The reason why we didn't want to extend the Yuletide Festival Encore is because we didn't want it running at the same time as the Anniversary Event, which begins next week. This way those who really want to get the wrapper quest completed can do so. Hopefully in the future the encore won't be fit into as crowded a schedule, and we'll be able to offer it for a more standard 10-day run.
OK.. OK... Here's a solution, why don't you end the encore on the 22nd as planned, but keep storvagun and the quest for storvagun active for 4-5 days longer so that the quest can be completed by everyone? Especially those who are not able to do the quest twice a day due to real life commitments?
I do understand people have other commitments, but honestly, everyone should just be grateful that SSG even gave a Yule Encore, as they originally had no intention of doing so.
I'm more upset that the Legendary Servers won't be getting the Anniversary Festival at all. That seems unfair considering there are other tasks that we could do that have nothing to do with the scavenger hunt.
Well you can't please everyone.
The existing solution works for me.
For those who it doesn't, there's still plenty of other things to do in the festival.
And considering we weren't even sure if we'd be getting an encore, who can complain?
I understand the concern, Cordovan, but as it is, it will be nearly impossible for people to complete. Passover begins this weekend (for some people that is 2 days where they will not be in game). It is Easter this weekend. I have been running the instance every 8 hours since I've been able, and I might, just might, be able to complete it if NOTHING comes up. You could generate a lot of good will by extending it an extra few days. As it is, people are feeling frustrated that something has been set up that is nearly impossible to finish.
IMHO the best option is to desync "festival" events and "gear" events, i think it have different public. Not sure about other people, but i play festivals for fun, and to get cosmetics, pets, mounts, etc (im a collector) but ive zero interest in the gold essence. Other people of course play it FOR the essence and a better gear, its fine.
The previous suggestion about to end the Yule encore and stay with Storvagun quest active have sense, i think. When the event have enough time start both at the same time, if you want, and end simultaneously, but in Encores, tipically you have a short time (1 week in this one for example), then you can to start it simultaneously, but ends at different times, then people that want to wrapp some purchases from the main event can do it, and people that want the essence can to work for to get it.
Anyways all depends how manny essences SSG want that people can to get...
Sergio :-)
Moved from Riddermark to Landroval on 2/10/1015!
I agree. Looking back to when the first festivals occurred, they were (a) well spaced out from each other (b) just plain fun (c) rewards were also fun - cosmetics, fireworks, pretty horses, housing decorations etc
None of the rewards was as good as things you got from quests and deeds. Festival mounts weren't as strong as those you got from Reputation Faction deeds for example. There was NEVER any high end stuff that would effectively cause players to have to juggle time spent questing against time spent doing festival quests in order to gain crystals or whatever.
We quested because we enjoy the story and the game. We played the festival because it was a nice break to have light fun with friends we had wiped with in raids or with friend who weren't playing the same level as us. It was a party. Now it has become yet another reason to grind for noteworthy stuff.
PLEASE go back to separating questing/deed rewards for fighting to save Middle Earth from Fun Festivals where we return to our roots in low level areas to party. And keep the rewards separated that way too - fun rewards for just plain unimportant fun and serious rewards for seriously saving Middle Earth! The two should never compete - they are complementary!
Fatefoot Overdown BRG - Dhinli GRD - Balanir CPT - Garafryn HNT - Palbo MNS - Gilgilieth CHN
I still prefer 2,5 weeks main and 1,5 week encore than 4 weeks in 1 piece. Now l suspect - can be problem with encore.
I support this
This (half-time) Yule Encore is put in "emergency situation" two weekends without event - after shift Anniversary
Unfortunately no started 11 Apr and is the same weekend with RL holidays.
Personaly I probably no will participate or only very limited so I hope for "little cooling middle summer"
Now I will fokus on Anniversary... and is question: why Anniversary was shifted? Is SSG needed more time for make seasonal instance (I hope: from lvl10) or other low lvl slay quests.
Cord, ansver please so fast as possible.
Badly for me i cannt finish storvagun quest before it ends.
I didnt know about 8 hours cooldown so i skipped first day
Then because of my business I skipped second day then my friends told me about new cooldown. But I need to sleep work eat so I can do Storvy 2 tiems per day only. Well, i will get 7/10 or 8/10 maximum for me
I am sure that i am not alone in this sutiation.
Well always thought the lotro is not about time limited grind( it could be better if there were not encore at all![]()

to complete the 10 Storvs since I had to unexpectedly go into work on my day off - I tried to do it consistently on 5 characters but fell short. I wish I hadn't even tried, but I had high hopes that I would be able to complete.
All that time wasted, doing all those runs thinking I would be able to get it done.
Really wish the time period could be adjusted, especially with Easter weekend happening at the same time.
I had a really hard time going every 8 hours but gave it my best. What a mistake to even try and do this.
Well worst part is to stop the encore on Easter Monday - a holiday in most countries at 3am.
Is it possible to bring back the Ill Omens event for some days the way you deed with Yule?

Hello dear administration! Could you extend the winter festival, namely the instance with the Storvagun for only a few days? We are not robots to go into the game every 8 hours and in a short time to get a reward for 10 the passages. Hope for understanding.
If you don't want to do the encores, just ignore them. I played them through last year and I found that having them on nearly all of the time impacted my enjoyment of them (espeaically spring, anniversary, and farmer's faire.) I don't mind them when there are new quests and content added to them - doing that with the summer, harvest and yule festivals made me interested in them again - so perhaps that's the answer to people who have got festival fatigue. Unless something prevents me from doing them at the proper time they are on (and I am not interested in summer and yule being done in the opposite time of year to the northern hemisphere. If you think that way, you'd have to switch the spring and harvest ones too, and have farmer's faire in spring instead of late summer!) I won't be doing the encores. If people still want to do them, that's up to them, but repeating them all the time and putting them on 'out of season' takes away the specialness of them and I don't look forward to them as I once did. (If new items aren't added to them, why would players want to do them again if they've already got everything they want from them? I don't mind that and welcome it.) I would do Hobnanigans if I didn't have to play it with other players to make it work - when I've been at the site it's played on during events, there's no other player in sight, so I wouldn't mind the rewards being in the shop just to get them.

Really? Only one new quest for anniversary? No new pets, no new mounts, only new fireworks and one quest? And we don't have Year 12 quests, we need start other again from Year 1? Something weird here...

Cordovan,
The Beacon and the opening splash screen of LOTRO states that the Anniversary is until May 19, but the 1st page of this thread states it ends on May 20 @ 3a. Which is it? May 20 or May 19?
the festival ends on the May 20 at 0300 EDT
The Beacon says it lasts through the 19th...which means the 19th is the last complete day...not that it ends on the 19th...
There are a number of old threads on this debate... I am glad Cord puts the exact DAY and TIME in the schedule.
Through May 19th, shut off at 3:00 am Eastern on the 20th. Just FYI I avoid using "until" due to the complications it causes, so instead use "through" the last final day Eastern time of the event. I then also put an exact time in the Events Schedule here, assuming I have that info.
