Someone asked in world chat where to go for this weeks riddle. I thought it was obvious, but gave them "Isengard bids 5" as an answer (they knew where I meant).

Well yeah, one bit of the riddle threw me but the rest made sense. I understood what the riddle was talking about but I went to the wrong one, ie the real one, first lol.

It's only obvious if you've done a certain quest chain. If you haven't, you could be practically standing right next to the place and never know what it was.

I wasn't aware there were any good American movies. :-)

We may be going off point...

This riddle has me stumped this week. I thought maybe the auction house (block that doesn't block), but it's as far as my thinking took me. I have fond memories of Dunland but nothing immediately jumped out at me - probably need to spend more time there.

Of course, I'm here trying to cheat, and waiting impatiently for the wiki to be updated...so probably won't, either.

    **SPOILER**

And now the wiki is telling me the auction house in Avardin... I looked at the map and deselected everything but auction house and for some reason must have missed seeing the little brown gavel. So much for my attention to detail.

The 'Isengard bids five' hint above is a big clue.

All those that played the Andras quest line, should remember this place and what happened there. The third line refers to the loss that made it impossible for him to pay his debts.

    ***POSSIBLE SPOILERS***

I had played the "Isengard bids 5" quest line many times, but the riddle took me a while before I came to the right conclusion. The process went something like this. My thoughts in italic:

    - First, I had no idea what "audience", "block" or "coins" meant. I was trying to look for things on the maps that would be sufficient clues.
    - Audience... In graveyard the audience surely do all the performing! Also, there could be some nice treasures for Theodore to be excited about.
    - So I headed to Bonevales.
    - Hmm.. what about the other clues? Could it mean the tombstones... blocks of stone that apparently haven't kept the dead underground.
    - I searched the area while mining some Calenard and thinking of the other clues.
    - Coins ... can't be real coins if they disappear. Phantasm of a treasure? Have I played a quest or instance here that would've had that sort of things? Nah, must be a reference to something very witty.
    - Well, there are auction houses that deal with real coins, and you don't actually lose your money until you have won the bidding... and there is one I know of... but why would they send me back there, and why would the treasure hunters be there?
    - Oh! Now I understand the "audience" thing too! And it makes more sense than the graveyard nonsense!
    - Found the guys.
    - I still don't know how "block that doesn't block" has anything to do with auction houses... Perhaps it's a term in English I'm not familiar with.

    Spoiler:

Auction Block is a term that is tied to auctions. And that's what helped me. The coins reference I never understood.

    SPOILER here too

Which explains why I couldn't find an auction house there. It vaguely comes back to me now - I remember more vividly the quests from further west in the little village by the river (Lhan Tarren), which is where I first descended into Dunland. I do like the geography of this area a lot - not my fav, but some really nice terrain to range over.

Thanks for the video, brought it back quickly.

    SPOILER IN POST

Being an avid Dunland fan and having quested the area umpteen times, this one I found incredibly easy. I wasn't 100% positive it would be Avardin as we had just left there, but it's the first place I looked going on the clues.

Here's what made me go back to Avardin immediately: When I first went to talk to Bingo in Avardin, I saw two quest rings right next to each other on my mini-map but only Bingo standing there. I've seen this on the mini-map before when there's a phased quest NPC or item that isn't visible yet. Between that and a couple "hmm... that fits" parts in the riddle, I headed straight back to Avardin.

Yep that's why I went back there too! Plus with the clues it kind of made sense.

same here, and between the rings and having previously been 'outbid' by Saruman I knew exactly where to go.

    one question i have is---
Do we really have to bring Theodore along with us the rest of the way?
If he keeps whining like that I'm feeding him to the orcs

I will add though that one thing i like about the whole questline is the character transformation. Bingo has come a long way and actually seems to have 'grown a pair'
once he returns to the Shire maybe the next adventure he decides on can head to the northern regions. a little sightseeing in Carn Dum perhaps

    SPOILERS IN POST BEWARE

This wasn't too hard for me to find, cause when i read "In this place, the audience does the performing" the only place i thought of was the Auction or The Culling Pit both are in Avardin, and "The coins are real until they are followed; then they disappear." pushed it over the edge for to go back to Avardin, its the first thing came to mind, "A block blocks nothing." i didn't get this part tho.

It was the only clue I needed since my wife and I were talking about what had occurred there just as we arrived and picked up the riddle.

"Block" is what led me to "auction house" but I checked the one in Galtrev first and when it was wrong I thought I might be on the wrong track. I didn't see anything in the clues that seemed to point to a specific auction house. But after a moment it occurred to me that while there wasn't another gavel on the map in Dunland there was another auction house of sorts, a quite memorable one if you've gone through those quests, so I checked it out. (The double quest ring thing had been noticed but didn't click at this point.) I suppose the 'coins' clue is meant to point me not just to an auction house but that specific one, but I am still not sure how.

The coins are real until we follow them: then they disappear.

For me, I thought of the isengard bids five instance and the quest that followed it. We were sent off to follow the isengard shipment, where we found a few orcs in a small camp guarding a wagon hoard. We picked up the crates, and the quest ended.

Yeah, I went to the Culling Pit right after the auction house - and then obviously didn't look around there hard enough.

As frustrating as this was, I wouldn't change a thing. Nice little reward to those who have done the quest line (and remembered it). For those who don't remember, a nice reminder. Great to see the old content made relevant with new stuff.

My first idea was auction house but I went to the real one in Galtrev. My next thought was the culling pit so I was making my way there and just happened across the NPCs at the quest AH. Why that hadn't been my second idea I don't know as I've done that quest chain numerous times.

O M G. I would have never imagined we'd get to go in his lair for a bingo quest! So that's what made the big fellow angry in the first place, and the poor adventurers who come after have to take the blame XD this week's episode is great, and the rewards are quality items, the cub! so cute!

This week was brilliant. I'm quite sure I wasn't the only one who kept peeking through the gaps...

Did anyone run instead of walking near the beast? Was wondering if it mattered at all, but I still didn't dare not to hit INS.

edit: Oh, and Bingo has truly transformed. He took it all so calmly after all. I wonder if he'll get bored back in the peaceful Shire.

I tried on two chars, running or walking doesn't matter. However, if you stay down there after he awakes and don't run away with the npcs, he will notice you after a short moment and defeat you
