I think the point is that you shouldn't need to read stuff like that to know there's a connection between the encrypted pages found in the chests and the rune pages. That's just asking us to guess there's a connection if we're lucky enough to stumble over one of the chests either before or during the search for the rune pages. Both are very unlikely given where they are and where you go after translating the first rune page.
I'm not saying there should have been a big "go look for the chests" sign but there should at least have been a hint, clue or reason to make you go and collect them. Even the guide you linked to has the line, "There’s a huge leap here to the next step, but head to Zudrugund. Trust me."
In fact, the pages and runes are so disconnected that you can finish the quest, if you know how it works, without even collecting the pages.
Having said that, I would like to see more of this kind of thing.

So there appears to be a bug.
Some players are getting "The Secret Stone" quest auto-bestow that has the poem. Others (like me) are not. I have yet to get it on three characters so far.
This is the quest: http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Quest:The_Secret_Stone
I am going to go back and re-verify on 2 of my characters that it is not in my quest history.
I just tested with a character that has done zero questing in Mirkwood/Dale/Erebor and just completed the Intro to Mirkwood quest and hasn't picked up the Black Book quest line after Mordor yet. I was able to get the Old Tome to activate where I could right click it and make Grotur's quest ring appear. Still no "The Secret Stone" quest auto-bestow quest.
So Devs, there might be a bug here you might want to look into. I would have loved to have been able to read the poem while trying to solve this stuff.

I might have missed something but I still cannot get how the two given clues at the point ("Kheled zaram" and "Binakhram") relate to the dwarf Nár.
How did you know that you have to collect other pages at that point..?
Counter of Stairs
Last thing to try, although you've probably did that, is to literally get on top of NPC next to Old Tome. Neither of those was active for me, so I finally got fed up and took a jump over the table on his head(while riding a goat for a heavier impact) - it might have been a total coincidence of course.
On the other hand, I did have a weird problem in NMW before when I couldn't summon Thorlind to my side to finish the quest. I tried to do that while in front of Erebor and it only worked when I ported to Felegoth milestone. Proximity, delayed reaction, bug?
Where in lotro-wiki did you find that poem? I'm in the same state: I don't remember ever seeing any poem, but I might've forgotten to try reading the original scrap before the first turn-in. The quest "background" text talks about one, but the "history" does not include it. I saw your post and tried searching lotro-wiki but the page on this quest doesn't seem to include it. Where did you see it?
I was wondering if knowing the poem might tell me what I'm supposed to do with the (mild spoiler here...) Nameless clue. I gather I'm somehow supposed to know it leads to such-and-such place, but the quest speaks only of gathering more scraps of paper. My usual assumption would be that I should search an area known for Nameless, but the never-used entrance to the Shadowed Cave yielded nothing, nor did anything else in Foundations of Stone. I gather from this thread that I'm actually seeking several scraps from Old Chests in Erebor and maybe elsewhere, and I found one of those so far. I can see how decoding them might be informative. I'm happy to take community help in the form of a list of those chest locations, but finding the one in that chest didn't increase the scraps in my collection for the quest, so there's no obvious connection. I guess it would be nice if the items from the chests indicated they related to this quest?
Edit: I found the poem in the Bestowal text for the first quest in the line, but I don't remember seeing that. I just got near the right spot and the book started glowing and there was some sort of brief banner, and I don't remember seeing anything when I clicked the book, and then Grotur's ring sent me to ask Thorin, and off I went. Never saw the poem. Looking at it, I still don't see the connection to the scraps from old chests.

You won't see the poem if you have auto-accept auto bestow quests turned on.
Ya it means they are changing the way we play the game again. Like change is good I suppose. Or just change for change's sake. What I am thinking is why did they add a 20 delay to the barrage? And now they want to make the red line the best line. So the other two lines suffer.
You will have to sharpen the sword and change the way you play the game. They are still playing at balancing the game.
Dude first off leave feedback in the proper place so it actually gets seen.
Second off, they are changing it because it is OP and not working as it was intended. Red line for a hunter is supposed to be the strongest with blue closely behind losing the damage for the movement and yellow would fall behind blue for the CC aspect. Common sense alone would tell ya a archer running would not hit as fast and as hard as a archer standing still and taking aim. Barrage itself was broken where it stayed tiered to long and thus made blue line even more op eclipsing red and yellow by huge margins. So, learn a rotation that works, the "nerf" is not as bas as you are claiming if you actually bothered to test it and maybe learn how to trait to get the most out of blue so you can still have that uber damage whilst running. Or, learn to play red line and kill stuff before it gets close to you
ive spent a couple of hours searching Skumfil but cant find Old Gnawer and there isnt a guide anywhere on the internet to tell me how. plz help!
I'm on the key and the keyhole quest, headed to Othrikar. Talked to Lúki once, cannot click on him anymore. I can't see in any guide how to make Rúnvarth appear. So to be simple I cannot talk to Lúki the second time. Is this a bug?
Rúnvarth is standing right beside Luki. He will ask you for three items and remain inactive till you gather all three(it's a very short dialog, I almost missed what he said) . If you talked to Luki but got no dialog with Rúnvarth, I suspect a bug.

Doesn't even cover how one of the devs there confuses the difference between Middle English and English (UK).
Pretty sure Connection is not spelt as Connexion in English (UK), unless we're in 1852. Let alone all the overlaps with Mordor (Armor vs Armour, Jewelry vs Jewellery - making searching up items a PITA).
While there's no excuse for using 'armor' or 'jewelry', 'connexion' is completely proper since that is the spelling Tolkien used in the books and the stated intent of the Devs years ago was to use Tolkien's spelling. You can probably find one of those discussions on this board if you look.
