A number of questions about the Beorning

so i've recently hit level cap with Beorning and started gear him up for end game (build for healing).

I feel that i dont quite understand a couple things about the class. i have asked in world chat with little succes, so i figured i'd post it here.

    Healing:

Mark of grimbeorn interactions - 1. in the natures mend trait tooltip it says it has more potency on the marked target. i have tested this and i could not tell any difference. is this a bug or wrong tooltip? or am i missing something?
    2. hearten is supposed to heal for more on the marked target. i found that it only increases the initial heal (which is rather meaningless) and not the HoT. whats up with that?

Ferocious roar - This will make the wrath cost of your next heal 0 as it says decrease wrath cost by 100%. however this does not seem to work when i switch to bear form to start healing. this makes no sense to me as in man for there is only 2 heals. 1 that doesnt have a wrath cost but actually adds wrath. and the other (hearten) is already free on wrath when you use it on the marked target. so the only time that has value is if you cast hearten on a non marked target? that seems really odd and quite pointless imo.

nature's bond - cant quite figure out what the best moment is to use this skill. when a target is dropping low its scary to use cause it takes more time before actual heals come out. when they arent low it feels like a waste. any tips on how to use it?

Bear up - so there is a big with this were it sometimes wont let you in combat rez. any way to avoid triggering this bug or is it totally random?

    Damage:

Execute: this skill seems really bad as it drains all wrath and basically forces you out of bear form. is it good to just completely avoid this skill, the traits that interact with it and the LI legacy for execute damage?

Turn the tides - is this ever worth? how common are corruptions in end game mobs?

    General:

some tips on optimal rotation are always welcome

ty all for reading and looking forward to your responses

Wasn't even aware the tooltip said this; I don't believe Natures Mend gets improved at all by the marked target.

It applies a different HoT ("Hearten" vs "Hearten - Grimbeorn's Strength") - but functionally I've never noticed a difference. They will have the same healing values.

Ferocious roar does not work right now.

90% of the time, I don't even trait for it (nor for Bear Up, for that matter). Hypothetically the best time to use it is when you can't be within 20 meters of the target you're healing (40 meter range on the skill).

I've heard it has something to do with making sure your target isn't targetting any mobs.

Use Execute when you get the 'Moment of Opportunity' buff that allows your next execute to consume no wrath and require no health threshold. You could ignore Execute entirely and not notice too bad a drop in damage (your only damaging skill in a sustained fight is Bash anyway).

Not common enough. The trait only increases the damage of the corruption removal part, not the base damage of the skill. Trait it if you want, but it doesn't hurt you much if you don't.

For red bear: Focus on keeping as many bash bleeds up on a target as you can for highest dps. Vicious Claws resets the duration of your latest bleed, so always use that BEFORE applying your next Bash. Nothing else in red matters.

For yellow bear: Bond of trust does a surprising amount of healing. Focus on keeping wrath maxed out in man form when no one is in dire need of heals, swap to bear form for emergencies. Always keep a stack wrath-regen potions handy. The yellow bear Bees debuff is very nice right now for buffing non-tactical damage classes (hunters without oils, burglars, champions, etc), so make sure you keep that debuff up at all times. Trait down into blue for upgraded Armor Crush to get a second +15% incoming damage debuff to put on enemies.

For blue bear: Unimbued swap for Thickened Hide duration; stack vitality; trait deep into red for Composure; and pray the Beorning class balance updates are soon. The redline Lumber trait (bear form rush gives next skill a knockdown) works for Thunderous Roar.

Thank you so much for the clear reply laughatdo0m!

Its a shame that beorning is in an awkward spot and on top of that some key abilities are bugged. i did not even know there were wrath potions! thats a massive help. ty very much for that.

i will keep all this in mind when learning to heal as beorning

P.S. any tips for essence and gear build? im maxing out crit and outgoing healing atm. someone told me to max mit but my tact mit is very far of maxing. (wearing gorgoroth ash gear atm with northern kingdoms essence)

Yeah, Bear definitely isn't in the strongest spot right now, but healing bear is definitely viable.

If you can get it, the Abyss raid yellow 4-set bonus is very nice (its the only set bonus that really adds some depth to Beorning). Trying to max your outgoing healing won't really achieve too much difference. Better to cap the crit and at the very least get close to capping your mitigations. It is definitely hard for medium armor classes to cap tactical mitigation without going out of their way on jewelry/essences, so one alternative would be to just have a second pocket+necklace with 4 tact mit essences that you could swap into for instances/fights where you'd need it.

Also keep in mind this advice is only good for whats live now. Level cap 120 hits soon and presumably the Beorning class changes either before or after that; which will both change everything.
