Serves me right for not reading the content first... I don't have a riddle to give (can try to think of one) so if someone else has one, I'll give you the jacket off of my virtual back...
I was the first daughter to make my father unhappy...
FWIW, I'm not 100% on the "answer" but am going by what I quickly was able to read since my last post. I'm also using the first post's rule (if I read it correctly) that Christopher Tolkien's work (since he's editing his father's work) is usable... hint...

(Guess I'm going to have to check back, too )
Who is Galadriel? She left Valinor with the Noldor host, making her father Finarfin unhappy. (I suspect. Haven’t read all of Lost Tales).
I like that answer! In Middle Earth-chronology, that's definitely in the running (though I have a feeling Feanor's future father-in-law wasn't excited). But there's another answer I was looking for...
Who is Luthien Tinuviel, daughter of King Thingol?
He became unhappy with her when she took up with Beren, a mere mortal.
In fact he locked her up in a tree-house to keep her away from him.
Her story always reminds me of Rapunzel. Both Luthien and Rapunzel let their hair grow long as a means of escape.
This entity made terrible decisions and eventually was gone with the wind.

Aha, once again I have been taken by surprise.
I was about to respond that "No, Feanor is not the subject" ... but I got to thinking and then did some research.
And what I found was the surprise.
I did not remember that (from Tolkien Gateway) "At the moment of his death the passing of his fiery spirit reduced his body to ashes. He was the only person to die this way, for no death like his was ever seen or heard." That does not state that his spirit "blew away in the wind", but that could be surmised. It did eventually end up in the Halls of Mandos.
It is also true that he was the "Master" of those that followed him, but a slave to his terrible "Oath". And he made so many bad decisions, I can't count them.
So, I am happy to announce that you, Swanee, have won the Jeopardy! Jacket!
My original subject was Saruman. But Feanor fits the clues just as well.
Gratz!
Edit: A quick note about deciding what constitutes a correct answer.
In the OP I stated (among other things):
There will be no limits on what is allowed except that the answers have to be something written by John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, and there should only be ONE possible answer.
That is part of the fun of this Trivia game; coming up with a riddle that leads to only ONE possible answer.
I always try to do that, but when I don't, I am happy to award the Jacket to an "answer" that seems to fill the bill even if it's not the "answer" I had in mind.
Feel free to do the same.

The Second king of Rohan who's Second son became the Third. He built the Golden Hall of Meduseld. In the movie The Two Towers; Theodred's, and later Aragorn's, horse was named Brego.
As some of you may know Reaboj is my wife IRL.
She is a masterful puzzler. She does the NYT X-word every day, and if it takes her more than a 1/2 hour she is disgusted with herself.
So, she is good at solving riddles, but doesn't like to design them.
I bugged her that it was her turn, but she told me to go ahead and take her turn. She didn't want to do it.
Instead, I have decided to open it up to anyone.
So, if you have a riddle in mind and want to have a go...do it now!
We are waiting for YOU.
Men and Elves dwelt here, both have passed away.
Hobbits never came here, though they went up the way.
OK, I just edited this because I think my first guess was wrong and now I have a new guess...
What is Fornost?
Called by the elves Fornost Erain, and by Hobbits of the Shire Norbury. The former capital of the Anorian kingdom, destroyed by the Witch King, it lies at the end of the "Greenway".
And group of hobbit archers did go up the greenway to help in the war, though none returned to the Shire. And no tale tells of their fate.
