When is the price of it not going to be preposterously abusive?

I'm honestly not sure that's worth the cost even if they were to bundle a new set of quickslots with every new trait set. The cost should be 50 mithril max. 30-35 would be a lot more reasonable.

Turbine,
You created 3 skill trees, give 2 and put high price on 3rd thinking they are forcing us to buy 3rd to have complete skill set like we use to have. No I will not spend $5+ per character to get the 3rd one. Neither will a lot of us, most of which won't tell you why they didn't buy.
I was about to buy the third slot yesterday, but then i found out that it's NOT account wide.
For that price i'll NEVER buy the slot. I'd rather spend the in game money every time to respec in case i need that setup for a raid/quest/whatever.
It is way overpriced.
Not buying a third slot until its account wide (at the current price point) or its something closer to 10 coins per trait slot. This is pretty punitive for those that have multiple characters.

One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.
Agreed. I will not purchase this as the cost is too high. Even at 50% off it is still way to high. I'd rather spend in game gold to respec all the time
Did I Err?
Not only are they priced too high, but I there's something else that concerns me. As far as I know the trait slots, and the additional house chest slots, are the first permanent character- and account-level unlocks that are being purchased with Mithril Coins instead of TP. The problem with that is that you don't get any email receipt as proof-of-purchase for Mithril Coin purchases. That's fine if you are purchasing a quick travel to quest-giver or task reset, but for a permanent feature unlock for my account or character, I want a receipt, and even more so if it's an ridiculously overpriced one. If you log in one day and find all your expensive extra trait slots missing due to some database corruption, you'll have no way to prove you ever bought them. I bought one for my main before realizing this, and between that and the price, that's the only one I'm ever going to buy.
Thank you all, very much, for this feedback. We'll make sure that those in charge of these systems get feedback posted here!
I had 650tp after exp launch and thought I'd be able to buy a trait slot so that I could have all three lines, but IMO 850 for one slot is too much. And a question, if you buy a slot is it across the account or character?
"...None of us would join the Grey Company if we felt its errand was not important enough to brave those risks. For my part, I will not give in to fear of the unknown. We all have our role to play, and I hope only that when I have played mine, the world will have been better for my having been in it.
Why purchase a third slot at all when the only good reason for it that I've heard suggested is as a work-around to the current quickslot shuffle when switching between two specializations.. and even then, why pay to get around a bug? And until that is addressed, the only thing my characters are good for at the moment is working on deeds. Per character? This is unwelcomed news.
I bought a third slot on two characters because I already had the mithril coins previously (purchased on sale) and never spent them. I'd have to say I regret the purchases. I discovered a third trait line slot wasn't needed and didn't add much benefit, and the price is indeed overly high. Fifty mithril coins would be far better.

For this extreme price why no just buy a new char slot for less TP and get to one for the third trait line and then a random one. I got 9 chars i use a lot. I will mot spend 850TP on 9 chars just to get a trait slot. Price MUST be lowered. It cost less to make a whole new char.
I agree that the price is too high, as it is a per-character purchase, and since it is with Mithril Coins we cannot wait for a Store sale like we can with TP purchases. I would much rather pay a single large price that unlocks the spec slot for every one of my characters, existing and future, like the case is with Mounted Combat spec slots. At the very least, the Mithril Coin cost needs to be lowered. I also agree about the need for a receipt of purchase, especially given the prices involved.

I think it is absolutely overpriced for a single character. I will not buy it.
Unfortunately Turbine will likely dont make any money, because if it stays that way, people will retrait with ingame gold.
Turbine needs to make money, to keep the game going.
Not respeccing for ingame gold is a convenience, not a necessity (in this respect Turbine has not changed its general philosopy)
I think a better strategy would be to make additional trait slots account-wide. I would be willing to pay 1000 TP for such an account wide benefit. A good idea would be to have additional trait slots (also for 1000 TP) for those, that want the convenience to respec immediately.
As far as I know, the 3rd traitslot does not get around any bug. The bug's still there -- if you re-spec you have to manually re-arranged your skills unless you put the skills for each spec in different slots of your skill bar. Since I use a naga mouse, I keep all 12 of my most use skills on the same spots on the skillbar, so this "workaround" is useless for me.
I'd pay 850 points for the 3rd slot, but not until this re-spec/skill-icon bug get fixed. Since a blue name already confirmed this bug, I'm guess/hoping it will be fixed in the next patch.
50 mithril coins is a much more reasonable price though, especially if there's not going to be an option to spend more (say 250 coins) for an account-wide 3rd trait tree slot.
While that is true, it's also highly unlikely. I have 700+ Mithril Coins, but I received all of them when the coins were implemented and other things (like Revival tomes) got converted into coins. (I won all my Revival tomes from Lotteries.) If I had to buy TPs in order to buy coins to get this slot, I think I'd be just as upset about it as you all are.

Sorry but I have to comment on this. Its been a good Year since the entire community complained about the War-Steed Cosmetic/Colours prices and being per character and nothing has ever been done about that. When are we ever going to see that overwhelming negative feedback impact the game?
Please don't speak on my behalf! I NEVER complained about those War-Steed Cosmetic/Colors and the prices they charged per character! I have 4 level 85's and bought 4 War-Steed colors (1 for each horsey). Think how pissed I'll be, (and I'm sure others have bought them as well), if they turn around and sell those account wide now?? If you want something , BUY IT, why ask for things account wide? Same goes for the trait slot.
Turbine is in the business to make money, the sooner you all realize this, the better off you'll be.
Sheesh..... some people just complain for the sake of complaining.
Is that what would be said of you if that happened.. that you were complaining for the sake of complaining? And anyway it does seem like you are using this as an opportunity to complain about something altogether unrelated. Cosmetics are one thing. By all means pay out the nose for that. You're comparing apples to oranges. Game mechanics are something altogether different, and the price for an additional slot, per character is still steep. I myself am not complaining; If the price isn't changed I just won't buy it. I thought about it as a workaround to the hotbar/quickslot problem, but will wait and see if that's straightened out first. Even then I probably won't spend that much. As for wanting something and having to buy it, too bad former skills were cut up into 3 separate parts and now you have to pay for them. But that's considered good business practice to convince consumers there is something they didn't know they needed.
The price is about the same for additional housing storage upgrade and I did purchase that. But that's something that can be shared between characters, so according to your logic that should only apply to one character. It seems the thrust of your argument has more to do with the fear of feeling ripped off if the price on something you paid for (colors for your steeds, which has nothing to do with this thread really), is lowered and made available to others at a more affordable cost.

Agree'd. The prices (both the new trait tree unlocks and War steed cosmetics) are indeed terrible.
I also dont understand why there isnt BOTH an account wide unlock option and a Per Character unlock option.

I agree on this 100% - if I'm going to buy a slot, I want to go to the LOTRO store and buy it with tp. I don't want to use mithril coins. I do want a receipt, and also I'm not a big fain of mithril coins. I always thought the point of introducing them was to have convenience-type items use the same currency; I don't want to have "real" things gated behind them.
I also agree with everyone who said there should be an account-wide unlock. I would be much more inclined to buy it (with tp) if I could buy an account-wide version. It's hard for me to justify paying for something that's character only (unless it's really cheap). I know I'll be playing my main for a long time, so I've made some per-character purchases on her (although not this one so far, because that's just too much for one slot), but for my 14 other characters it's harder to say for sure who I'm going to be playing the most and who would be the best choice for a per-character purchase. When it's account-wide, it's much easier for me to go ahead and pay for it because I know that it will help me even if I play a different character every day, which sometimes I do. If this was account-wide, for a semi-reasonable price, I'm sure I would buy it. (If the price was pretty ridiculous I'd probably wait for a sale and then buy it - but either way, Turbine would be getting tp from me.)
