While I don't play on Gwaihir I'm very curious about the specific implications of this.

Does this mean you revoked the title from the first group to do it? Or you're opening it up for a second group to complete, meaning now 24 people will have the original challenger title on Gwaihir?

Opening it up for a second group. The first group will get to keep their title as it was a messy situation and not worth revoking their title.

The Eru Echor kinship attempted to do the full clear on Saturday but after a number of attemps on Gothmog T2C, the instance bugged and they were not able to progress because some door would not let them pass. That's why they submitted a ticked and asked a GM for help. The GM was not able to resolve the issue for them and he could not reset the boss properly, and even after they wiped on purpose, the door was still bugged. Reopening the instance would have probably resolved the issue but this was of course not an option for them as the aimed for the title. So they convinced the GM that they would have been able to beat the whole encounter in 20 minutes and that's why the GM granted them both the challenge deed and the challenge chest. You can see that the challenge chest was spawned by a Game Master because it's on a slightely different position than it should be. Note that the Eru Echor kinship did not beat Gothmog T2C before so it would have been their first kill.

So you see it's quite hard to tell whether they "deserve" the title or not. On the one hand it is quite likely that they would have been able to beat Gothmog in that night legitimately, on the other hand they were taken the possibilty to prove it because of the bug. That's probably why Turbine decided to reset the unique title for Gwaihir.

My personal opinion: both the Eru Echor and the Avorthalier kinship do deserve the title. It's a bit sad that the title is less unique now, but it's probably the best solution for everyone.

We spent two evenings trying and failing to get Gothmog T2C. (resetting when we could have made the T2) Without having beat it before there was no guarantee they would have done it - it is funny how performance can deteriorate when things start to go wrong.


GMs are a bizzare lot. When things bug out the response from GMs on Arkenstone has generally been 'File a bug report... Bye'

One GM refused to spawn a chest last night, after the game bugged out and we lost the challenge on a Boss 1 alt run (only 1 powder keg was picked up - it was a standard run).

That is nothing short of ridiculous and Ecu Echor should be stripped of their title immediately.

I would suggest halting the "Original Challenger" title right now entirely since there are at least two huge exploits where people can basically 6-man Mumaks T2C and bypass gauntlet's mechanic before Boss 3.
These things really need to be fixed ASAP. I'm also starting to suspect there is some exploit in the Unbroken One fight, but have no actual proof yet.
