Bingo Boffins and Episodic content

I haven't been to Mirkwood in years, so I forgot all about the hobbit, Hal Tiller, that came along with the Malledhrim. I wonder why they would let this hobbit come along with them but have an issue with Bingo.

I don't remember this Hobbit at all. As for BB, have you seen him ? He is wandering around with a smile, and a flower on his jacket, apparently acting like he is on vacation somewhere fun. Reminds me the tourist in the Terry Pratchett book (the one with the luggage).
I know I wouldn't let him go anywhere near a frontline if I were that elf.

Actually, I looked closely at Bingo's face at one point with this week's latest quest. He wasn't smiling at all. He looked quite serious. Possibly not as nervous as he did in the Frogmoors, however.

I did the instance yesterday on my 60 RK. On the way up the hill, don't aggro too many enemies at the same time. Let the NPC elves do their share and you just snipe the enemies one at a time. On your RK, pop a couple of heals if those elves start to get yellow, and use lightning/fire runestones to stun/aggro if needed.

In the last fight, I did die twice because I tried some foolhardy things and aggroed the boss. He kills on-level squishies in 2-3 hits. Let Fuirgam tank him, his elf warriors beating him down, while you just apply a bleed / fire DoT on him occasionally, to help the elves. When he summons adds (twice, if I remember correctly), concentrate on those and take them down as fast as possible. You can let the elves take the beating here as well, and pick the orcs one at a time. Or, they could all attack you by default, which will require some faster reacting. Hunter roots, fears, dazes help here alot.

That RK of mine has been doing Bingo quests in sync with the story line, but now he has been lagging behind. Since this is not my main, not even in top 5 when it comes to most played characters, the lvl jumps in Bingo quests have required some serious pacing through the content.

Tried focusing on the adds once they came, Furgham was killed by the boss rather fast. So not sure what I'm doing wrong. I got so tired of this instance that I just don't want to do it on level anymore. Which is sad because it makes Mirkwood an afterthought instead of something I want to push through.

Wondering also where Bingo will go from here since Great River is 75 and I can't see another way over to Dunland.

Yep, this was exactly my problem and is why I've stopped trying to follow the Bingo quests. I felt like it became a job or a chore to try to stay leveled up enough each week, and that's not how I play LOTRO. Once you hop off the Bingo train, it isn't very easy to get back on. (yes, I know that they will still be there if and when I level up, but at that point they just start feeling like any other set of quests in a region).

Guess my hunter has to say good bye to Bingo then. Just lvl 60 and I tried this instance recently several times on my 63 RK without luck. Probably have to continue at 70 or 80.

I had trouble with this as well, and died during the quest. I was able to run back before the NPCs were killed by the enemy, and helped them finish them off. I had forgotten how tough that quest was.

I'd just about forgotten about the luggage - that would make a great cosmetic pet (shame its impossible as its from the wrong world), would explain how we are able to carry tons of ore and half a forest of branches around - one of the Discworld games did use it as the inventory.

I didn't realize it was a miniature - like a bird house. So there was me, clicking on the damn tree for too many clicks than I care to admit! :-) Still, a nice decoration.

My toon fully caught up to Bingo had not done alot of Mirk stuff so I took the time to do a bunch of the killing quests in the areas I was at to finish a deed. A very much around the world kind of adventure. I wonder how many more weeks here? 2 Maybe?

The only thing that threw me off about the current episode was the referral to sage "bushels". Now, I don't know about anyone else, but to me a bushel is a measurement, and a pretty large too, especially for an herb. Sage "bushes" maybe?

I enjoyed this weeks episode. I wasn't too crazy about the running around gathering part, but the end was pretty cool and added a bit to the towns past history.

Hehe, the funny thing is that they got the German translation just right - "Büschel". So they translated improper English to proper German this time? Now that's new!

I still wish Bingo wasn't so passive - I guess perhaps writers are like that. But seems like to really write about it, he should be doing at least something himself. From my perspective, would be more interesting to have him alongside, perhaps even spot some of the objects to be collected first, etc. But, still enjoying this.

Really enjoyed this week's episode. I have been around a long time but I do not really play Alts - so it has been years since I have been in Mirkwood. For once, I did not mind all the running around! It brought back a ton of memories actually. And the story had a nice twist at the end. A very satisfying adventure this week. I cannot thank the LOTRO team enough for these amusing and satisfying weekly diversions.

It's gratifying to know that those descriptions are being read! Half of the time it feels like I'm writing the things I write mainly to amuse myself. :P
