    Re: I Remember When...

I remember when ghost bear was patrolling the servers and scaring everybody with random roars.

I remember when everybody was capped at level 15 and there were epic raids on random mobs around middle earth

I remember when there was real lightning and thunder when a storm was about.

I remember all the character wipes

I remember when 1g was OMFG rich.

I remember when crafting was hard and it was rare to get crit items

I remember when raid bosses where very difficult and would kick our asses. (before nerfs)

I remember alot of great times, oh how the game has changed in two years.

Oh I also remember the HORRIBLE old hunter animations lol.

    Re: I Remember When...

I Remember during end of the world(closed beta)
Bree and every other town was attacked heavily by monster's

I Remember geting touchd by a giant(gm) during closed beta and was instant lvl 50. So i rushed to angmar to try to cross by the statues of death.
(trying several times at lvl 35 )
Only to find even at lvl 50 i could not pass, due to not completing the chapter quest, didnt find this out till laterz .. lmao.....

I also remember when crafting was a challenge and you would spend hrs waiting and camping a certain rare spawnd mob for it's claw or horn etc...
That's what made crafting fun and items crafted more appreciated, due to the effort needed to make a item... not the hogwash in today's crafting system...

I remember when Warsong was the big man on campus in the 'Moors.

I remember when the Old Forest scared the Guard out of me.

    Re: I Remember When...

I remember when I first ran from Ered Luin to Bree, not knowing about the horse masters in the closed beta hehe

I remember taking a horse from Duillond to Celondim after I found out about them and it riding me off the waterfall...

I remember getting lost in the snow in the Vale of Thrain and then finding a dead dwarf corpse and htinking it was rare, then finding some Barrow Iron Ore on it and swearing that it was the rarest stuff in the game

I remember swimming across Lake Evendim and seeing the sandcastle and taking screenshots.

I remember being thrilled when I passed the 2k screenshot mark

I remember laying down on the rock in the middle of the Barandalf and calling it Campsite Rock, and staring at the virtual stars (because it was really cloudy and I couldn't look at the real ones....)

I remember being dinged to 50 in the end of the closed beta event when we were all attacked by Drakes, and being slaughtered by them!

I remember finding the Blue Lady and thinking that it was the most spectacular cave I'd ever seen.

I remember trying to run into Angmar via the hillman encampment at level 15, not knowing about the Earth-kin camp route into Aughaire.

I remember stopping in the Shire and just listening to the music.

I remember standing on the hill in Bree and playing music with someone I barely knew, just to see if we could.

I remember making a mock Levitating Kin for when you could still /sit or /liedown in mid jump and stay up in the air

I remember becoming a GM Prospector when the level 15 cap was still running all that time ago, and being very proud.

I remember when I didn't used to ramble

Thornley's Bow is not an achievment, it is a requirement.

I remember being around level 14, using some poopy bow.. and my wife doing the quest (she sits next to me in the den) and got the bow and said "Is this a good bow honey?". I went WOAH! How did you get that?

I always credit her for the discovery of that golden treasure. Thank hon!

    Re: I Remember When...

I remember going into MoM for the first time... at level 53... took a ride to DV and saw the instance quests "The Training Hall".

I thought to myself. "Oh Cool... a place to learn how to fight in MoM" (training... lol).

So after I died 5 times trying to kill the guy with the damage reversal corruption... I screamed!

Then I learned not to attack them when they get this buff.

My first hour in MoM was not a good experience.

    Re: I Remember When...

I remember when I felt like a lost little pup! This was/is my first MMO and been playing since launch.

I remember when I spent my first 3 weeks of playing just in the Shire on my hob burg and thinking -- Wow! what must the rest of Middle Earth be like? and will I ever see it at this rate?

I remember at lvl 25 and running all over the place for months, when I kept seeing chars on horses and finally discovering the horse stables (doh! -- total n00b). Oh, you have to click on the NPC with the blue horse over his head *smacks forehead*! And then having to RUN back to all the places I had been to activate those horse stables! BUT, I had a ton of money because I never had spent it on rides.

Yeah, I remember my first run to Rivendell, but more so, I remember my first time up the pass into MM and it was night and the full moon coming over the mountains. I literally stopped dead in my tracks!

I remember when Old Sally got attacked by wild boars instead of rats and it actually took 2 of us at level to complete. But she still walks soooooo slow.

I remember my first time in Nan Wathren -- Holy Cow! and falling off a cliff and dying, but still being able to make it back to my group because I rode the coat tails of another group going in.

I remember Weathertop when it was actually an adventure, challenge, and amazing (well it is still amazing).

I remember when Book 1 actually needed a group to complete the entire thing, not just chapter 11. And the dourhands in chp 11 were elites(?) and not norms.

Everyone remembers their first time in GB. First major group content, first major instance. First "Oh Cr@p" and "Oh Wow" moments. It still is great!

    Re: I Remember When...

I played one of the betas but I don't remember which, me and the person I downloaded the game with ran to Rivendell at level 15 at night, with all the trolls throwing boulders at us. That was my most awesome memory. I was so scared and it was downright frightening to get lost on that 'path' thru the high moor. I didn't sign up for an account when the game went live until a year later. At that time, my brother and I started playing and the whole first 15 levels I kept saying to him "We MUST run to Rivendell before it is equal level to us!!" We made the run, and it was just as exciting as my first time. That will always be the standout, flagship exciting time I've had in this game. There are other awesome times, such as:
when I literally jumped 2 inches out of my chair when the first wight in low lands popped out of the ground. totally unexpected at whatever low level I was.

my first trip up Weathertop and seeing the stones left there by Gandalf.

my first few times fellowshiping in Lone Lands- all those goblins and spiders!!

Garth Agarwen, where I first met my in-game best friend who at the time was level 50 and I was merely in my 20's

after EVERY instance I come out of thinking to myself "Man, this game is just too full of awesomeness!" even today I still think that after my first run of every single instance and alot of the quests.

    Re: I Remember When...

I remember my first foray into the Moors on a creep (This is the only MMO I've played, so I had no idea what was going on) and being astounded that a Ranger with over 100K health had just insta-killed me. I never went back until I had my lvl 50 guardian, and realized I had stumbled upon a freep controlled rez circle.
I remember wandering around NW Bree, the foresty area by Everclear Lake, and turning around to see a giant, lvl 30, elite tree chasing me, a little lvl 20 dwarf guardian. I have gone back looking for that tree, but have yet to see him again.
My first time seeing the Northern Lights-like effects of the Forochel night sky. Simply breathtaking.
    EDIT - I remembered more.....
Catching chair trains around Bree, and having someone haul us all the way to Buckland. Sad they fixed that one
One of my first times in Trestlebridge, I was inching over the edge next to the bridge to see how far down it was....needless to say I stepped just a hair too far and plummeted to my death. My friend and me laughed rather hysterically.

    Re: I Remember When...

I remember the first and only time I ninjaed a resource node, this is my first (and only) MMO, and I had no idea that the nodes need to respawn before being used again, boy did the guy cuss me out on that...
I remember entering the Great Barrow for the first few times and saying I never want to come back in here, only to discover there are worse places, Dol Dinen to name one place.
I remember my first time in Rivendell, Bree, Bag End and all the other places Tolkien wrote about that and how awesome it was to visit them, it still is.
I remember my first time on the Rivendell run having no idea which way to go up to the high moore and asking the advice channel on where to go.
I remember going in the Old Forest the first time, and how terrifying it was, it still creeps me out on lowbies.
I remember meeting all the heroes from the books for the first time and how fun it was to actually meet them.
This last one is rather recent, as it came from the yule festival, but I loved the quest arc where you try to prevent Lobelia being the head of the yule festival, it was well written and the finale with the little girl coming up the hill was brilliant, I was overjoyed at ruining Lobelia's plans.

    I remember:

seeing Bag End for the 1st time.

seeing my 1st moose in Forochel

seeing all the places from the books in perfect detail

and not knowing about the UI controls yet and wearing that stupid L15 Hunters Wolf Helmet thing without knowing I could hide it (ah the old days)

seeing the Fellowship of the Nine for the 1st time in Rivendell.

walking thru the pass and seeing Rivendell below me for the 1st time (I still love that view to this day).

the day I was able to finally venture beyond Rivendell and not have to avoid any monsters

Hitting Level 40 at last (woohoo!)

collecting and keeping every useless thing.

buying a house and paying that ridiculous weekly fee for no real reason

looking forward to seeing more of Middle Earth...

    Talking Re: I Remember When...

I spent countless hours trying to solo the Great Barrows because I thought it was a solo instance.

Thinking that my minstrel was INVINCIBLE...until 2 boars jumped me near Bree.

Running in on the coat tails of other groups to pick up quest items and wondering...if only there was a way to group together, this would be much easier.

When that one guy explained what a fellowship was...and just how much like a moron I felt afterwards.

laughing at people for using LFF for 5/6 for midnight raid

    Re: I Remember When...

Starting an elf, running the prologue, and then fast-forwarding 300 years to the actual game to find myself in the overgrown ruins of where I just was. "Now that's just cool."

First time I saw a wight, in Ered Luin. "Whoa! Yikes, what are YOU doing here? Shouldn't you be in the Barrow Downs?"

First time in the Old Forest. "What the heck is happening? Aaaagh!"

First time rescuing Lalia. "Forget your stupid cloak, let's get out of here!"

First time I ran the Great Barrow. "Slow down you idiots, I'm trying to collect chalices! NO, don't aggro that guy, I'm still at 1/2 health! Great, now I'm dead and the map is broken so I have to stumble my way around to find the group. Oh, nevermind, they're all dead too because they won't stop running to the next room. YOU PEOPLE ARE MORONS! THIS QUEST SUCKS!"

First time I ran Retake Weathertop. "This is SO COOL!!!" And our poor hobbit burglar fell off the mountain and got locked out of the instance. Glad they fixed that particular bug!

First time in Rivendell. The music! The vista! So beautiful

Hunting down Gollum. Whee, chase-chase-chase! Wistan, you are such a twerp!
