Price Change: Scrolls of Empowerment from Store

I noticed today while looking at scrolls that the cost was 295TP. I purchased one.

I went back later looking at other options and the price had changed to 395TP.

So either the price was changed mid-stream literally as I was looking at it, OR, you have it rigged so that the first purchase is 295 and any subsequent is 395.

    What gives?

These were always meant to be priced at 395 TP, but there was a pricing error. When we caught it we updated the price.

So consider yourself lucky on that first purchase.

Funny, they made it all the way thru Beta at 295...
Didn't know we were s'posed to /bug it.

    Pretty ripe for conspiracy, eh?

And everyone else consider yourself price gouged.

No matter what you say, if this was a mistake or not, I hope you know understand how bad this reflects on Turbine. No one actually believes this was a mistake. It was 295 through the month of beta testing (and I'm sure you were tracking purchases.) And it was 295 on launch. Most of us assumed when it went to 395 it was because you saw more sales and decided an extra 100TP could make you a lot more money. It's the little things like this that are handled poorly that make me lose faith in Turbine.

Same thing happened with the launch of f2p, remember? They jacked the price up on a slew of things once that update went live. Eh just wait for a sale, it's bound to come.

Disappointing response on what was clearly changed AFTER the patch went live based on sales presumably. The price was 295TP through Beta.

I actually find this pretty funny myself. Auction house prices for those scrolls on Silverlode shot up 40-50% after release. I said to a friend "I bet that's driving lots of business to the store". Amazing coincidence that prices in the store happened to go up 100TP right when that initial flood of business arrived...

These were 295 on BR every build. I can't be the only one that bought a couple dozen with our funny money free TP either, so there had to be plenty of recorded sales at 295TP. No one noticed for a month, not until the code when live?

My thought as well. Even if it's not true though it's easily perceived as such and makes a terrible impression.

Someone really is dumb with store. People bought lots of empowerment scrolls for their new weapons so you all bump the price up with a stealth increase, LOL

Consider yourselves lucky that I spent (5k) TP yesterday mainly on empowerment scrolls because you will not see me spending points again unless you are just giving something away

Sighs. If this is a glitch, than I don't see how it made it all the way through the BETA test, since most of the player base (and I am sure the developers) know how much demand there would be for these items. I personally was going to buy a fiar number but now that they increased the price 33% due to a "pricing error" I will be holding off at least until they go back to the 295 price.

Actually the strategy is not all that bright at all...at lower prices I would consider buying some but now, nope.... granted my diddly little pittance is nothing in the grand old scheme of making money but that little pittance is never-the-less NOT going in to their pockets whereas it might have before.

I shall either grind away to get those scrolls or simply deal with legendaries with (THANK YOU at least for that much!!) wonderful legacies, but poorly ranked and therefore underdeveloped....

Imagine the brand new iPad2, a hot seller atm.

Imagine that in the last month Apple charged $299. Today I checked the price and the same model, same exact thing, is priced at $399. I asked the manager and after confronting him with the fact that my brother and cousin got a brand new iPad2 in that store for $100 less last week, the manager replied: "I'm sorry, the price was incorrect. The item costs $399 and that is the correct price."

Would you believe the dude? Or you think he jacked the price up due to millions of units that were previously sold? /rollseyes

I find this disappointing as well. Not because I was planning on buying them at 295, or that I wont now that they are 395.

It's the image. Anyone that keeps track of these kinds of things (among the playerbase) sees the pattern. Stat Tomes were jacked up in price not once, but twice after F2P hit live. And now Empowerments have been jacked up as well. I don't buy that it is a bug, and it doesn't sit well with me that this is going on, on a regular basis.

As has been said, the price as at 295 for a month in beta, maybe even longer on Palantir/Isengard, and this "pricing error" gets cause 1 day after the patch hits? Too convenient...

The question was asked and answered with factual and accurate information from the store team. For those arguing pricing on Bullroarer is the example, I remind you all that even the forum description for Bullroarer reminds players that everything there is subject to change.
