    Rude NPC's

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but some of the NPC's crack me up "What do you want?!" "Why are you bothering me?"
The worst one is Candaith at the beginning of the Stand at Amon Sul skirmish. "What do you need?". I don't need anything bubba. I'm here to help you hold the hill and keep your butt alive, you're welcome lol.

I don't like that skirmish. So tiring running around lighting those dang bonfires. Feel like I lost 20 pounds after I am done with the skirmish. LMAO

I consider lighting those as optional so I usually opt not to

    Cool

My favourite: "You may be of service to me." (Random Elf NPC)

A close runner up (thanks to voice acting): "A-gha-gha-gha-gha-y do not know if we survive this onslaught." (Random Rohirric NPC)

Reminds me of FotR; "What do you want?" as the hobbits arrive in Bree, from the gate-keeper.

1 second pause...."We wish to stay in the inn."

Obviously in the Middle-Ages people weren't trained for customer service. It was grim times. and 'blunt' talk was normal, so we shouldn't hold it against them

The worst are the Rohirrim. By the end of Rohan I was feeling pretty sympathetic to Saruman.

The Bree guards are wimps. "Can't you leave me to my misery?"
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming "WOW, what a ride!"

I just think of them as lost Americans wanting to go home to St. Louis. "Can't you lead me to my Missouri?"

"Time is short, and so is hope". I tried to create a hobbit named "Hope", just because of that, but the name was taken.

In that vein, I like to imagine all of the Eglain as pathetic weepy types who don't realize they completely out-power the Orcs and Goblins that destroyed their civilization. I don't hold it against them, I just laugh a little at the "We used to be such a strong people, can you spare a Broken Sword Sheath?" personality they have.

The Rude NPCs that annoy me most are the ones in the Breeland Homesteads. There are two ladies staring at an ancient monument next to one of the deluxe houses; all of their lines are complaining about it: "Imagine how many trees they had to cut down for this! Disgraceful" and "What an eyesore!" I actually moved because of them =)

...also because I wanted a Hobbit Hole...

While not technically NPC's, I love some of the comments from goblins/orcs, especially in the Training Ground instance at Dolven View.

    "I should have trained harder"
"Aiee! The <Hobbit/Elf/Dwarf/Man> is a killer!"

There was one NPC that would say to me when I would run by," What do you think you are, Cinders? Some kind of hunter?" I don't remember where it was but it always made me smile

    LOL wicked sharp there

I was surprised when they let me name my bear BearBehind because its always behind me (the disallowed serveral names)

Talking with the elves make me tired

    They are so "meh"

"what do want" "give heed to my words traveler" "dig my eyeball with a spoon"

They should all be wearing black with white make up (Gothe )

It's been a long time since I quested in Moria. But I kinda recall the dwarf NPCs kinda having a rude loud tone when you speak to them. And they were quite funny too.

I'm convinced there's a few hobbits who've hit their heads one too many times. You return back from halfway across the shire on an all day excursion to retrieve something for them, and as soon as you return, to give them the good news or the item they wanted and you get, "Don't you turn your back on me!!!!"

Some little lady didn't take her meds this morning, huh?

On the other hand, I always love the little lady in Woodhall who asks me to "Stay, and have some tea."
    She's so adorable.

    /always does.

On the road between Combe and Staddle I belive. Or maybe between Archet and Combe. He's by the stable (not the travel stable) on the side of the road. He refers to you by your class no matter what class you are.
Another version of this is a pair of gossiping hobbit ladies in Michel Delving who tell you things like "You'd be better off being a farmer" and such comments.

    This one?

"You are ill-equiped to travel into Moria"

    I recall the boastful ones:

"If Durin's Bane lives still, we will destroy it, and make of it a standard to terrify our foes!"

"I shall one day sell goblin heads as trophies!"

It's like some Dwarf NPCs will say "Is a Moment of your time too much to ask?" when I'm trying to help you, and they be rude an ask me that after i killed few of whatever for you, the dwarves should be happy that you helped lol

After nearly 9 years of hearing NPCs mangle Sindarin pronunciation, recite inane and repetitive phrases, and, as the OPC states, occasionally be outright rude I finally had enough. Recently I went to the Audio Options and set Voice-over Volume to 0.00 et voila no more annoying NPCs voices. NPC interactions are so much more pleasant now.

LOL I love it when they tell me that I'm ill equipped and I"m there at level 100 visiting. :P

I haven't heard the other two, though I wouldn't put it past them. Occasionally I get the exasperated "What do you want?!!" from the vault keeper.

The female Elf Huthoniel stands close to the mailbox at Echad Dunann.
She is a favorite. Love the intense voice acting. She's got a lot of raw Elf attitude.

    1. "Why do you trouble me!?"
    2. "Pray your need is worthy of my time!!!"
    3. "Speak quickly or leave me be!"
    4. "Do not trouble me if your need is not urgent!"

My character instinctively dropped to his knees the first time she
spoke reply #2. Since then, I never feel welcome nor worthy of her
"very precious" time. In fact, the way she says response #2 tends to
make me wonder if some lightning bolt is going to fall out of the sky
    and strike me dead.

This game has many cool aspects involving little details. The scripting
and voice acting for this NPC is a wonderful example of a Supplier & Provisioner
that feels a bit above her station in life.

If you click on her maybe 10 times, you will hear a number of variations
in how she says some of her responses. While the words are the same
the emotion varies quite a bit.

My favourite Moria line: "Greetings friend! Are you lost?"

And to that elfmaid always giving you a bored "what do you want?" my champ would always respond with "just a kiss!" xD

Well, think about it. You kind of are. You brought 200 potions and a huge stack of weapons and probably a huge pile of wood or hides or ingots; but you probably don't have a bedroll, a toothbrush, some toilet paper, any soap, or a change of underwear.
