World Transfers

Meneldor isn't open to transfer yet. They opened the *surviving* servers first, so players could move between them, presumably expecting a low number of transfers (for testing purposes) That gets closed soon, if it hasn't already. Then at some later point in time (vague) the smallest servers start opening, a few at a time. Somewhere, there is a list, but as I recall, Meneldor is actually last to go. Unless that list has changed, Elendilmir was first, which was something of a surprise.

I believe I read the next moves open at the end of September.

Forgive my confusion, but I've been away on vacation for a while. Is the world transfer service available now between the surviving servers? From what I can gather from the forums, it looks like it is available, but I don't have a transfer option on my world selection screen. "Play" is still the only option there. Any clarification would be appreciated!

They only opened up transfers for about 48 hours to test this week, and closed it again on Friday so they can look at the logs and see if there have been any more problems that need fixing. It will probably open up again next week, perhaps after a patch if needed.

Unfortunately there is no way to tell how long a time passes between me submitting the ticket and the ticket being worked on. If I delete the kinship, then log off and transfer my kinship leader, he will arrive there with the "Guildname-1" Tag, the transfer is almost immediate, however responses to my ticket will (most likely) not be - In theory this could make for quite a while of time in which my desired kinship name would be in jeopardy. I hope the timestamp of my ticket (and it being prior to any other person "claiming" my kinship name after me deleting it) will be proof enough to get my desired name, should any issues arise.

That is what I have been trying to explain. I am not the owner of that kinship on the server I am moving to, which is why I can't delete it. If i WAS the owner of that kinship on the new server there wouldn't be a problem at all. I really do not know how to explain it more clearly, have done so twice now, but I will do it 1 last time. Hopefully I will actually get a dev response for all this trouble.

The best way around that would probably be to have a second account with the new kin name holder.
Before you submit the ticket you would start two Lotro clients, one with your main character that leads "kinname-1" and the second with your kin name holder for "newkin".
Submit the ticket that you would like "kinname-1" renamed to "newkin". When the GM contacts you and tells you that "newkin " is taken you can delete "newkin" and tell him that you deleted it now and he should try again. Since you use two accounts there is no need to relog and you can keep contact with the GM all the time.

Yeah you have two options there, the best option may be as said above to try and change your kinship name now. I wouldn't worry too much by the way about people swooping in and stealing your kinship name, servers are moving one by one, and unless your kinship has made enemies on your server and someone is going to try and steal whatever name they can steal out of spite, there is a very very low chance some other kinship leader on your server that moves on the same day you will, will be making a kinship with that particular name.

Also, is your kinship name available on other servers? For me that was part of the decision as to which server I am moving to. I narrowed it down to two choices based on how the community was, and ended up choosing Arkenstone mainly because our kin name was still available there.

When can we transfer out of Firefoot? All my accounts are there, so far I have not seen FireFoot available for transfer.... Have I missed it? Or will they open it up later?

The remaining worlds are the worlds that are... remaining after the consolidation.

That means transfer can only occur between Crickhollow, Arkenstone, Gladden, Landroval and Brandywine (Lately, it's only been transfers off of Brandy)

Firefoot is one of the closing worlds so that's why you don't have it available for transfers when they've opened in the past couple of weeks and is also why they don't mention it. Soon they will open transfers for the closing worlds and then you can do your thing.

Here is last week's update from Vyvyanne, since some seem to read over it. I have highlighted some important parts:

First I want to thank everyone who participated in the initial transfers that occurred last week. Due to some unrelated connection issues we had to turn of the service after only a short couple days and before we could really kick off US transfers, but in that time we received a lot of data that will help us improve the service even more. If you attempted a transfer last week and encountered any issues, please open a ticket with Customer Support and they should be able to help you out.

We are releaseing a patch this morning with the improvements and at that time we will open up the service for 48 hours for the 5 Remaining US worlds: Arkenstone, Crickhollow, Landroval, Gladden and Brandywine (off world only) to shuffle among themselves. The service will then be turned off again Friday morning as we assess the data and wait for some of the new hardware effort to catch up to our transfer progress. Note from maartena: This has already happened between 8/26 and 8/28

Currently we expect the new hardware and data center to be available for public testing on Bullroarer in early September and are planning an event around that. More info as we get closer.

In mid-September to Early October we expect to start open transfers off of the closing worlds to the remaining worlds. We will begin with the smaller population worlds so as not to tax the old hardware as we transition to the new but still allowing those on the quiet worlds to start getting to know their new communities. In the October to November time frame is when we expect to be able to do the full switch over to the new hardware and data center for everyone and turn on transfers across all worlds. Please note this is our current timeline and is subject to change based on other delays that may occur during build out.

For those concerned about the free transfer timeline between remaining worlds that we originally set to end on October 1st, we are adjusting this plan. We will no longer have a time frame for free transfers, but are instead working out a way for everyone to have a chance to change their mind on their destination server once before having to pay to do so again.

So once again I want to thank everyone for their patience. This is a monumental task to undertake and we are making every effort to ensure it goes as smoothly as possible, but in order to do that sometimes it means taking pauses or delays in schedule. And this is only the largest of the upgrades we are working on for this year! You should be getting eyes on our new in-game storefront in the coming months as well as a new website coming in the months following that! So many shiny new updates for Lord of The Rings Online coming up both in-game and out, so stay tuned.

Yes, it's confusing as "remaining" can mean different things. They mean the worlds that will remain open, not the remaining worlds to transfer. It seems most people are interpreting it in the latter method, while they mean the former.

Unknown. I'm guessing it's a normal rotation, but I bought 3 slots on one account and 1 slot on my 2nd account. There could be more sales but it has not been announced.

Also 2 from the consolidation event. The max number used to be 21, and that was with the Beorning bundle I bought, that got me from 20 to 21
