You are correct. Every ToDT boss, including Gothmog, re-bestows the challenge quest after a fail.

However, was this your first attempt that night or did you previously fail it before that successful attempt? I've noticed that on a wipe, if people retreat before the boss can reset (on several stages of the fight), the encounter sometimes does not reset properly (especially when there are long DoTs involved), stays in combat and thus does not re-bestow the challenge quest. This may be what has bugged it for you. My tip would be to make sure no one retreats on a wipe before you can actually see the boss(es) resetting and the challenge quest popping back up.

It is quite a shame that GMs know so little about the game they are moderating.

This might be the problem. If you had a wipe and dit not fail the challenge, then things have gotten bugged. The challenge should be failing on a wipe, so that you can start over with a fresh challenge on the next try. If you never lost the challenge after you wiped, then that is what has caused the bug.
Make sure everyone dies (preferably to a boss and not by falling off a bridge for example) and do not retreat until you get the message of failing the challenge when everyone has died. You can then retreat and the challenge quest will re-bestow.

I was talking with a GM and the GM said that you only get the challenge quest once per raid, but I know for a fact that the challenge quest resets after every attempt.

The GMs were +Moose and +Geneva.

Both completely clueless, unhelpful, stubborn, and downright rude to their customers

We did the challenge but it didn't complete due to one of Turbine's bugs,and their response was just ridiculous. Completely unwilling to admit the fault and simply didn't care.

I then told the GM that she might have mistaken Throne of the Dread Terror for Silent Street, but then the GM then confirmed that he/she was talking about Throne.
I kindly said to the GM that they might have been mistaken, but GM then closed my ticket without replying to me, as the GM knew that I was correct, and they in the wrong, but they didn't want to admit it.
This isn't me begging for the challenge chest and challenge deed by the way, it's just the extremely poor service from the GM's.

I even have screenshot proof of +Geneva saying that in IMS. But I don't want them to feel that I am attacking them.

But there is nothing that can be done now, so no good crying over it.

How is calling the GM out by name and claiming you have SS proof less of an attack than posting the SS? If I was Geneva, I would feel equally attacked by either action.

All of this goes back to my original point, which is that some groups receive GM help for bugs which allow them to down bosses they may or may not have beaten, while other groups do not receive equal help, preventing them from downing bosses they also may or may not have beaten. If we're going to give Eru Echor credit for a boss kill on a week they didn't have an opportunity to legitimately beat it (because of GM intervention), shouldn't we also give Odyssey an equal benefit of the doubt, despite the GM not assisting in their specific instance?

The Eru Echor kinship attempted to do the full clear on Saturday but after a number of attemps on Gothmog T2C, the instance bugged and they were not able to progress because some door would not let them pass. That's why they submitted a ticked and asked a GM for help. The GM was not able to resolve the issue for them and he could not reset the boss properly, and even after they wiped on purpose, the door was still bugged. Reopening the instance would have probably resolved the issue but this was of course not an option for them as the aimed for the title. So they convinced the GM that they would have been able to beat the whole encounter in 20 minutes and that's why the GM granted them both the challenge deed and the challenge chest. You can see that the challenge chest was spawned by a Game Master because it's on a slightely different position than it should be. Note that the Eru Echor kinship did not beat Gothmog T2C before so it would have been their first kill.

At least this is what I was told.

So you see it's quite hard to tell whether they "deserve" the title or not. On the one hand it is quite likely that they would have been able to beat Gothmog in that night legitimately, on the other hand they were taken the possibilty to prove it because of the bug. That's probably why Turbine decided to reset the unique title for Gwaihir.

My personal opinion: both the Eru Echor and the Avorthalier kinship do deserve the title. It's a bit sad that the title is less unique now, but it's probably the best solution for everyone.

So this kinship got a GM to give them the challenge deed complete even though they didn't complete the instance and yet Odyssey don't get theirs after actually completing the challenge in 19 minutes?

I agree with that. Nothing can be done now about your case but we can advice Turbine to do some training for support staff about new instances, especially raid T2.
When people are doing something exceptional like you which involve time, commitment, money and all this ruined by the game itself and then you get incompetent response...

I didn't mention the GM names in my original post, yet somebody else mentioned both the GM's involved in another post, so calling out by name doesn't matter as much now as everyone now knows who was involved.
Me claiming to have screenshots was not an intended attack, although it might have come across that way.

Our kin was 5/6 bosses T2C on a Thursday in August and in Gothmog we were demonstrating the strat the multiple new members as it was very late. We went through the whole fight and wiped on purpose to the last trash pull to Gothmog so we could reset as I'd shown all I wanted to show. We all noticed our quest was gone and not coming back. We tried everything to get it back wiping on all sections of it but nothing worked and the door to CD room was locked. Apparently you need to wipe on a boss or something or the fight will lock you out.

We waited a few hours trying to get through the door and then realized service hours are between 12 and 12 I think so we went to bed. I stayed up a few hours just in case and was up early. I waited until 12 the next morning and at around 12:40 my ticket was closed without a tell and I was told to submit a bug report. I had explained in detail it was a title run and we could not reset the instance and this involved 12 players so it was serious. Nothing.

I was not looking for a title grant or a chest spawn, I was just looking for lock reset or courtesy of wow this is serious sorry. We were devastated and had to wait TEN DAYS to even raid again due to locks. It was brutal lol.

We made sure to one shot it when we cleared for title on September 4th, did not want to risk happening again.

Please realise that the main cause of our resentment is the fact that the GMs demonstrated a clear lack of understanding of the mechanics coupled with a complete indifference to customer satisfaction - they couldn't even acknowledge the bug in the first place...

The outcome of a ticket is heavily dependent on which GM replies to it. This should of course not be the case, but unfortunately it is.

As Heph mention, we have come to the conclusion that the only way the Gothmog challenge resets properly is if you die to one of the bosses and wait for everyone to die before retreating. If you die to trash or by jumping to your death it doesn't seem to reset properly.
