Despite the fact that Tolkien doesn't mention them during the coronation and they don't participate, I agree that they probably would have been there. They were left out in our version since they'd be returning in a short time with gifts from their respective homelands (a change from RotK, where they remain in the city), but if it bothers you I can probably add them in without too much bother.

If you're going to add people to that scene, can the Grey Company be added in too? It's the culmination of their story! Thanks

Adding two guys is one thing; twenty is maybe another, and the scene already suffers a pretty big performance hit from the number of characters present. Imagine them in the crowd.

sorry not trying to add to your workload or asking for a change. just a spur of the moment nit-pick. 2nd time through this quest and thought I just missed seeing them the first time. So when I ran around the entire scene and saw alot of xtra Gondor soldiers and they still weren't there I just thought they were left out by mistake.

I see the point, but could you not change the skins of some of the background models to be Grey Company? They probably mean more to most players than nameless Gondorian soldiers/townspeople - if you're making any changes, that is

Welcome to the cascading world of game development! Looks like a quick and easy change, right? Well, those guys aren't individual units under-the-hood; they all come as a group, affectionately called 'war walls' when they were used during the various battles throughout Gondor. They received new art and animations that lets them respectfully watch the coronation without raising a ruckus. But they're not individually able to change, which means getting time from an artist to replace the Gondorian soldier war-walls with a Grey Company version. And it's probably not enough to use a generic Grey Company guy (because with the record-keeping that you and others do you'd expect the numbers to line up, and for at least some of the unique Grey Company appearances to appear... but not more than they should).

It's solvable -- I think every game design problem has a solution. But solving this one would take at least two and probably three people away from the things they're already working on for longer than they'd want. Feels like a stretch goal to handle during one of our free sprints.

Fair enough - I don't want to keep you from expanding the story further - I'm looking forward to seeing the stories that were started in the allegiance system continue to develop, particularly with regards to the literally earth-shaking event in the Dwarfish one!

(Cheeky request, could Radanir or Daervunn be there as a representative when you add Legolas and Gimli? No problem if not!)

By the way, probably not the right place to mention it, but can we have a reflecting pool for Mordor and the Wastes? There's currently nowhere that I've found to replay the really cool instances in both zones.

I want one, but I'm holding out for suitably-distinctive art to represent it before we set it down.

I take it the old Corrupted Pools used to enter Creep Side weren't distinctive enough?

We might end up using those as a base, but I'd prefer something new -- I think the implication of using those as-is would be that you'd be entering PvMP instances, rather than replaying instances from the PvE side.

with the update 21.2 and 21.3 one of things in mordor which is tedious is that we have 30 deeds on 1 tab it would be nice to have Gorgoroth deed log be divided into Udun,Dor Amarth, lhingris, talath erui and agarnaith might be easier than adding 20-25 individual npcs
but yes it would be better to see the Grey Company at Aragorn's coronation he is their chief as a teacher or a tutor at someone graduation, wedding or something ceremonial for the Grey Company came to help him for that moment all the deaths from vol 3 bk 1-4 and the battle of pelennor field,Battle of the morannon. The rangers death was only to help Aragorn achieve his destiny and his kingship to have them there at the time of coronation is like the true ending of the Grey Company and the oaths of the rangers.
