Lols, had a symbol drop yesterdayHoping to get some more boxes now to get a 2nd one :P
i think its all a lie there wasnt no increase what so ever h9ow can u justifire someone farming for 5 hours and not once get a key or box....if turbien are gonna say oh we increasing the drop rate at least be man/woman enough to tell us what the original and increased percentage is
After 100 + NPCs....zero lootboxes
Not much of an increase
Found one while running Sword Halls, normal mode, yesterday evening. It dropped on one of the adds from either the sorceror or the Merrevail. Not sure.
I happened to have found a Key last week while questing, so my kinnie gave the lootbox to me, I opened it and found a LI title, not sure which or what it does, and.... 10 Compendiums of Middle Earth Vol. 2 :-)
Gave 4 Compendiums to the kinnie that gave me the lootbox, gave 3 compendiums to the other kinnie in the fellowship and kept the other 3 compendiums to myself, everybody happy :-)

Yes there is. This is MY community too, and I have every right to inform people of the rules. You don't like it, you can leave. Whatever you choose to do, it won't matter to me, because this is the last post I will see from you, unless it's in a quote.
And anyone who thinks it's NOT rude to basically say "My thread is so much more important than yours, so I'm going to make a post to ensure mine is above yours" is the one who needs to get a life.

And some creeps. Most of whom shall remain nameless :p
Not surprised. Their drop rate before was somewhere around the rate of one box every 2000 mobs, or 0.05%. I highly doubt that they would have increased it to 10% or something like that. More like one box every 500-1000 mobs that drop loot if we're lucky.
I still doubt that I'll see a box this weekend and that doesn't bother me that much. I've said it before and I'll say it again- if you're grinding mobs trying to farm a lootbox you're wasting your time for nothing. Go play the game and maybe you'll get lucky and get one in normal game play. To do otherwise- and especially to expect otherwise, is, well, kinda dumb in my opinion.

I want to know where you got the 1 in 2000 mobs number, who's data,...that sort of thing...
because of the mobs I'm farming.. I originally looked at 'mobs looted'. and had a rate of 1:200 for the weekend....
then someone asked me to look at mob kills.
In that period. I've gotten 8 'items' in ~3000 mobs for a rate of 0.26%, certainly seems...doubled or perhaps trippled.. But quadrupled strikes me as odd.
I'm just curious where the initial number came from.

Just wondering if I missed something. Has there been a lottery yet? Checked a few times, but haven't seen one yet so thought I'd ask.The keys can be found off of fallen enemies, rewards within the lootboxes themselves, on the auction house, in special lotteries all weekend long, or through the LOTRO Store.

Spent an hour murdering dwarves on my spider and nary a key or lootbox. Enough to tell me the drop rate wasn't increased enough to devote any more time to it.
Whatever the rate increase, I'm on the side of "not enough"...or at least not enough that they should've really bothered with an announcement of the fact. I'm all for an increased drop rate as a short-term boost or motivator, but so far it's just been a huge, huge sinkhole of my weekend time that probably would've been better spent elsewhere, in-game or out.
Either I'm just one of the many super unlucky or the increase isn't all it's cracked up to be. Countless hours on mob after mob both last night and so far today and only one lootbox that turned out to be a complete dud (box contained only one thing...a "bound" earring with stats of no interest to the character type/hunter that found and opened the box).
Got that one box last night and not a single box or key since then. (The key I used to open the box, I bought at the auction house for way more gold than the box turned out to be worth.) *sigh*

Hours and hours of PvEing and not one lootbox.
Now this I am totally and completely agreed with. My son and I in grinding out a few deeds did get one box to drop after about 3 hours, but that was it. And that's about what I expected. Personally I don't think they should have made an announcement unless they were bumping up the boxes enough so that everyone should have been getting them around a rate of one every couple of hours. As it is, I'm thinking it's going to be another PR move that backfires on them.
But I also still stand by my earlier statements as well.![]()

800+ level 75 kills this weekend and not a single key or loot box.
I give you props Turbine. You got me. You got me good.

Total number of level 75 mobs killed: 5558. keys & Lootboxes:0
One box and one key after way, way too much grinding--nothing but 2 pieces of mediocre caster jewelry that bound to my champ. I think this little promotion or whatever they want to call it is a fail. The number of people frustrated seems to far outnumber the folks who are happy, and I don't think Turbine is making that much money out of it. The drop rate is still too low and the loot is still too screwed up.
A better way would have been a higher drop rate with useful loot in each box, even if the rate for the best items (i.e. WSOTEK) remained low. A stack of morale pots doesn't piss people off the way a #### damage scroll or useless BOA jewelry does.

For what it is worth .. I found 2 lvl 70-75 lootboxes in isengard, looted from lvl 75 non-signature mobs. One box had some potions but the other contained a Worn Symbol of the Elder King and level 3 tome of Vitality.

Already replied on this thread, but it's worth an update, if only to reiterate and re-emphasize my extreme frustrations.
Hunted mobs for hours and hours more after my prior response, and still, my luck hasn't changed. Didn't loot a single key or lootbox today. I give up. I CANNOT waste any more hours of my weekend on this alleged great "increased" lootbox droprate when the thing I seem to have "looted" most from all this is nothing but frustration, disappointment and a great degree of anger that I actually bothered to try (aka clearly wasted) that much time of my weekend on this.
Part of me wanted to keep trying all weekend in hopes my luck was just bad and the good would catch up later, but I can't. No optimism left. Lots of mobs and countless hours of no drops on an "increased droprate weekend" tends to kill your optimism real fast. In fact, it killed mine hours ago. I've just now realized it's time to give up.
You know, I begin to wonder if a bigger reason for any increase or report in drops at all this weekend is because we've been somewhat duped into hunting for lootboxes by the announcement of increased drops, thus more of us have been out there specifically in kill mode, rather than quest mode, craft mode, etc. If more mobs are being done in, of course the chance for more drops goes up. Just a thought...........
Funny... I found a box Friday before the supposed bonus to drop rate. Since I had some deed to complete, I thought it was a good idea to do them this weekend...
Nope, not a single drop after several hundreds kills. I'm glad my deeds are done now, but I guess someone in Turbine forgot to switch this bonus on - or it's just Stat Books v2.0: they have a chance to drop in chests, and everyone knows how high that chance is, right?![]()

If you (and others) would look at the "What did you get?" thread you wouldn't be surprised by drops like that. Nor should you be surprised at the still extremely low drop rate of the boxes and keys.
Really people. Yes, Turbine blew it by announcing an "event" that really isn't an event, but those getting upset are being silly expecting things that never were going to be there when the information has been out on the forums for quite a while. Drop rates are normally very very rare, so now they've just moved up to very rare. And what's in the boxes is a crapshoot and has been the whole time. Getting upset with Turbine because you spent hours grinding mobs when you wouldn't take a few minutes to get informed is pointing the blame at the wrong people.

I have farmed 8 lootboxes before this event at a rate of 1 ever 3 hrs. Since this week started I have farmed for 19hrs and only received 2 lootboxes no keys. Are you guys sure you turned it up? Or is there an extraneous variable such as the new influx of farmers that would lower the rate? My fellow farmers are also noticing an actual decrease, in fact he is at 19hrs now with NO lootboxes.
Also Can you confirm that store bought keys and dropped keys are equal in all aspects, as in chance to get a WSoTEK
Others are reporting tons of keys and no boxes. Something really weird is going on here.

Did not see a single Lootbox all weekend
Spent several hours farming
Hyping up false "events" like this is not appreciated
