You may assume my obligatory flame here, but what's that about a search feature? It already has the search function if you know part of the name - select 'all' and put the letters into the box, and it starts going.
If you have additional ideas to make the search friendlier or more useful, or if you meant something entirely different with your reference, this is probably a good place to lay it out (or in Suggestions), since ransroth has been responding in this thread.
I agree with you about taking only partial stacks out. For example, I want to pull out just enough cooking goop to make a Feast of Harvestmath rather than shuffling things in and out of the vault.

Ports haven't needed to be on your quickslot for quite some time. You can either click them directly from your skill book, or if you want to use a plugin, use TravelWindow.
Consumables don't really need to be either. You shouldn't be needing them in-combat, so I usually just throw them together in one bag and click what I need before a fight.

Cool. It took me a while to get it set up - the directions about where to put the Turbine plugin substrate don't match where they really need to be - but I have it up and I'm trying it out. It may well solve my issues.
However, I'm not sure it's going to work for players who never hit the forums and wouldn't be able to find the right directory and 7zip and everything else that's needed. Seems to me that the basic functionality should all be in-game, or at least trivially clickable by an even less sophisticated user than me.
Anyway, thanks for the pointer.

I concur. I like the idea of some plugins, but I don't want the default Turbine answer to become "let's just let the community fix our UI". I don't think they're headed down that route but it bears saying. UI improvements and functionality should first and foremost come from Turbine.
Frankly, I don't even see the need for a plugin for this.
"K" to open Skill window. It defaults to Active Skills tab (unless you've changed it during the play session).
Click on the "-" button to minimize the tree.
Click on the "+" button next to Wayfaring (or the Warden equivalent).
Select your desired "Guide to" (or "Muster in") skill and right-click on it.
Guides and Musters all have ridiculously long induction timers, so it's not like the extra second or two is going to matter.
Same thing goes for selecting a mount. One keypress, a left-click, and a right-click and voila. (Insert a little scrolling if you're a collector of mounts, of course.)
Dwarf Guardian, Hobbit Hunter 65; Elf Rune-keeper 55; Elf Hunter 49; others 7 to 36.
Two of each class; 3+ of each of the ones I like; 8 x KSM and counting....
Asheron's Call'99, Dark Age of Camp-a-lot'01, Everquest II'04, Vanguard'07, (M)Age of Conan'08, Lord of the Rings Online'09, Rift'11.
I keep several ports on my hot bar because having to sort through the skills each and every time becomes a pain in the backside. I do so for ports I don't use very often and the difference is very noticeable. And mounts are buried even deeper than the ports are. I keep two mount icons on my hot bar for every one of my characters that have entered Moria; a goat and a horse. My main hunter has four of his many mounts on his hot bar as I enjoy having him riding his various reputation mounts and digging for them each and every time is aggravating.
I'd very much like to see Turbine add a shortcut for all ports/musters to their UI. It would certainly make playing the game more enjoyable for me. As for mounts, I'd be happy if someone came out with a plug-in that would let me select certain mounts and have one randomly appear when I clicked an icon.
Half of being clever is making certain you are not being stupid.

I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment. However...
I agree with this sentiment even more. At this point, I don't care how it happens. If Lua scripting is the quickest and easiest way to provide us with the functionality that is missing from the new vault then I am 100% in favor of it.

( thanks for the correction )
This thread has been looked at from every which way it can be looked at, for better or worse, the change is there. I personally hated the change at first, however, after time and bit of rearranging I see the need for the change on Turbine's part to head toward a dynamic solution. I also find that I can organize my vault even more with the change, with no limit to each chest, i can put all my crafting components in one chest without having to find room in another.
That being said, I do wish that there was a way for the user to view more than one chest at a time. Even the search function is cumbersome for me, I cannot even look at all of my armor at once, which makes it rather aggravating to find things at times, if I cannot remember what chest i put a certain item in. Just my two cents.![]()
