    Invitations Have Been Sent!

The fifth batch of invitations to the Palantir Private Preview Program just went out!

Please note: This is not an invitation to the Bullroarer Closed Beta!!

Please check your email for an invite. Please assure you check junk/spam folders as our emails have been filtered there in the past.

Please remember that all aspects of this program are confidential, so if you have been invited to join please do not post here or anywhere else stating so.

We thank everyone for applying, and if you didn't get invited this time around you are welcome to apply again at any time.

EDIT: Please note this applies to applications sent in from 06/17/11 through 07/25/11. If you sent your application on 07/26 or later it has not been processed yet and you do not need to reapply.

Edit: To be clear, I'm not discouraging you from joining for a season to test ROI, but I am reminding you that this is a program that asks you to test specific things on a regular basis, not just show up and test whatever you feel like that day. [At least, this is the impression I've been given from various posts from QA folk]
I've known about PPP for about a year now and have yet to apply because I CAN'T commit to being a high-quality tester (too many RL commitments). My earlier question was just an idle curiosity, and I have absolutely no intention of wasting anyone's time, as you put it. I think I'll hold out for beta, but thanks for the info Kehleyr!

I respect that, my statement was made not only to you, but to other people considering applying. I for one can't apply because of my account status due to technical aspects with the billing system's automated processes. I want the best testers available testing because I want this to be the best game it can be. Here's hoping you get an invite to the Bullroarer beta which is a little more free form. Obviously you'll take it seriously.

I wish the fifth batch of PPP invite folks all the best!

Wasn't my intention to insinuate that you thought I'd be wasting their time either. Too bad they only take VIPs... I wish you luck in getting into the BR beta.

Guess I gotta keep forwarding the same email over and over again. I was in Isengard, cmon man, some of us were in college when the new billing system was implemented and had to cancel to eat!

This isn't a lottery like Bullroarer, if nothing's changed on your application there really isn't a reason to resend it.

A: Yes, we definitely encourage this. We have had several participants that applied more than once. If, upon hindsight, you think your application may have been lacking, by all means revise it and try again. What we don’t encourage is submitting the exact same application over and over. This isn’t a lottery – more attempts don’t make acceptance more likely.

I wonder if the version of RoI currently being tested on palantir is the same as the one on Bullroarer?

While I have no direct knowledge, my impression is that all builds arrive at Palantir before reaching Bullroarer, (that means, Bullroarer gets a somewhat more stable/polished build for people to test on). I am however curious what percentage of internal builds reach Palantir.

Ah ... ok ... I didn't know it worked like that. I sent a motivation to LOTROPreview@turbine.com why I'd like to be in the PPP with some IRL and in-game background on the 8th of July (according to my mail logs). I didn't have a response on it at all so I was wondering if my mail got lost or reviewing would be that thorough I shouldn't expect a response that soon (or you guys were overwhelmed with applications ... that could be happening too of course).

    So, should I just reapply?

They don't respond to application e-mails.
Since invites was sent out yesterday, and you applied before that date, you'd have to re-apply.

It seems for some reason that whoever you use for the email has blacklisted that address. If you have an email account with a different provider try that instead?

They do not respond to every applicant. When they go to do another round, they email all the applicants they currently want to add.

If your application is accepted the invitation to the program will be sent to the email address that is registered to your Live account.

So just assure that email is the one you want it to be at https://myaccount.turbine.com/ and you will be all set.

I checked the RBL list to see if Turbine's IP came up with any problems, but it was ok.

Might want to check to see if your IP address or your ISP is blocked on any spam lists. You can do so here:

To me it seems that you have configured your computer (your app mail?) to send mails directly to the Internet rather than using your ISP's SMTP service. This is, in general, a very bad idea and especially so if you don't have a static IP address.

It was your IP address that was blacklisted, probably because someone else had sent spam earlier using that IP address OR you might have a virus on your computer allowing others to send spam from your computer causing your IP to be blocked. If anyone else from the same IP pool sends out spam you're likely to get blocked again and again.

You should probably contact your ISP's Crown Control... I mean ISP's Customer Care department to get the proper details to use when setting up your e-mail client.
