    Grats Sam!

1000 posts...have you been waiting so that you could be #1000? ...great timing...
Just remembering all those years ago when this got started with One-Word Tolkien Trivia ...it's been quite a ride.

Thanks for saving me the trouble of posting hints.

You have once again earned the Jacket!

    Thank you!

As a matter of fact, I posted my guess before I realized the number and edited the post afterwards. Lucky chance, I guess

Here’s another double jeopardy. This time, the answer should be a name and a title.

No flaming sword in my sun-colored hand
No armies flocking to heed my command
No massive garden on yon war-scarred plain
I’ll refuse the title, eschew the name

For I know in my heart, if I claimed the power
Relentlessly sought by the lord in that tower
His gaze would clean pierce me, I’d shrink and I’d cower

So I’ll see this thing through though the journey is long
With just a small garden and in my heart a song
    For I the stout-hearted,________ the _________

Above all shadows rides the Sun and Stars for ever dwell:
I will not say the Day is done, nor bid the Stars farewell.

It’s difficult to come up with a good “question”, let alone making it rhyme. Here we go…

    Dark as night
    A massive size
    Golden ring
    With blood-red eyes

Probably going with the seemingly easiest response but,
"What is the Eye of Sauron"?

    ...when in doubt...twirl...

    First; great riddle.

Second; just because we have been playing a game of "rhymes" for a while doesn't mean that it is required. You can post the "answer" in any form you choose.

Third; Who is Telvido? Proto-Sauron, feline servant of Morgoth, with blood-red eyes, he was huge, with a black-as-night coat, and he wore a golden collar that was taken from him by Huan, hound of Valinor.

Ok here's a new one: providing a regular old statement instead of a rhyme.

He is known to have completed an astounding "one-shot" while traveling with The Fellowship.

    Who is Legolas?

'Praised be the bow of Galadriel, and the hand and eye of Legolas! ' said Gimli, as he munched a wafer of lembas. 'That was a mighty shot in the dark, my friend!' -The Fellowship of the Ring, Book II, Chapter IX, The Great River.

    Pointing north, a sharp foaming prow;
A grey ship unmoved by many a year.
Taken and taken, held by men uncowed,
Called faint-hearted, wavering in the rear.

    Hmmm...In a way, I hope that I don't have this right.
I win too often. But I do like helping others decipher our puzzles.
    Maybe this will help someone.

Well consider your wish fulfilled, you haven't quite got it. But you are certainly on the right track, in more ways than one.
And I see where you're coming from - a spirit of competition is all fine and good, but only when there are enough folks participating.

Ah yes...it resulted in a hint.
I have another guess, but I will hold it in reserve, mainly because I don't think it's right.
It has the same issues that exist with my first guess; It fits the first two lines, but not the second two.
    Very tricksy.

    What is Cair Andros?
Well, I suppose you could always say "flame resistant sunglasses" if you prefer that to "shoes"

My apologies, I neglected to check the forums yesterday.
Cair Andros is indeed the answer - Itharas, you are our Jacket-bearer again!

Boraxxe, I thought the last two lines were the better clues
    1. Captured and recaptured 2. By the faint-hearted

Now that I know the answer, yes, those 2 lines nailed it down...good riddle.
That is mainly why I consider it a good riddle...
I thought, after a quick skim, that I knew where you were hinting at and then promptly turned off my brain.
If I had taken time to actually consider the whole I may have seen it.
    A few seemingly disjointed bits.
But when you focus on the entirety then the picture blossoms.
I was too impatient to absorb and consider.
    Thank you.

Sorry for the delay. Unfortunately, something's come up and I probably won't be able to check the forums/post for some time, so I'll just leave the jacket here for whoever wants it.

    What is Anorien?

I never realized that the Druadan Forest stretched for 40 miles.

Which sounds like it could be named after Anárion, son of Elendil.
