If a Malledhrim Soldier dies alone in the forest because of canceled quest, will it make a sound? ~Leixy
Took me a few years, but I renewed my signature :)
Honestly, it did seam like it was a SSG anniversary and not LOTRO.
Devs, CMs and all the other staff paraded there and in the last 2 hours maybe there was some player involvment.
And that after Gollum was shaking his ### on the live stream for 4 hours maybe and still they didn't prepare for a 10y anniversary and a 12h stream like it's year 1, not 10.
It was nice to put some faces and names together, so we know who to think of when something goes wrong... VOLTROOON!!!
I do not care about a few LP (even though it would have been a nice gesture), I have the ghost bear and probably the mount too... But people celebrating with you even for a short while should have gotten something, not just a fun monster spawn.
No idea what this was, but instead of whining, you should thank them that they did something fun in-game.

Thanks for the feedback about the stream, all, appreciate it.
Just to clarify, it was Cordovan & QuarterMasterU, not Pinion (although he was on the stream, he wasn't there for the in-game stuff.)
I thought we'd have a LOT more time to do in-game stuff than ended up happening, but the 12 hours zoomed by pretty quickly to me, and I thought it went well overall. Such a big undertaking is going to have its good parts and less good parts, and I agree it was a bummer trying to give out codes on YouTube. Perhaps the "solution" should have been to not do it, but that didn't seem right at the time. I need to research a better way to do giveaways on YouTube, which doesn't have the ease of quick on-page private messaging that Twitch does. Same with Facebook Live, too.
It would also have been nice to have had more in-game time, but after Midnight hit, we were both wiped. I did my best to spend time on every U.S. server, and will be visiting the European servers on Friday. After it became clear that we weren't headed in-game until late into the show, it made sense to kick the EU servers to a more EU-friendly time and get as many of the rest in as we could before we crashed, so I'm tentatively targeting early-mid afternoon on Friday for a swing through the EU worlds.
I also will be doing some forum giveaways here, probably later this week, so people who couldn't join us live or in-game can get the same not-great-but-possible odds of acquiring something cool. Stay tuned.
I watched several hours of the stream, you guys did what you could. Appealing to the masses is often difficult as the small minority of disgruntled participants are often the most vocal. Combine that with a healthy sense of entitlement and your job becomes challenging and at times overwhelming. 1st world problems though.
Overall I though you did a great job.

I completely understand how the OP feels, I got to the location on our server about 2 seconds after it was over. However, lets keep things in perspective. LOTRO and Cordovan didn't have to do anything like what they did. They tried to provide a fun perk to mark the 10th anniversary, and many people did get to enjoy it. There's only so much they can do at one time, so I don't begrudge them for not being able to have an event for everyone on every server. The real point is that it was something cool, and some of us are sad we missed out on it. To me that's a good sign. If it wasn't cool, then nobody would be upset about missing it. Instead of focusing on the negative, I think it would be better to focus on the positive. Events like this are cool, and we like them. What I think would be nice is if players could pay to have their own similar events where bosses are spawned on the landscape for players to kill. I don't even really care how it's done exactly, or what the restrictions are. Hopefully it wouldn't even require a SSG employee to be there, players could just pay and do it on their own.

The challenge with in-game meetups is I/we love doing them, and people like being there, but if I let people know where I am going to be then when the time comes to go there it's just a slide-show if not an instance crash, and no one gets to be there. So far the "trick" I've found is to go to a random place, people will see where I am, and then folks will get into the area until the place bogs down to the ground, at which point I can teleport somewhere else and the process begins again.
It means it's a bit of a lottery, but it also means people can actually take part rather than it not really working at all. I've tried numerous options over the years, and this has worked out the best. That's why I also make sure to do additional layers of giveaways on social media and the forums.
Paying to host a similar event where bosses are spawned on the landscape for players to kill? Brought about because someone would be willing to pay for the event?
Sounds like you are approaching open world pvp. If they wont allow open world pvp,I surely hope they don't endow a player to do it as you suggested.
Live events should only be hosted by the game's employees or their designate it pertains to.
Oh, for #### sake... At least read the message and try to understand it before you go on your post hunt or just ####. Just have to disagree with everything everyone says...
I didn't get anything from this nor was I asking for it, the bear I got from the charity Cord was doing. But for 10 years I was hoping for something a bit more flashy in any way. 10 years is a big milestone and although I love hearing from devs we've been hearing or reading from them on various sites, streams, podcasts, etc. several times. 10 year anniversary comes once in... wait for it... 10 years.
I don't feel it oozes entitlement if I want LOTRO to be better and richer experience for everyone. Including your selfrighteous post hunting self.
Me too, I just said that was the only fun part in the game for few minutes. We should have been celebrating LOTRO, not SSG and Twitch. Honestly, I did like some of those interviews, especially some that touched the game more. Don't know if we had to have 101 programming or what was it but quests, ideas, wishes, predictions, reflections about the game... Having Sev near the end was one of the best parts of the day. It's nice to have some fillers about how people started working, how they feel about it, but people had so many questions about the game that were neglected for ''so, what is a mesh", "how did you choose your name" (even though i liked the voltron story) and the guys repeating 3 times which 2 three-mans he made, etc.
can I get that as an ingame title?
would fit in my collection, directly aside of "empathyless asocial", which I was awarded for telling people that spammed /world each 5min for 5 hours for the announcement of a funeral march that they might reduce the spam a bit and have less discussions about it then. seemed to be really necessary to write the announcement each 5min, wasnt possible to do it once each 15-20min, where much less people had been annoyed of it (as shown a weak later, where again someone died and no one discussed with bad behaviour as the funeral was just announced like 3 times).
Always funny to get attacked for being active in the forums :P happens alot these days.

I thought it worked really well (and wasn't the kind of lag party it would have been in Bree if the event had been held there) and I had no problems finding you guys just by watching the stream As soon as you appeared somewhere I recognized the spot Also, I didn't notice any lag, even with several balrogs about, and you did stay quite some time. Though it might be hard for those with no swift travel to get to some far away places in time if they can't port there, but showing up in different places helped with that
A big thank you to everyone who worked on making this event the fun anniversary party it was!

Yes, the 10th anniversary isn't really about the devs, or twitch. It's about the "game", about LOTRO itself. It isn't about the vets either, or at least, shouldn't be.
Honestly, I think it's a great thing that they decided to pop into the game for a bit, and mingled with the mortals. Just have some fun with it.
Sometimes, no matter how hard you look, there is no best light.
11:45 must have been Gladden -- and yes, they were in Angmar. +Cordovan appeared in the Dwarven Camp in Angmar - Myrkworth. It said so right on the Radar in the corner of the screen. Of course, if you, the player, had never been there, it would not have been obvious -- and unless you already had the nearby Stable-master, and knew how to get there over-land you would not have been able to get there, even if you knew where it was!
If you had done the quests in Angmar, it would have been quite obvious as Myrkworth is a quest hub.

+1... I really wish the rep system still existed in the forums, but then again, that vocal forum minority typically had reached the post-count gate needed in order to hand out negative rep, so casual posters who pushed back typically got beaten up for it in the form of negative rep (as well as verbally abused).
Anyway, agree 100%.

Thanks for the stream and coming out and everything -- it means a lot that first of all SSG does care enough about this game and its players to even take over and split off of Turbine to begin with, but even after that to take the limited resources and be able to pull something together like this. The whole anniversary is really awesome -- as someone that's been here since beta (not as long as a lot of people around, but still a bit) - seeing all of this and getting the answers and feedback and participation we do from you guys is really appreciated.
Keep up the good work, congrats on the ten years - looking forward to some more.
