Maybe it's because they need everything go down, including forum and site
May the winds of fortune sail you,
May you sail a gentle sea.
May it always be the other guy
Who says, "this drink's on me."
why so late?
WHY DO PEOPLE WHO KNOW THE LEAST, KNOW IT THE LOUDEST?
Imagine if we had at least one server in Europe...![]()
Someone had to go to the DMV in the morning![]()
Today's maintenance was a bit different than usual and we were working with some Daybreak folks on a few pieces, so were coordinating between both East and West coast times.
It's nice to see what we find out why it have strange time slot and so long, but... if you really need that with not normal time slot and with so long time, why don't say about that to players in few days ahead? Having almost all day off right before weekly quests/instances reset, it's nice if it was announced on monday and players have few days to finish all things off?
I agree with both how nice it is to have explained about the unusual timeslot and that more notice should have been given. If there are going to be times when Daybreak needs to be involved I think all downtime should have a bit more notice, say a couple of days ahead. Surely decisions about the actual day to patch is decided at least a few days ahead, to ensure that deadlines are known about for everyone working on patches or changes to the forum and market (in future if I see the word Forum and a weird time I should think "Daybreak" lol).
If it is impossible to give earlier notice and it is a usual time maybe it would be good just to make a note about why the time is unusual (a bit more than the forum and market are involved, I will admit I did not notice that when I first saw the downtime, I was too busy trying to get over the shock abut the weird time lol (I don't cope with changes in schedules, patching I can accept weird times of patching not so much lol), at least then people won't be wondering what the heck is going on as well as feeling narked that there plan to get things don't in the game is totally destroyed.

Why would Daybreak be involved in server maintenance? I realise the website was down also but if it was website stuff, that could have been completed away from server maintenance surely?
I may be missing something completely and apologies for that if I have as it is early here but I may have wrongly assumed that they are just an owner/part owner and distributor and don't have a hands on with the actual game itself and the game houses they own, run the "day to day" game related tech themselves still inhouse and probably have someone from DB in the management structure somewhere.. but server maintenance? Seems strange to me....
Unless DB have shelled out some dollars for new hamsters![]()
