I was also referring to glff and those I talk to in-game. No more 12-man wall runs for the most part, few raids, a few instances by people but not even many of those since they took seals out. Mostly bored people I see less and less. Of course, I log on less and less as well.
Maybe if Turbine put forth more effort at satisfying all their customers the game would be a friendlier place as well.
I'd explain it to you, but I'm all out of Puppets and Crayons.

You know what guys I creep and I creep and I read and learn and I think I have finally read enough.
Do you all understand how many new players are in the game now that would otherwise not be now that the broken old and cluttered class system is gone?
Literally thousands and you know why we dont post here? Because of all of YOU
Venom, Hate, Exploded self importance you all can leave and let the new people decide if turbine is doing a good job and in turn the next group will kick us out but, for the love of god please please please stop being such debby downers and realize their are thousands of us who are now playing from scratch who are loving the game.
Ive read this forum consistently for 1 month every day. Their are 13 of you over and over same 13 its no wonder you all arnt getting a change you are 13 people who arnt happy compared to how many like myself still with 1 or 2 post playing the game???
just stop being so negative and hateful I love the game
Thank you.
While most times I am content to creep and read to learn and also kindle the excitement if you will for the game. I honestly think if this forums attitude does not change it should just be shut down. I stop by here right before leaving work as the phones die down to get myself not only information but emotional excitement for all I have to look forward to. So that I may lead my wife and self through the next step in the game.
What I meet instead is teen////chat///hashtag//upset.net.org.OMGbeckyITissoaw fulnoW.com
its not even worth reading anymore
LULZ! Says the guy who showed up like 10 days ago...If you never used it what position are you in to say it was cluttered, broken and old?
You know what, over the past 5 years I've supported the game and the company financially while you where playing hello kitty. In fact I WOULD go so far as to say I'm in a better position to say if turbine is doing a good job than a F2Per who joined last week so no, you can ####.
I find that an odd thing to say considering almost every thread that disintegrates into a slanging match does so because of one of the same 13 odd players that love everything Turbine does, deciding to post in every single thread on here, the ones telling those that have complaints about the game to stop playing, go away, imply their opinions aren't important.
Please don't take what I'm about to say in the wrong way, I am not meaning that those that have spent more money deserve more rights, or deserve to have their opinions heard more than others.
What I am saying is that many people have spent literally over £1000/$1000 supporting this game, have spent hours of their time over the years investing in what for many has become their main hobby. Such people have every right to say how they think their games been ruined.
Many of us are life long Tolkien fans and this is the only MMO where we can roam around in. Most of us have zero complaints about solo content, most of us solo a lot of the time too. It's the simple fact that you can set it on auto attack and just sit there staring at the screen that has become a problem (lack of end content aside)
So if your going to pick on those 13 (am I one of those, I have loads of complaints, I have been very vocal, I have also stuck up for other playstyles too), then you must also pick on those same people that take part in every thread saying the same things over and over again on how they think Lotro is perfect etc.
I would also say that most of the threads by complainers are by those that want Lotro to survive, want it to be a great game, and want to be able to play and enjoy themselves again, For your post to end in the way it does, I would say yours is one of the most hateful I've seen.
I'm also glad you have managed to get hold of the official figures that show literally thousands of new users since HD, so many new users that Turbine has decided not to do an expansion next year. When I log on (a couple of times a week) I am playing mainly my level 7 character with XP disabler, all I can say is that these thousands of new players aren't visiting the areas I'm visiting as they are virtually deserted.
I love the game too. But having been here for 5 years and a couple thousands dollars I have this insane notion that I have a right to be heard. So do you. That's why I continue to ask for Turbine to fix it and improve the game we both love so we can both enjoy it -not just you.
I'd explain it to you, but I'm all out of Puppets and Crayons.

I respect what you say and the effort in making me see what you see.
All I can say is that the new players are obvious via steam and the starting areas I have visited on brandy wine alone. I cannot pass judgement on everyone who posts here or even the 13 mentioned all I can say is it is demoralizing coming to a forum of a newfound hobby and geting halfway through a thread before the end is nigh and some of the most vile things I have ever read on a gaming forum start.
The best part? Its the same 3 things with the same 13 people (you are not one) its like the forum is their own personal purgatory the generate the things they hate and discuss until one of them passes out from sheer frustration. It needs to stop why else would I feel compelled to even write this to all of you?
I urge you to re evaluate what you say here it is a serious detterent to all new comers of any age
Wait wait way,....hold up,...Am I doing this wrong?
You guys are 'Supporting" turbine?
I am Paying to play a game.
I pay for play. If I don't like it,..I stop paying.
What's this support' stuff? Is this Kickstarter? Are we feeding starving kids in Boston here? I don't care 'bout that! Don't like it,..stop working for game companies!
I pay for stuff. When I "Support" ,...example: Kickstarter,...I support,..meaning I toss'em a few bucks and wish them luck. I don't write back saying,..yo, son.
You finish making those SockPuppet googly eyes made from old 45 records yet??? You Owe me, Dawg!!
If I pay for a Big mac with Pickles,..I get a Big Mac with pickles,...all good.
If the bOx don't say nuthin 'bout having pickles and I pay and find out there are no pickles,..I freak out,...but dang, yo,..I knew there were no pickles,..why'd I do that?
YOu get what you paid fo'! Where you duped? False advertising? Bam,..you got a case,..lead the charge!
Do we need a sticky here? Can we get a sticky? A sub-forum? The Negative Thread? No,..Keep it real.
Ya'll want raids? Keep at it,..Let them hear you.
When you see a Raid release,.....come back and Pay for it. Save that 'support' nonsense for IndieGoGo.
YOu ain't gonna do anythin 'cept join in the fray! Turn,...some one gonna say something ,..something personal,..a pet peeve,..you gona swing that saber!
ah man,...the feeling is a wonder. You will love yourself even more.
They,..yeah,..'they''.spooky right? have a point though,...they do have more experience in this game and they 'should' know what they are talking about,..even if not articulated as such sometimes,.
You remind me of a daydream I had today while laying in the MRI.
I had a thought of ,..well,..think about the perspective of the players who don't read forums or reviews. They just play. No pressure,..no big expectations other than what is in front of them. No clinging to promises and words and press release carrots. Ignorance is bliss??
these forums and dev diaries,..are just another PvP Meta game. Zerg rules.
I don't know where I am taking this,...
oh look at the time..
find stuff on the interwebs is awesome
You are exaggerating the influence of the forums on new player's opinions about the game. Even you - a new player visiting this place - do not have it formed by simply coming and reading.
A game forms player's opinion about the game. A ton of forums colored all in rose or black won't have a fraction of that power.
The messages of those '13 players' (I wish they were only 13, though) are not directed to you, and cannot influence your experience.
Actually, you are in an awesome position at this moment - just have to log-in and have fun.
Are you the 'newly wed' guy from the other thread? Well, even if one has a good life, one gets married eventually. I hope that's not the reason for your rants...
Just joking. Congrats and all the best. You'll be coming to these forums again, in a year or maybe two. Poke me when that happens, I'd like to hear what you have to say then. Right now it's both known and uninteresting.
I'm happy to pay for a raid release, but they have to actually decide to make one first. At that point I have 3 accounts that would be willing to begin paying again, and a number of toons I would level to participate.
Consider this a customer comment card. That's what the forums are for.
I'd explain it to you, but I'm all out of Puppets and Crayons.

What new players via steam?
if you are talking about that slight increase in numbers you are stretching things vastly trying to claim that signifies a influx in new players, that rise (which is already nearly died off , and will be lower than b4 HD within the next week or so) is just as much to do with current players logging in thanks to the new expansion so they could see the changes and christmas.
Take a look at the jump last christmas and compare it to this one, HD fails miserably in comparison and by March when the next big update is due steam will be showing the lowest lotro figures its ever had.the log in graphs show the same thing, there is always a jump in players after an expansion, only with HD its been a very small one and is already nearly wiped out.
just for a quick comparison:-
thur Jan 2nd @2200 hrs 2228 players
today thurs jan 17th @ 2200 hrs 1525
seems like those new players have left already

Ey ey,..not fo' nuthin,...but just saying I am not mocking starving kids anywhere,..Just digg'in at Boston like a good ny'er should
Right here, Turbine. See that? MOney. Dollar bills waiting in the wings.
I like that Customer Card thing. I'd suggest that be implement in the forums,..but well,...they just got the forums working decently and I'm afraid to break it!
I think when folks paid for the epic adventure of Helms Deep they look for certain features of the game. Same as a customer or you perhaps buying the same brand of car and find that one of the feature is broken or not of their standards, for you however since you don't use it or don't care for it, it is ok. What you are suggesting is that they should also feel the same exact appreciation you have for buying the same car?
What Turbine delivered with Helms Deep Big Battles was a Plant VS. Zombie gameplay where you placed a siege engine and wait for the mobs to rush you so you can click it and they all die. If that feature is ok for you then leave it at that, if it is not OK for others then they have every right to voice their opinions and not be told to leave and come back when Turbine deliver the feature they wanted.
Oh no you don't,.don't lump me in and turn this into an extension of some other back and forth you had with a lotro apologetic!
I never said I don't use anything in HD,..or don't care for anything about HD in that post. And I never used the word appreciation. Appreciates got nuth'in to do with it.
I hate Tower Defense games, btw. So over it,..anyone with Unity is making one.
And I specifically told 'them' to keep at it and post, let'em hear ya , yo.
But if you want a suggestion,..here ya go,..school O'hard knocks.
Do research before you buy,...don't be drooling at the doorstep. You got took,...it happens,...don't be fooled again. Important thing is,..did they Illegally screw you? No,.I doubt it.
Watching any play though ' vid would of informed you of the BB mechanics.
I guess Turbine is not in the business of returning purchases,.eh.
I bought RoR and got my horse,..ran in a circle,..and logged off,...this is some lame azz sh*(*^. What's that mean? I dunno.
But I like MC now, since I returned.
Really my post was a lazy rage against the word 'support' being used,...like we're doing Turbine some favor. that's all.
Oh,..but I didn't buy HD yet, btw. Now that I know there isn't much to it,.I can wait.
I did spend 40 bucks on TP to get my creep up to my friends range a few days ago and having fun in the Moors. I know what I'm gett'in, see!
Ya,..part of the problem! COme at me , bro!
srsly though,..nah,..it's late,..I'll be serious tomorrow.
cheers
I like this post.
Yes it is zerg rules and it was nice when this website could be a battlefield for us and on occasion turbine. Viewpoints could be expressed freely without fear of retaliation. We had a sort of informal agreement to keep our quarrels here. We had a place we felt we could express them. But they broke the agreement when someone obviously took sides and those who voiced concerns about game difficulty and lack of group play started to go missing. Some popped up on the site that shall remain nameless and still others are popping up on social media. Not a wise move by turbine. Not trying to say an individual is responsible for this maybe it is a culture thing.

Yep, that's the same graph. Dip in similar timeframe - Oct - Jan. Not as extreme, but the numbers are back up to where they were before.
The fact that they've stated that the approach is based on player feedback, the fact that I've seen such feedback in the forums and in-game. Maybe you think that's flimsy but it's more evidence than you have.
Yes, clearly - that and the very vocal complaints of the player base for many months now. Like you and others, I am glad they are addressing the issues this year.
Maybe from your point, but it's not my job to make your point. I am focused on my own points, and sticking with those. If there's specific discrepancies to address, I will address them but I think I've been pretty thorough in responding in the conversation.
You call my perspective naive, I call yours cynical. Stalemate.
"A cynic is someone who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing."
-- Oscar Wilde
"Cynicism isn't smarter, it's only safer. There's nothing fluffy about optimism."
-- Jewel Kitcher
I'm not predicting anything. I am looking at what has been planned by Turbine. And yes, if they fail me again like they failed me with housing updates, they will not be let off the hook.
Yeah, I guess that's probably confirmation bias at work on both sides. I see some of those who were complaining like crazy in beta now really pleased with the changes, but this is all at best - on both sides, just totally anecdotal.
No argument there. There was never a lot of meat on any of those bones, but it was at least something. And I did/do enjoy those Erebor instances, I really do, but not anywhere near like I enjoy the multi-boss instances of yore.
Like I've said before, content you don't like is still content. But I understand your pain.
Yes, it's a shame. It's like those old marketing maxims - "A happy customer might tell one or two people, while an unhappy customer will tell at least a dozen." I think there were even statistics to that effect.
On this we can agree. There has to be something more that can be done, at the very least in terms of communication, to make those who are 'left out' - if not happy - at least less angry. I see this as a hill they will have to climb if they hope to put a stop to some of the negativity and doom and gloom. They say they have no plans for more raids at this point, they could at least give us a sense of when there will be more scaled instances. I know Sapience said that Angmar instances are under discussion (excluding the Rift). If they would just give people that to look forward to at least, it would be a start.
I don't understand why some folks insist on putting huge graphical unrelated pictures in their posts, however I found my ignore button and that works beautifully.
Back to your regularly scheduled (now much more pleasing to the eye) discussion.
I'd explain it to you, but I'm all out of Puppets and Crayons.
