HA! I just got around to watching Lost (been putting it off for years) and finally got your quote hehe.

Guess this is the answer to the much hated RNG. Just equip the horseshoe and watch your epics drop!

When you have to go get an ox-hide for the quest “Curing the Leather” in Tâl Methedras, is there always a dead ox lying on the ground on the far side of the lake, that you can just click on to get the hide? If not, I may have just found another thing the horseshoe does. Not a big thing, as it just saves you having to kill one ox, but it would fit with the theme of luck. (“There just happened to be a dead ox already lying there just when I needed one!”)

That corpse is always there, giving you a hide. It's not an effect of the horseshoe.

Maybe some of yall should try that Turtle quest you get off the notes in Bree while wearing the horseshoe. A nice little easter egg at the end of that quest line when its equipped

Which would be a super odd thing, since the Bree quest is available early in the game-play (qlvl 21) and the horseshoe is selectable reward from a quest at level 65. I find this to be highly unlikely - and if the easter egg is there, I'd /bug it for being impossible to get.

Impossible? Only if you do them before you can get the shoe. No bugs involved.

Let me explain, if it seemed like a strange comment from me:

Yes but...in the user experience, you don't have the horseshoe available. You have it only if your alt was 65+ and had the quest reward offered to him/her before Bree town makeover. I mean that I can run any quest after intro at cap but the quests don't assume that I run them wearing Fangorn stuff. If the reward or extra is available only with the horseshoe, then I get 'punished' for doing the quest when it was available, no? As opposed to getting rewarded when doing a quest on-level. It just seems wrong.

Not sure how to explain why it looks odd to reward wearing a lv65 thing while running a qlvl 21.

Aha thanks =) And a nice find!

EDIT I had an old alt leftover on Snowy server with horseshoe who could run the quest and have a look. Of course, I saw nothing.

I would not see myself being punished if I was not able to experience every easter egg hidden in the game :-)
Its afterall nothing that grand, for me, you shall be free to feel different and then blame the developer for his pure evilness :-/

It does not look odd to me by the way if high lvl ppl goes back to lowlvl areas to do quests they had passed earlier. Many reasons for doing so.
This particular quest I went back to do because it was added before I had leveled past and it had usable rewards.

Yup, it's no big thing (from reading that spoiler thread). Just a small additional funny.

Here's some hypothesis (based on limited observation) I can't test: When the horseshoe is equipped the mystery drink always buffs. (Sorry if it's old news/already tested etc.)

Permanently retired. Was Kibilturg, Guardian of Imladris (then Landroval & Crickhollow) and ~40 alts.

I checked this, and there's no difference. Had two drinks, removed buffs for the first one, added the debuff for the second one.
If you give away gold bars, someone will complain they're too heavy.

Thanks for checking it. Seems old Kibilturg was exceptionally lucky with tree consecutive drinks buffing

Now we have a new mystery. Erebrandir's Other Horseshoe - has anyone tried it to find out if it includes any of the same effects as Erebrandir's Horseshoe, or is it entirely different?

It is different. Once the last scrap of paper is acquired, we will find the secret location and open the Secret Chest. That chest will contain 2 more Horseshoes. When all 4 of them are equipped in the War Steed mount panel, they will remove all rubberbanding, hitching, and lag which will make the war steed control like a normal mount.

My first laugh of the day.

It's the same effects. While if you look at both horseshoes descriptions, they have slightly different wording (some 'other' people), the buff reads the same way. Even if you use buffbars, it treats the buff the same way as the other buff. (I have the old one ignored, and it carried over the ignore feature).

Now, I might be wrong. I suppose dread debuffs also apply the same yet have different values. Still, I really would expect the buff to say 'erebrandir's OTHER horseshoe' to make it more distinct.

The theory is that this is a way for people who didn't take, or got rid of, the original horsehoe to reacquire it. If someone wants to quickly test it, they can run that turtle soup instance with the horseshoe equipped and check to see if the Hobbit is there.

Oh, like Caras Galadhon's Other Mirror, the Other Cloak of Dreamflower that shares its appearance with Legolas' Other Cloak, and Shield of Other Ithilien Winter that shares its appearance with Tarkrip Shield... nope not this one - the other shield...
