Und wer auffallen will, muss bekanntlich provozieren.
The AH is too primitive to serve most things. Just for starters the inability to research past sell-through prices would be critical for casual traders, so that they can put up things at prices that neither rip the buyer nor themselves off. It isn't there. So only "professionals" sell and they sell mid and higher level items and they know how to price hard.
I doubt that Turbine will fix the AH now that it is a direct competitor to the store.
Please note that the column 0/10 exists out of armour level 7/10 because new players get out the starter area at level 6/7.
The next column, 11/20, seems to have at least one item in most rows.

When I first started playing (now 17 toons) I bought every armour update I could get, now I don't bother with that anymore, I craft my own, and send it to the toon that needs e.g. a level 12 set, critted or not, depends on the crit mats in my vault.
I am very disappointed about the wording of post 22 in this thread, which doesnt bode well. It's bad form to give a player base the feeling that the players are somehow responsible for a change, especially when many threads on these forums ask, already for many years, for game changes and fixes.
It has nothing to do with the people actually posting here today.
What changed is that those people who picked fights over criticism threads are now missing. Apparently they got bored of the game (the forum game, not the game-game) when there weren't enough victims around anymore.
Of course I wouldn't spend real money for garbage like that but i have spent it on a mount i liked in Wow and for 1 in Lotro. Its just right now you have a bunch of people going overboard over something that can have no possible impact on them in any way. As crafters unless they are selling sub 20 for 3-500+ silver a piece it has no impact on them. As long as they are not adding armor or weapons in the store that is better then crit (or raid assuming raid is better then crit) then i could care less.
Now if they added a Wizard class or a True Pally class I would be up in arms .. I was pretty upset when they added monster play but understood they had to so they could satisfy the pvpers. (No pvp at all on launch)
Thats the thing, its all about the store and how they can get more people spending.
The gear they are selling in the store now, is not only over-priced, it is superior to any crafted armour of the same level.
There will be new players who think they have to buy this to advance.
But believe me, Armour you receive in Quest Rewards will suffice all the way to level 35.
In fact the only time you really need to look at what armour you want is from level 40+
But they realise that there are players out there who's parents have never ending pockets, and will spend anything just to keep the kids out of their hands

For whatever reasaon, Turbine has chosen not to follow this solution. My guess is, they don't want people to skip most of the quests, since the leveling curve is already rather generous.
Solofication of the Epic Storyline, reducing Mob Health, selling all kinds of boosts. The ability to buy a mount as soon as you join the Real Game (after Training Instance)
So all this is NOT meant to get the player to End Level quicker
Turbine didnt adjust the level curve, they almost got rid of it.
Yes, that is exactly the issue. Adding uber Store gear for level 20 isn't the immediate end of the game - but it is a sign of worse to come and as such people will start leaving now, before the worst comes to effect. It's not even gonna wreck the in-game economy balance: it's gonna wreck the PR image Turbine still has, making LOTRO one of the "P2W games that sell gear and ergo inevitably suck" in eyes of every RPG player out there.
These are all items listed at that time, regardless of crit/looted/regular crafted.
The claim in post 22 here is that there is not enough low level armour in the AH, so we now get 'options'.
I wonder what is worse, 300 silver for one piece of 450 tp?
As a new player I rather spent silver on a horse for 500s.
2x 450 tp buys shared storage, account wide, as long as you play.
Just remember that goes both ways. There's a lot of us that really don't think the world is going to end on Tuesday, six months from Tuesday over this. And by your own logic, our opinion is just as valid.
Also, I have to wonder... how is it that relics for LI's being sold in the store didn't render this kind of uproar, but a couple of dinky chestpieces did? Did those relics not have stats attached to them? What about the Finesse scrolls? What about the various buffs and boosts? Where was this level of outrage then?
Oh my! maybe "the armor will grow with you", and not have to be discarded ;)
In all honesty people, having these armors in store might actually encourage more crafting and AH buying. I remember when Turbine added crafting tools to their store and a lot of people were in an uproar that it would affect the metalsmith profession. Well it did and in a good way, at least on my server. Before the tools were offered in the store my crafted tools sold for less then what I could sell the mats to make them. So I stopped crafting them. Now I make a descent profit and they sell usually for more then if I were to piece-meal sell the mats!
The store actually gives an incentive to buy the items in game!!! Why spend hard earned tp on items that can be purchased with more easily obtained in game gold and silver???
Don't assume that just because something is offered in the store that the masses will buy it. I for one, believe that we should give the majority of lotro players more credit then what people are saying in this thread. People for the most part like bargains and thanks to the Turbine store crafted tems (of any type) are a better bargain to purchase from other players then they are to buy with tp from Turbine.
It is interesting to me why more people don't see this?
Therefore, I ask those of you who are very unhappy with this to please reserve your judgement until after this thing has had time to play itself out. In the end, I don't think it will effect negatively even one pixel of your gaming experience (unless of course, you continue making a pixel mountain out of it!) :)

The game is still play to win. Since the introduction of f2p the era of pay to win is over. You can still obtain all currencies to barter store items by playing the game: sigils and medaillons for the store in ox-clan camp and TP for the other store. As long as this fact is given there will be no pay2win again.
Turbine knows about her highest sceptican community. There is no reason at all, that you'll find highend Armor-Sets in the Shop.
I trust Turbine in this way, and for me it's absolutly ok.
Im trying to even understand why this is needed. This isnt Lotro from 4 years ago.,its no where near as hard as it was at low lvls to require gear. Then the mobs hit twice as hard, gave half the xp,the quests gave half the xp,there was no quest tracker,no rested xp and you had to fellow A lot more quests and for almost all the epics.Even a new player will be able to lvl fairly quickly. Most of those that don't are doing the same thing a lot of us did when we started and that is taking in the sights and exploring the ME.
In U5, expert scholars stopped selling any recipes past T3 - they became world drops - and other crafts lost some vendor recipes, too.
I wonder how many more recipes will go missing, both from vendors, and maybe from crafting panels, with the new update.
When saying we have the option to post low level stuff on ah they are plainly lying, with even as vip severly limited auction house space noone is able to post sets for more then 10 levels in range. esp. not if its tailor who can make light and med armor,
so yes naturally there is not much good (crit) gear for lower level on AH.
Also it is an question of how much the raw materials cost (in time or coin) versus for how much you can expect to sell the finished gear.
Seeing the prices for the gear in store I do not think anyone in his right mind will spend money on them when they can with just a wee bit work get crafted gear from their guild or in public channel (unless the gear covers a whole level range like i will explain below).
The store gear would be an option I would not entirely stand against IF the stats where the same as same level crit crafted gear, only available till level 30-35 (a level almost everyone should have an kin at or if not at least know how and where to contact crafters to fill his needs) AND if the gear came in an gift box like the one new toons get and contains every 5 or so levels armourpieces that are equivalent to the same level crit crafted.
Out of own experience this would help players out, as esp till level 30ish it is in most cases extremely hard to farm for example sturdy hides in time to get an decent set made when you need it, and prices for low level materials are for lower levels much too high at that level. (prices for mats on ah are understandable tho because it takes just as much time to farm copper ore then it takes to farm skarn.)
No one here is worried about turbine moving in on there crafting market. Its the fact that this is another leap away from what the store was introduced as and we were told it was going to be.Its low lvl stuff now. What happens next year when for only $50 you can buy a full lvl 75 raid set?We were told at the start that the store would be not be what it has become.most items were all suppose to be available in game yet now 90% of items in the store are store only items.
If that is the reason theyre giving, then its not quite a solid one....
In the level range of 20-30...or hell even in the range of 30-40, there are SO many quests and quest rewards that give purple gear or just good yellow gear that is more than sufficient to get past those levels.....and as it is, it does get outdated very fast....
Also, part of why this is not a good thing is that if players feel the lack of good gear in game around those levels, they SHOULD interact with others and find crafters or kins or people to group up for GB and stuff to get the GB set (which is infact so easy to get, and lasts till lvl 30+)....that is the time to forge contacts, join kinships.....with store bought gear at those levels, people are gonna be stranded at higher levels when they have no friendly crafters or kins nor good grouping experience and hence it will go further downhill from there.....as it is, with all the options available to bypass group stuff (like the rare items needed for the lvl 45 class quests made available via various other methods than actual obtaining them), people skip CD, Uru, Rift.....and then land up in Moria with no experience.....when it is actually needed and there is little alternative to it.....that is when these very people complain about how gear is available to only the "elite raiders" and others get ###### stuff.....it is because of the habit of getting stuff otherwise in earlier levels.....I am not a hardcore raider myself and I barely get to raid at all except at weekends, neither is my kin a raiding kin....but I know the importance of interacting and working together with other people in the community....thats the point of an MMO....
And if its f2p or premium players they are targeting, I'd rather make them save up tp to buy the quest packs rather than some armor that will last em a few levels....
I am sorry to say, despite their bestest intentions behind it, I cannot bring myself to support this decision....
