Your shared storage items should still transfer and your vault space will go over capacity. That means you will be able to withdraw stuff, but not add anything further until you are back at normal capacity. The same should apply to wardrobe.

Thank you! Hopefully they'll let me experience that first hand. Still kicking myself over being impatient in leaving Ithil. I did it on 2 accounts, too!

Can confirm...my wardrobe is now in terminal overflow, had 110 slots and now +60-70 over that. I can still use the items from wardrobe and dye the items in there but will be unable to add new stuff. You can leave the wardrobe as is.
Also shared, as Arnenna says, it just tops up above your regular max.

I had already rolled and played more on Anor so never considered leaving Ithil with these few. They're largely unplayed though, perhaps a day or so/played on each alt.

I'm no longer vip as I rarely have more than a day free from work and would love to move off Anor. Those characters I did play a lot.
I'd have to fight myself for the anmes though, they're more or less the same.

Just let us transfer from anor to normal servers. People who still want to play will keep playing on legendary servers

I can understand the notion of some folks wanting to transfer off Anor to a regular server because we know it's possible from a technical standpoint. I can also understand why it's not allowed from a policy standpoint. I'm not sure which option I prefer, although I think my concern would be for just how many people would take the opportunity to leave Anor and how that would affect future viability or longevity of that server.

Of the rest of this, there are only two things that annoy me about it. One is simply that I prefer the name Ithil to Anor (more a moon fan than a sun fan). The other is more serious. If you're a kin leader who had spent MC or writs to buy a nice Belfalas kinhouse, you are required to sell your kinhouse before transferring - and you don't get enough writs to buy a new one. For this particular situation, because it's at SSG's behest and we don't get a choice here, they should grant us precisely the correct number of writs to purchase the same kinhouse on Anor. The bottom line is that no kin leader should have to pay again for the remaining writs needed to buy the same house if we're being forced to move.

SSG owes me 10 writs. I refuse to buy them, even on sale, because this was not my decision or choice to move.

I liked Ithil as a name better too. But not being allowed from a policy standpoint makes no sense since you can transfer from Ithil to non-Leggo servers. If they were truly concerned about making Anor more viable it would be an Ithil>Anor transfer only. That, or converting Anor to a regular server at this point.

For me, I believed that it would only ever be Ithil>Anor and I accepted that even though I would rather have gone to a non-leggo server with the characters I've grown attached to on Ithil/Anor. I wouldn't be upset at all if the Ithil closure had been to t/f to Anor only.

I'm with you on the writs thing, I felt like that is really unfair on the housing thing.

I wouldn't have been upset either if it was strictly Ithil->Anor either, tbh. However, as of this exact moment, something I'd posted earlier based on the info I had at the time is currently incorrect. Right now (until/unless they change it), folks have been able to transfer from Ithil and NOT be forced to take the -1 or -2, as long as that name is idle more than a year on the server you're going to. I picked up my primary name on 4 of the 5 EU servers, and my secondary name on the 4 EU servers I didn't already have it on. Just transfer, recreate, transfer, etc. I cannot vouch for this working for transfers from any other server cos I ain't paying 2495 LP to find out, but for now, the old consolidation-era tech seems to be working. I suspect Cord's gonna want some aspirin after all of this.

Not really correct. The players enjoying Anor, would stay, and the people that no longer play there would leave = no loss as they don't play on it anyway. Just because SSG are forcing players to remain on Anor, doesn't mean they will play on it.

The risk of this treating some paying subbed customers differently to others is that they drop their sub (and nobody could blame them for doing so as this is just wrong on all sorts of levels), so there are more potential losses from that. They shouldn't treat paying customers differently, just because they wish to keep a server population up. If they really wanted to keep Anor's numbers up they would have made Ithil players transfer to Anor, but they didn't, and as some have already transferred off Ithil to Live worlds, it's too late to turn tail on that now.

I'd really like to see a blue name response to this in here, stating exactly what the justification is for allowing some paying customers to transfer off a legendary world, while denying that to others. I've already written to Customer Services, and I will await their response, but it would be good for a blue name to at least try and explain this treatment of players in here.

Agreed, SSG needs to make a statement on their intentions for Anor server NOW.

    Close at 105?
Keep progressing slowly to level cap?
Open transfers from live TO Anor making a permanent VIP only server?

    We need to know

I have several premium houses on Ithil. Are we going to get the full refund for being forced to abandon them due to this closure?

With the accounts resetting followed by this Ithil transfer onto any other world it's looking like a beta test for dormant servers.

You'd have hoped for some headway on naming conflicts. What are the potential grieving problems still in play? Can our active mains elsewhere have a +1 added? With the small dataset Ithil entails any small problem now has the potential of a tsunami with the dormant dataset if wholly embraced. /wave support...

Once the test is complete they can judge if it's too problematical to allow the same opportunity for those who were urged to move to Arnor. A second beta test if you were... perhaps not if it's just left to how much support have to work through if systems aren't resolving the issues?

I kind of have a basic question:

How/where do you start the transfer process??

Launcher has a button to press after you log on and before you choose the server to enter. If you have bypassed this with arguments they need to be removed, ignore this last bit if you don't understand it.

On the point of names - I believe that transferred characters do keep their names if the existing character with the name has been inactive.

So if you want a name on *any* server create a character on ithil with that name and transfer it - for free. At level 1 without even logging in.

If it arrives on the destination server with a -1 just delete it. If it gets the name and the inactive character now has the -1 the name is yours and you may be able to delete the transferred character and rename an existing character with that name if you want to pay a bit for the privilege.

I do NOT guarantee that the rename will work I haven't tried it and don't intend to.

You will get an "overflow". In other words, if you have 80 shared storage slots and it is completely full, and you transfer shared storage from a server with e.g. 40 completely different things in it, you will have 120 items in your shared storage. However, since your paid-for storage is only 80, you can only take things OUT until you reach 79. You will have to re-organize anyways, because items that stack won't auto-stack when transferred, so you might end up with 2 stacks of the same thing in your storage, and you would have to "restack" them by taking one out and putting it back in shared storage. (Stackable items should still be able to be put in while in overflow)

Wardrobe works similarly, only it will not copy doubles. I believe in this case, the existing item "wins". If I recall correctly, it will merge dye colors if there are differences on the same item on different servers, but I am not 100% sure of that. If not, it is likely the item on the target server "wins".

You do need to have enough character slots available on your destination server.

We will have to have further conversations about transferring from Anor. As people have pointed out, the reasoning for its exclusion at the start is becoming less relevant over time.

It is definitely unfair to Ithil people that transfered to Anor to be stuck on Anor when what they really wanted was to move to live servers.

Alternative option? Establish Anor server as a true VIP only server. Allow VIP transfers from Live to Anor at the same time raising Anor up to lvl 130 cap.

Anor has a wonderful experience as compared to most free 2 play servers, world chat is far less trollish, more serene, and less gold farmers.
    Anor will not be closing.

Not anymore. This used to work during the first server merges in 2015, but it was confirmed that when they had to re-write the transfer system due to a change in database software in 2019, this functionality was either not put back in, or it broke, and they never fixed it.

So in short: Even if a character has been idle for 10 years, the incoming Ithil character WILL lose its name.

You can probably test that if you know of a character with a long idle name (more than a year, as that was the time frame used in 2015), see if you can create that character on ithil (if possible) and then transfer the character.

Unless they recently fixed that, I am pretty sure LOTS of name losses will be happening. I do not know if customer support will help you get the name.

Maartena - what you say has been true but I am not sure it is true right now for transfers from Ithil. I have seen reports that transferred characters got names that were unavailable on the destination server when new characters were created.

Please do have these conversations, and in a timely manner. There is no reason to restrict players from transferring off the server. Those that enjoy playing it will keep on playing it, and those that do not, don't play it anyway. If the onus is on keeping it's population up, restricting players that no longer play there isn't going to do that, and allowing Ithil players to only transfer to Anor would have. I can only assume that it is not that reason, given that you are allowing Ithil players to transfer elsewhere.

Any paying customer on Anor, should be afforded the same as paying customers on Ithil, or any other server for that matter, unless there is a technical reason why it cannot be done (for example, US to EU transfer or vice versa), which should in that case be stated and explained.

Once you enter your user name and password into the game launcher, you will see a button for Transfer.

I notice you skipped my question entirely.

Can we get a full refund for our writs?

For anyone who feels unhappy on Anor,
If it's an option to transfer from Anor to Ithil before it closes, one could use that as a way to transfer from Anor to live

It's not an option. They closed transfers to Ithil before posting the Server closure announcement.

Those should transfer perfectly fine, since they're not tied to your kinship. The only ones that had to be abandoned were kinhouses, and for the premium ones bought with MC or writs, you do not get a full refund - the Tol Falthui island costs 36 housing writs, and when I abandoned mine to transfer my kinship to Anor intact, I only got 26 writs in refund. And no, it ain't fair. Kin leaders should not have to pay twice to continue to enjoy a kinhouse that their kin may have been using for the past few years.

Points more towards the code to filter names on creation has had more resent changes and that there are limitations between a programming language and database queries; C++ and SQL for instance. Easy to program but hard to formulate a query to include the exact same functionality. I doubt they've had a SQL expert on the books so much if that's what they use in the transfer process.
