It was Earnur, the thirty-third and last king of Gondor (until Aragorn and his descendants) and also my favorite king of Gondor.

Folca, the thirteenth king of Rohan was known as the mighty hunter, and was quite successful at hunting both beasts and orcs. Until that is, he was killed by a boar.

Orome, Lord of the Forests was also known as "The" hunter. He's also indirectly involved in the creation of orc-kind, as the elves that first met him were split into two factions, those that saw his glory and those that feared him. Those that ran were corrupted by Morgoth.

I know he was known as Gandalf Greyhame in Rohan, and Tharkun by the dwarves... not sure if either of those answers is the one you're looking for though.

I don't think Gandalf actually had a name from the men of the East... it depends how far East you're talking about. He was called Incanus by the Haradrim (Southrons) if that's what you're looking for. Occasionaly he was called "Greybeard" by some of Sauron's servants, some of which could have been Easterlings.

It was a trick question... in the same passage where he says he's called Tharkun by the Dwarves (Gandalf in the North, Mithrandir by the Elves)... he says "and into the east, I go not". Sorry if it was too tricky.

Actually, it is Curunir, not Curinur. Eol was known as the dark elf, and he forged the swords Anglachel and Anguirel from the metal of a meteorite.
