare bring up ESO or you get a sockpuppet in the mouth.
I mean,..what MMO's are out there that ARE doing it right that Devs can take to the moneypeeps and say,..hey look,...this is doing awesome,..and it's got Kinships,.raids..and grouping!
Are we asking turbine to buck the system,..take a dare...pioneer! They ain't no start up anymore to be doing that young stuff.

I seriously love a guy who can threaten to put a sockpuppet in your mouth. And has sockpuppets in a gif in his post. Sir or Ma'am, I love you.
Lets look at motivations here...
Just as Ruppert Murdoch's Page 3, Massively is rumor-mongering for one reason only -- LOTS Of money!! -- it gets "clicks" on their website and generates money for them.
Massively is not a "public service." Every page-view adds another penny or two to their bottom line.
Why lots of money? Because a huge number of people care about and are interested in LOTRO.
Do you think Massively would be writing about LOTRO if there was no interest? After all, LOTRO is "an old game" whose time is past, and "nobody cares anymore."
Could it possibly be that there are many more people playing LOTRO than those posting all these negatives comments want to believe?
Enough more that Massively makes oodles of money from them?

At the risk of being terrorized by sock puppets,, the only model that Turbine is emulating is that of f2p and micro transactions. Which is not working for me, how 'bout you? Give me raids, group content and reasons to keep our kin going! Other than that I applaud your narrative!

Hmmm, how is quoting the CM's responses to questions rumor mongering? There's rarely any interesting news about LOTRO. Turbine keeps things close to the vest. Nothing Sapience said in the chat was new to those of us who read the forums. As a PCM I think you'd know that, right?
So what exactly are you trying to defend, mr. defender guy?
Motivations. Funny things, them.
Phrasing! Doesn't anybody do phrasing anymore?
well,...I don't have enough TP to reset my sockpuppet limit yet.
But
I don't see the two to be either Or. We can( though I have always despised) have f2p/micro-cash shops) AND have Raids and Group content and Kin/housing stuff. I don't see what would prevent the two from being in the same game. That's on them.
'How about me?"
I like Lotro,..but they've changed the game obviously,...I play what I can but yes,..I sigh when I realize how much it has changed,..like sucking water from a stone.
But then I move on to play other MMO's ,..then I come back,...and so on. It's like some sick pre-determinism,... the players of Facebook games and Eastern grindfests want quick fixes and move on,..so let's design that way,....then the players get frustrated but like the game still and end up playing for bursts then move on,....and so on...
What else do I have? TSW,Rift,DDO,DCUO I still keep on my computer. All have cash shops.
I can say I want grouping/raids/ and kins but if a larger percentile of their customers, who are Not on forums , whom we never know about,..contribute zero to that endeavor,..I can't say.
I guess the best we can look to ,..are "indies"? But omg,..kickstarter/indiegogo,..awash with "I wanna make an MMO!".
Do we need to let it all crash and fail Atari E.T. style,...? So that from the ashes,..a new ,unhindered by corporate tycoons, unmolested by 'comparing it to WoW' , MMO rebirth can emerge?!?

I really love this sockpuppet fellow. No idea what he's saying most of the time, but I'm digging him.
Same here!
Like the phoenix arise and be a merry MMO where f2p, raiding, grouping and kins can co-exist.
I agree these are not mutually exclusive. LOTRO changed the focus when they targeted more the solos (not knocking solos), the casual players (I'm not knocking casual players), and f2p. This seemed to coincide with the LOTRO store. I know, the store came first, then the rest of the dominoes fell. Not saying any one thing is particularly evil. But, it indicated a shift in LOTRO development. Which moved the focus from some of my favorite aspects of the game. Yes, I sound like a broken record, but, give me my great raids, group content, and reasons for kinships.
Beschutzer, You do write great posts! Well said, well said.

ty ty ,...I'm here all week,..whether I like it or not.
It deserves more time,..but lemme say quickly that my schedule of late consistently crunches my play time. In effect I do end up solo alot, except on weekend when I can go all out.
BUT
I know in my heart, that if they made Lotro more group focused..more raid driven,..more Kinship driven,(not sure what that entails), I would prefer that to the alternative solo centric stuff, even if it was a pain in the puppet. At least I wouldn't feel like the teacher soft-balled me, every one gets an "A" and a scratch & sniff sticker for a job well done! In fact,..if it were harder,...that may be even more a reason to purchase an Exp Pot,..so I can stay caught up with friends who play way more than me!
Hmm,..I see a correlation between my frantic posts and the 5pm daily coffee here.
anyways,..whistles blow'in,..time to go home,..and gulp,...work on my defiler for a change of pace.
night all!
this pic is not actually my sig,..but ya'll are making me want it in there,..hehe
The agreement till 2017 is good news, But i am still worry if there are any players then still playing the game...
This is a quote from Sapience in a other thread.
"Somehow two distinct comments were merged into one by some sites. The two questions were:
Will there be server mergers? No. There are no plans to merge servers.
Will players from EU servers ever be able to transfer to NA servers? Unlikely, there are significant technical issues preventing it.
If I'm being perfectly honest, there was really nothing new mentioned in the live stream that we haven't said before. Many of the questions were the same questions we're often asked with the same answers given. "
So everything they said in the live stream they have said before??? So u guys already said that there are no new traditional instances coming AFTER the Expansion? I have never readed that news anywhere.
2-3 years ago we had a active kinship of 20-30 active players every evening but now we just got maybe 2-3 active in a evening. thats because u guys lack group content and thats what we need in Lotro... We have discussed this on the forum of our website and everyone agreed that they will come back if we got some Traditional instances and raids back like we in SOA/Moria.. And i think its not only our kinship but i think many think like us.
I hope u guys are going to work on quality group content asap to bring hope and light to the game.![]()
tell y0u 0ne thing, don't lie to me! epic my horse!
You just replaced Sockpuppet guy as my favorite.![]()
Two of the kinships I been in left a year ago and joined RIFT. Only me and someone who doesn't speak English (who is the leader of the other i'm in) is the only ones left. Whenever I say Hi he logs off... so it was fun. I play RIFT as well sometimes I log in to LOTRO and see the achievements of the kin I was in, all the raiding glory the good ole' days.
I doubt they will, besides it is far too late to go back to that trend after they went to a new marketing agenda...
Happy to hear this. No need to pile on Sapience. I don't know what brought on the defensive posture, but it predictably spun out of control [backfired] and I think it is now regretted. We all want to have some confidence that the game we love will be here tomorrow. Sapience has relayed that there is a contract in place until 2017. Turbine must do their best to preserve their license and that is what they are planning to do. A simpler statement would have suited all interests better but let's take some comfort in what we now know.

I can't believe people are STILL talking about the blasted license. Anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together could easily glean the game isn't ending anytime soon. If Turbine had an inkling that there was any chance of LotRO dying, do you think they'd have invested so many dev hours in completely rebuilding the class mechanics from the ground up, completely re-vamping every class and every skill? They're clearly laying groundwork for future development, and anyone who denies the obviousness of that is participating in recreational fear-mongering.
