    Spring Festival 2014??

    Ok, my internal calendar is not spot-on to say the least, but I think the Spring Festival is waaaay late starting this year. I think in 2013 the Spring Festival was in late March and the Anniversary Festival was sometime in May. Since the Anniversary Festival came earlier this year, are we even going to have a Spring Festival this year? Anybody with info, I would greatly appreciate.

    You got your dates off a bit.

    Spring Festival 2013 --> May 21, 2013 - June 4, 2013
    Anniversary 2013 --> April 16, 2013 - April 30, 2013

    Lotro live launched on April 24, 2007. The anniversary is the last couple of weeks of April which pushes the Spring Festival into May at the earliest. Spring in the northern hemisphere is middle of April thru middle of June. For this year the northern astronomical spring is April 20, 2014 - June 20, 2014.

    Didn't the spring festival follow immediately after the anniversary last year?

    It may have been three years ago as I was playing at that time, but they did seem pretty close together on both occasions.

    Not according to the:
    http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/LOTR...ry_Celebration
    http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Spring_Festival_2013
    wiki

    The year that I remember that was strange was 2009:

    For North American Servers the Spring Festival started on March 24, 2009. Which was before the Anniversary event on April 24, 2009.

    Yes Sir! Give me a twofer on the festival. I do not have to go out and kill stuff to level my characters.

    As others have noted, last year the Festival came in late May and has been in a similar time frame in previous years as well.
    We actually discussed this in a recent "Take the Hobbits to Isengard" live stream and dev chat. I mentioned it was slated for the end of May.

    I just wish you'd go back to having it in March.

    March is still winter in the northern hemisphere, iirc, it was still snowing mid april in the northern USA.

    Middle to end of May is appropriate in my opinion

    So what if it was snowing in April. Heck where I live we have gotten snow in May. So I guess May should be out then.

    Spring starts in March. They use to have it in March. By having it end of May, there is just too many festivals close together & people get festival burn out.

    Only until the Vernal Equinox AKA March 20th, then it is Spring. Weather conditions have absolutely ZERO to do with what season it is.

    And that actually depends on which traditions you follow. Some traditions hold that spring begins on February first, and that the equinox is mid-spring. But no traditions I've ever seen hold that spring begin any later than the equinox.

    I like when they also slip the Farmer's Fair in before summer festival. And the Treasure Hunt.

    (I love festivals!)

    Considering "Spring" the season is from the Spring Equinox until the Summer Solstice, you could have a festival anytime in there. End of May is still spring.

    What should really boggle your mind is that Oktoberfest is in September!

    Yes, but by the time you recover from it you are in mid-October.

    Now it has been quite some time since I was in Elementary School, but I was always taught the spring months were March, April, May. So any time within those months is acceptable for a Spring Festival.

    Ya, unfortunately they taught you wrong, on the calendar Spring is March 20th till June 21st. A late May spring festival is smack in the middle of Spring for the northern hemisphere.

    Interesting fact, but it depends on what country you're in. I actually looked this up a few years back when this sort of discussion was going on (again about festivals in this game not being at the right time). While in the US, the seasons start on the equinoxes and the solstices, in other countries they start on different dates. Parts of Europe tend more towards the March 1st as the start of Spring, but in other countries it can be even earlier.

    So since it snowed today where I am at in May that is still considered winter?

    Ah that's cute. Too bad you already missed the Easter Bunny, but do pm me when you lose a tooth so I can contact the Tooth Fairy for you.

    I know that it's too much to hope for, but I would like to see something done about the Bullroarer's Challenge (the drinking while walking on a fence event) to make it more friendly for uncoordinated folk such as myself. I have two characters who have completed everything in the Spring Festival except for this particular deed and I've been trying to finish it the past two years. That's a lot of beer! 'hic' It'd be nice to clear it out of my deed log
