I know VIPs used to have priority access. But I haven't seen any postings since 2012 that Priority log-ins are still a practice.
The current VIP benefits page doesn't list priority queuing as still in practice.

"Priority Login Priority ..."
Not much of a benefit to go to the head of the queue when there is no queue, so perhaps buried on the secondary page for that reason.![]()

Whatever the problem is, it is most likely NOT a case of the server being full, or there being a waiting queue for logins.
So VIP having priority or not is irrelevant since it won't be a question of priority.
When the launcher displays a 'Server full' error message, the server is usually not actually full. That is just a catch-all error message that is shown for several different types of login errors.
see heres the thing its an MMO, which means if old matey wants to get the band together, well he can, and if i want to go and throw flower petals on his band
and set fire works off, then light a camp fire under the hobbit drummer well i can do that too.
if you think that kind of thing sux, go play destiny bro, so much less hassle for people with that dont want the full MMO experience.

He's still right. Server should reserve spots for vips before it goes full and after that kick afk and f2p dummies which often are multiboxed as well. Hes not saying that someone ruina his gameplay by playing someway but actually saying that there should be priority on vips and players who hog 6-12 slots by themselves and dont get kicked because of actual paying customers is kinda ridicilious.
i got in with no wait while this was going on in world chat. perhaps lifetimers have mostestest highestest priority?
This issue had nothing to do with priority. When the login server gets in a bad state, player will get the server full message. When it does get in that state nobody can get in regardless of what your subscription level is. The login servers need to be restarted by us to fix it if that does happen.
Ok... let's get one thing clear. You have no idea what you're talking about. Now that we have that clear, How do you think the game knows you're a VIP so that you get perks like anywhere mail? OH! That's right... you dont know what you're talking about so you have no clue. I, on the otherhand, was a part of the dev team for 3 NWN1 servers. Everyone played regardless of whether or not they donated to help keep up the designated server. Those that did got priority. Dont sit there and tell me they cant. They advertize that they give you priority as a VIP and We want what we were promised. And if their queue isnt working or isnt large enough, they need to fix it. We are PAYING for that.
You are a troll who likes to see his words in print. Kindly do us all a favor and go wallow in your stupidity elsewhere.

Yes. Turbine has mentioned that there are server issues. Or eluded to it anyway. But it is a problem that needs to be addressed. I dont care whether it is hardware or software. It is a situation that should be addressed and since it is a paid for service, it should have priority... along with the other priorities.
And just as an FYI: this is a dry emotionless reply. Dont take my dealing with the troll as my default attitude.

...and is neither forbidden nor punishable on a server that ISN'T labeled RP, whether it's Brandywine or no. You might get trolled, or ignored, but you are free to do it.
RP servers are simply a place where you're more likely to find someone to RP back.
Also, the idea that the server should boot F2P people to make room for VIP is a bit abhorrent, even for a Lifer like myself. AFK, maybe, but if someone is actively playing the game, there's no reason to kick em for little ole me.

I think you quoted the wrong post. The person you quoted is arguing that playing music is not inherently RP and that only acting and talking within a self-defined role is RP. Music is just music.
And yes, anyone can RP on any server in LOTRO at any time. If you are not on the RP or RE server, then you have to take your chances on getting into an RPpug (I just made that up).

"I am condescending, that means I talk down to you." Well just for those who go out of their way to need it.
You do know you are being .... silly? is that the word I want. No. Maybe unrealistic. yeah I'll go with that. You do know you are being unrealistic. Turbine makes far more money off of many 'f2p' accounts then they do off of "VIP". So no. They are not going to 'KICK' f2p to keep you happy. When the plane is full the plane is full and if you paid full price for your ticket, and there is someone on the plane paid half price, he/she is not going to get kicked off the plane for you. Now if you both showed up at the counter at the same time waving your tickets and the ticket agent knew there was one seat left he/she might take your ticket and give you a boarding pass. And maybe turbine has tried to put in software that will do that.
But it is silly to expect them to kick people for you. That is just bad business and as I said many f2p people pay more then the majority of the VIP crowd. I should avoid getting into the lifer thing but I have to say I think turbine made a mistake in giving the lifers the 500tp a month. That should have been reserved as a perk for the people paying a monthly sub. Giving lifers that 500 free tp made it so turbine had to find a way to make the majority of VIP spend more then 500tp a month in order to get any income from lifers which caused them to nickel and dime people who where paying $15 dollars a month to play which caused people to then drop their subs. Who wants to pay $15 dollars a month and get nickeled and dimed to death.
After a period of time losing people who were paying $15 dollars a month turbine realized it was nice having that sub money as well as money from TP so they tried to make VIP worth more. Hence the hobbit presents. Look hobbit presents and if you are VIP you get a gold one weekly. And if VIP you get this and that... and I'm sure someone was assigned the job of making a list of all the things VIP got and very possibly stuck in the bit about 'priority service' without actually talking to a programmer to see how reasonable that was or true.
Not like it comes up often. Does it. This recent thing was on the login server not the game world server which was either too busy to talk to your computer or it wasn't. If it was to busy to talk to your comp it didn't actually have a way to prioritize.
To get so upset is silly. Hey. I logged on four accounts on two computers and yeah. Each time I had to start the launcher more then once. OH MY GOD!! What an inconvenience. One of my four accounts I actually had to try four times to get logged on. Took me like... I don't know. One minute.
And yeah they are all f2p. So feel free to cuss me. In truth though I'm not sure I deserve it. I hated the idea of F2P before it was introduced and for the first two years of f2p I steadfastly tried to ignore it and kept paying my $15 a month sub on my four accounts. And that whole time I hated the store and the nickel and diming that turbine did. Then I finally stopped paying a sub. Now the store no longer bothers me, and turbine still makes money off me. But they would not if they initiated a policy of kicking me to make room for a lifer.
Don't go hating on Lifers to much now, there's probably not that many around still and we took the gamble to shell out a couple of hundred frogskins at the very infancy if the game not even knowing it would pay off in the long run in regards to the game still being around compared to if we went sub only. The House lost on that bet for the few still around, but I'd wager they still made out on total of Lifer accounts sold vs. number of Lifer accounts still even playing.
A pittance of an allowance of 500 TP is less than half of what I still spend per month to keep my game interesting, (I stock up on TP when the sales hit) but IIRC the main reason they did it was so that we could still get "free" expansion packs by applying the 'free' TP towards them.
And to be fair, I'm usually the first one to say, "Every time a Lifer uses their Lifer status to ask for more free perks, Sauron kills a kitten... THINK OF THE KITTENS, PEOPLE!!"
