New resident of Great Smials? Donnamira Took, Librarian

While starting yet another character, this time on Crickhollow, I met someone in Great Smials in Tuckborough whom I'd never seen before. I've met Adelard Took, Pervinca Took, and the Thain, but this time the Library next to Adelard has a resident: Donnamira Took, whose subtitle is "Librarian of Great Smials". She's not interactable, and she doesn't have a scholar icon. Just standing there watching me. Checking the Google machine, it doesn't look like anyone else has been taking notice of her, though she *is* mentioned in passing in the Canon.

When did she arrive? Is she part of a quest chain? I can imagine her objecting if I had the Bird and Baby "Go check a yellowed recipe out of the library at Great Smials" quest and just tried taking it.

I have noticed her too. I think she was added at about the time the Yule festival started. There is one non-repeatable Yule festival quest in the Shire that requires that you visit the Library, and that was when I noticed her. I did do the ordinary Shire quests on another character not all that long before, and then I do not remember seeing her.

So far I have not found any quest that involves her.

Exactly same situation for me, saw her first time when playing the quest chain for the Yule-tree.

    Good eye!

Donnamira is indeed a new arrival, but her quest is still in the oven. You'll hear more from me when it's time.

    Oooh! Interesting!

What about the new hobbits in Michel Delving? Bingo's three neighbours, Poppy, Merrimac and Myrtle? Do they belong to a new quest too?

That library does attract ghosts, doesn't it?

But no, it's a different Donnamira.

Yes, that's about right. It was in T.A. 2948 (1348 in Shire-reckoning), same year when Theoden was born

On Bullroarer we found a NPC map label for a [Bingo Badge Barter] NPC by Bree West Gate.

Maybe a Bounder's Bounty type server event is coming. :P

I've been wondering, as they're labelled as "Bingo's Neighbor" and "Bingo's other Neighbor", whether this references Bingo Bolger of Budgeford, or a new additional Bingo? If Budgeford's boorish bumpkins are bereft of Bingo Bolger, who shall remind us of the need to keep the dire sickle-fly population under contol? We'd be beset by buzzing botheration from the banks of Bywater to the bluffs of our burbling Brandywine!

I feel like I don't even need to say anything! You guys are doing fine on your own!

But seriously: pardon our dust. Some of this stuff isn't hidden well enough yet, and will be more well-hid before everything begins and it's all un-hid. I think I'll be bowing out of this thread now, because this is all stuff we're not talking about yet. I'm super excited! But patience is good too.

And I'm super excited that the Shire is getting tarted up! It's still my favourite part of Middle-earth (book, game and even movie), and I'm very glad to see it still has your attention.

    Sneaky!

I'll be looking forward to seeing what it is that will begin!

Very nice to see that there'll be something new to do in the Shire! It might be the most beloved area in the game, but since it takes centuries to level a new alt to lvl 100 (when you do not have 2 hours a day to play this game) you almost gladly craft yourself to lvl 20+ within a day in the Three-Farrow crafting hall...

But as you see your level rise from 6-12 in no-time while hammering at the forge (perhaps 30 minutes with enough crafting resources?) you think of the wonderful hours / days you used to spend in the Shire to gain that same amount of XP, and that now it's kind of completely useless to go there (in terms of progression).

Perhaps this has something to do with the episodic content where we will follow a new friend across Middle-earth seeing familiar places in a new light.

That's what I suspect as well, and based on MoL's comments it might very well be

Goldenstar is a form of a poppy, isn't it? Merrimac sounds awfully similar to Merric. Is Myrtle a small child? That might be Elizabeth (Baby Hobbit).

A nice thought, but it seems like a stretch; their podcast ended a year and a half ago. But anyway, no, Myrtle appears to be a grown hobbit (and a rather odd looking one at that -- a bit like Grima from the LOTR movies, if you ask me! :-p).

BTW, the 4th house (presumably belonging to "Bingo") has several items outside of it. A bucket, a tea kettle, a ball of yarn, a satchel, and what looks like a walking stick. The yarn ball looks just like the one near the Party Tree, so I suspect that these will be quest items.

I found a random pile of books while leveling an alt in the Lone Lands. I'm pretty well versed with this area, and I've definitely never seen this until today. Anyone know what it is?

Perhaps it's related to the new Librarian in some way, as a pile of nice looking books all tied up with string might be of interest to her?
