Is Legacy Bundle a good deal?

    Hi fellows from Middle Earth,

As you know, today LOTRO releases the Legacy Bundle. I am currently not VIP and don't have 8 regions (most of them are regions from Gondor and beyond). However, I have all expansions. I am also an occasional player.

From your opinion, is the bundle a good deal for an occasional player like me?

I appreciate all opinions from Free People in Middle Earth.

    Thank you and Happy Holiday.

    Hello

If you can afford it is indeed a nice offer!

1 year of VIP + all quest packs + gifts for something like 23000 LotRO Points (worth 199$)

    It's your choice .

If you already have the expansions than that's going to take alot of the 'good deal' away from the it. Also as an occasional player you'd have to look at how much playing would make it worth it. If you only play once or twice a month you won't get to alot of the content. I know when I have a sub running I play every day to get my monies worth out of it. When I'm just in my Premium status I might not touch the game for a month or two at a time.

The deal sounds like it would really be good for someone with lower level (pre-Moria) characters that will play enough each month to get through all the content.

Since you already own quite some of the more expensive content like QP and expansions, imho that depends on what you like to do in-game and what you already planned to do and buy from now on.

Some of the later regions (Far Anorien and Where Dragons dwell) are about 1995 LP. Most QPs in Gondor are 795 LP when not on sale.

Do you like housing and especially Premium housing and decorating and/or working from your home? Or do you plan to buy a Premium kinship house for your kinship? Do you want to put down those housing items at any house?

Do you want to upkeep a Premium house once VIp is gone?

Do you use larger amounts of MC for other things? 250 MC and those 20 writs are nice but you can't mix them so far for buying a house. And writs are bound as far as I know.

One year of sub gives quite some LP you can spend on other things. Besides the perks mentioned that one month of sub would also grant you.

Taking your own playtime in account was already mentioned from others.

Sum up what you would buy and pay without this pack and then make a decision. At least that is what I would do.

Yeah, you already have the expansions and being an occasional player. You could just get the other content by buying some LP. Some of that stuff seems to be for the LI system and traiting a single character - Maybe for more serious player. The housing stuff may be cool, but I don't know.

I don't know what the "Wallet" is supposed to be. is that supposed to say "Premium Wallet" I wonder.

Wallet means Premium Wallet - at least that is what is mentioned in the German translation of the Market page.

That really depends on what kind of player you are. I can see this bundle being potentialy popular with returning non-lifer players, those who like housing and were so far hesitant to buy either Premium house or crafting stations plus those who would buy 12-month VIP and LP anyway.

Maybe some newish but already hooked players also - the question of "what should I buy to have 100% access" has been popular in the forums as of late.

If you're an occasional player who already owns parts of the bundle, it's simply a matter of calculating the costs and pondering if you'll actually use some of the items provided. Or is it better to buy LP during double days.

Players can compare the offer to this thread: https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthr...Build-Your-Own

This bundle is overkill for me because I've bought all the quest packs (and expansions) over the years and have unlocked items such as the wallet and the riding skill for all my characters and went VIP for a while which unlocked VIP perks that I kept when I went premium.

What happens once the one year VIP expires? Is access to all the content then lost?

How does this deal make sense on the LS, when Moria will not be released until at least 4 months after the LS started? Much of the content will not be accessible after 1 year if subsequent cap increases take many months to arrive.

I feel that, as has been the case for a long time now, many players are given a puzzle, a dilemma of sorts. For some players this is a no-brainer: it seems like a nice offer but it may require them to continue to stay VIP. For lifers and many premium players this deal makes no sense.

To players in between it will vary. They may have invested in part of the offer already, and will parse out whether the rest is worth the $199.

What I am curious about is: what are SSG's plans for the near future with regard to premium players? Will it eventually become less desirable to play the game as a premium player? Will there be a stronger push to VIP?

Between Legendary servers and new items like this bundle, this is something I've been pondering as well. I own pretty much all the content(give or take a skirm or two), paid cash for all expansions, bought LPs, went VIP occasionally. Have reasons not to spend money anymore. Should we indeed be moving towards subscription-only model again, where would it leave Premium players?

That is the question. And one that will keep me from investing much more money in this game. I refuse to keep paying repeatedly for things I already paid for.

This. You will have to calculate. Legacy bundle is a very good deal for new players. It is useless for veterans. And those in-between will have to do the math.

This is an amazing deal.. I haven't calculated the individual costs, but when I think of what the expansion packs cost and the cost of the mithril coins and mounts and premium wallets, etc, etc, etc.
Anyone who decides to get this pack is saving hundreds of dollars...

This is the best deal to come along since the Lifetime account deal. With a lifetime account, I still had to buy all of the expansions and the points to get all of the other perks that are included..

Kudos SSG. With the success of the legendary servers and this deal.. Wow.

    My opinion:

It IS a good deal if you are a new player that has not bought any expansions yet, and is playing characters currently below 50 on any server (legendary or regular live).

It MAY be a good deal if you don't want to pay for VIP after the year is up, as all quest packs will be retained and you can continue to level up to 120 without paying for any content.

It IS NOT a good deal, if you already own all expansions and plan to be VIP either way. You would be better off buying VIP for 1 year for $99, and then spending $99 in Lotro Points, purchase all the extra goodies.... or just get the specific goodies you find useful, and still have a buckload of LP left!

As I already own all expansions, and some of them have been pre-order, so all my characters already get a buckload of pre-order stuff, including 2 Crystals of Remembrance on each toon (bound of course), it doesn't seem worth it to me. I'll wait and see if a year sub to VIP ever goes on a good sale!

And the superior field for the farmer if the German Translation is correct. The English Version says ALL House Crafting items, the German and the French Translation each list all five of them.

We are on the same page. When legendary servers are released with newer hardware, the fate of original servers and F2P/premium players may be at stake.

I hope that "One Paying Model Will Rule Them All" may not happen. With all purchased current expansions, I only like to go VIP when I have much free time to enjoy the game.

The most important consideration for me was the following:

*Access to all quest packs, including expansions
*VIP: access to all quest packs, excluding expansions

These two things offer the same for me, as I already have all expansion packs with the exception of Mordor. It's not double value, it's double billing: paying for content you don't need.
ON top of that, I can't justify spending 200$ in a MMO that I played less than 100 hours in 2017.

I'll settle with just VIP and temporary content for a month or two

On a different note: if I was a new player, knowing this game would be for me for many years to come, I'd spend it. Heh, then I probably was a life-timer too.
