I thought I read somewhere that there are "portals" to regions in places that don't make sense. Is this true and is it due to a bug or on purpose?

There are safeguards that have been put into place to keep people from corrupting their character data. If you get into one of these, you get ported to the racial starter location. If you get into one that has not had the guards put in place, it is possible to lose that character, but in practice that has not been something of a regular occurrence.

I don't buy that story for a second. They just want you to find access points so we don't get to see what's behind the screens.

Then go test it on BR when it is up. I am certain an expert roof jumper could find those holes if they are there.

And, given your assumption, if your character gets corrupted on
BR, it doesn't matter because there will be another wipe presently
and you can copy over again.

Sometimes I reckon I don't give enough praise for the truly great stuff in the game like the stories. Many times my kinmates and I have marveled at the storylines and said that if they could somehow be made into novel form we would buy that book in a heartbeat.

The Epic quests are fantastic and well...Epic of course, but sometimes the little gems I find are just as fun or more to me.

One of my early level favorites has got to be the Eldo and Asphodel chain in Staddle. Being a dog person myself I can totally relate to how a Hobbit's loyalty to his dog may > the love of a girl. Thankfully, it all works out right and Eldo ends up with both! Win!

Oh and if you feel the need to spark your inner Pyromaniac there's always Lobelia's Fireworks!

Once we get to the Scouring of the Shire in game, I think we need a session play as Lobelia as she tries to fend off Sharkey's Men with her umbrella.

That was an awesome story. He was so passionate about his dog.

There's only 1 story I truly regret: Candaith's death in Enedwaith.

He was by far my favorite NPC in the whole game. He was the first guy I actually went on a meaningful adventure with to kill orcs after I left the home-map of Breeland. I cared about the fact that he got injured on Weathertop.

That he dies might actually make for a great story, cause of the emotional attachment I had to that character, but the way in which it was done... Lying about him being Isildur's heir, it was kind of an anticlimax.

That said, after finishing Vol 3 youcan be certain of the fact that I gave this a very prominent place in my house



Please 'resurrect' him and make him die honorably Maybe have him die in battle, saving Aragorn's butt at the black gate. His return would make for a huge moment!

You missed the lead-up to that incident. Halbarad had had a
Dwarf Jeweller make several copies of the Ring of Barahir,
and given them to trusted Rangers, instructing them to use
the ring and claim to be the Heir of Isildur, if necessary to
win over reluctant Dunlendings and/or Dead.

Candaith carried out his orders. And you'll note the Dead chieftain's
response was, "We will follow the Heir of Isildur. But you are not
he."

Candaith died for his King. He wasn't the only Dunadan to do so,
and if given a chance beforehand to avoid the assignment and
escape with his life, or to carry out his orders and die for Aragorn,
he would've chosen to do the latter.

I've done the dream sequence now, in which Candaith shows us
bits of the future (don't forget, Arda is a world in which prophecies
can come true). It is always so pleasant to see Candaith again,
even though he is dead.

Well I was aware of all that you just explained, I still think it does Candaith injustice (lying? really? lying + dying is a coward's death). Because of this strong connection, I want him to get 'resurrected' (as in he survived the blow, recovered at that dwarf's library and came after the grey company). He could be a magnificent deus ex machina to save Aragorn and his men from a lost situation.

(if we had built up such a strong connection with a character like Erkenbrand, imagine the feels when he came to Theoden's rescue at Helm's Deep)

Then again, Candaith is my favourite character in all of the game. But then again, it's all lost now isn't it they made a statue of him and let his spirit appear in a dream. That's why I say: Letting him die like that in the first place was a big mistake.

Berephon designed most of the regional quests in Stoke. We talked about taking the story in a different direction, but he felt strongly about who lives and who dies, and I wanted to respect that. There's no shortage of debate behind-the-scenes about every region, and that's been true since before launch. Almost nothing arrives on the live servers in its original form; everything gets discussed and modified along the way. Most designers have plenty of metaphorical battle-scars from pitching their ideas and defending them.

This is exactly why I'd like to know who wrote what. While re-reading this thread it suddenly occurred to me that one of the best authored arc, and one most quoted by me, is completely anonymous... to me.

Its funny now but it was truly anguishing. From the time 'he' shows up until the instance is over I kept waiting for a good guy, or even ME, to do something. How could we let Isengard get away with that?

I was annoyed by the grind but I think this instance is made more troubling by the fact that you did all that work for the kid and you knew as soon as that line is displayed how it was going to turn out, and that all your work, and all his work, was pointless, and that we are helpless to prevent what was about to happen.

Where are the author credits? And who is that brilliant writer?

Berephon's Milhavior Chronicles books are only available in paperback right now. The first three books were created in an older composition program and it's going to take me a while to convert them to the newer program, then export and convert for Kindle. Eventually I'd like to expand to Nook, but that's down the road a bit.

Generally, anything new we publish goes out as paperback and Kindle right away. We made an exception for Berephon's last book because it would be weird to only have the last book (maybe last two) of a set in Kindle, but not the first three.

We currently have four books available on Kindle: My Tolkien book, the Tales with a Twist anthology, and the two RudderHaven Science Fiction and Fantasy anthologies. Berephon plans on writing at least one story for this year's RudderHaven SFF anthology, due out by Gen Con.

If I might chime in; I don't think that a deus ex machina would do the storyline any good, and I also don't remember a situation in the book where Aragorn had his back saved like this. What I could imagine, is another dream sequence where Candaith walks you through an event that might happen, and that has to be prevented from happening, so that Aragorn can reach the fields of Pelennor in time. Maybe Candaith asks you to convey a warning message to Aragorn, together with a cryptic sentence that makes him reply, 'ah yes, Candaith as he lives... well, no more', and then he sighs.
