I had made a nice sized post in response to Illi...but the servers going so slow it never posted lol.

*mutters* I learnt that lesson a long time ago, I always select my entire post and copy it to my clipboard if it is reasonably long, and especially if the servers are being slow, or in maintenance/upgrades. I lost a huge write up about war leaders once. Silly white page loads, and superbly slow servers.

It's only a matter of time before this turns in to another E Creep Vent/TS. You know what I'm talking about, right? The voice program that enables nearly every Creep calls out any Freep they see... even if it's solo... only to have the zerg map in onto the Freep.

If we're going to build a new PvP community, we should do something a bit different. I'd like to see the new server be much more solo/small group friendly in contrast to the zergfest that is Elendilmir (and likely other servers). Open voice programs (like yours, Hell) may be well-intentioned but they will invariably lead to a zergtastic 'Moors like E is now.

I implore you to reconsider this. We have a chance to mold Riddermark PvP into something better than we have now. Let Vyxe and his cronies call out solo Freeps on E; let Riddermark be the server where a good solo'er/small group doesn't have to worry about 20 Freeps/Creeps arriving the moment he/she/they engage an opponent.

It happens regardless of Vent. The only way to change it is a community that respects soloers and/or a less populated community.

Erm. To be honest that one is up for debate. I am thinking about maybe splitting between two servers, however we'll see how ... E turns out for me I suppose. Private matters and all that jazz!

True, but Vent enables solo'er call-outs far more than OOC does. Ultimately the quality of play will depend on the collective play-styles of everyone on the server. My hope is that, at least for some time, we can avoid a "zerg first, ask questions later" mentality.

Edit: If there is a widely-used Creep and/or Freep Vent then I won't be PvP'ing here.

I'd be in support of a common vent server, if after a couple months a vast majority of the server preferred the small, 3-6 player groups operating somewhat independently. It will have to happen on both sides though.

If you want Illy, I heard that the funky dwarf server is looking for more smelly, grumpy, old men to PvMP with, I think you fit the bill completely! Joking! Well, call it what you'd like for now the vent server is literally a PvE server, given the fact that for at least the first 2 - 3 weeks, I imagine that will be what folks are doing.

Its always been my opinion that vent supports/encourages easy call outs. I used to join vent early moria but i stopped because basically all i heard was call outs on small groups/soloes. I hear it on both sides freeps/creeps they all call out Griz group here, or FF here. Non E players wont know who those are but they generally have 2-3 or 6 players with them. That is a small group that could have nice engagements all around the map but they get called out, next thing you know every creep/freep horses in or maps in and its all over.

Ive experienced this as a solo player, honestly i hardly even kill greenies if i see them solo. I might follow them around and harass lol but i generally dont kill unless they somehow think they can kill me... Ive seen it done to other soloers and even small group players. Its ridiculous and vent supports such things. When vent sprouted its head on E a long time ago, it was a good change on voice quality from ingame voice but eventually it just turned into easy call outs. Same on creepside. Every server has a bunch of "whiners" as i call them. Calling out every soloer that they cant kill or every small group they see and when the influx of people come in, whatever fight the group was having is over. Ive found that the "whiners" are usually raiders or gankers that dont want to fight even or even close to even odds. I respect small groups but raid on raid battles are pointless to me. Who can bring the more people usually wins.

As i posted before, if this server sees the same people from the live servers today (which it will) the zerging and call outs will persist. You cant literally expect people to change their playstyle just because the server is new. I admire CandiceAurora for offering this vent server but i am not in support of it. The only way for a change of playstyles and zerging is to actually change things. Stop raiding up and start small grouping around the map. The ettenmoors doesnt require a raid, keeps can be taken by 3-4 people honestly. I understand if there is a raid sitting in the keep you will need more people but i hope this server doesnt turn into E where creeps/freeps just **** up the whole keep take system and it becomes who can drop pull/zerg in and kill the CG/tyrant the fastest. Creeps dont need the whole map and freeps dont need to turn the whole map blue either, yeah creeps need it for maps but switch it up a little. From the post ive seen, im wary on starting on this server because im just seeing it as another E with the same zerging/drop pulling/ganking/vent. Its almost a mirror copy and thats not what we need. Its not very logical to want change but mirror the current moors and expect a different outcome. If the raiders and call out people come to this moors, it will be only a matter of time until its just like most if not all the current live servers.

Challenge yourself to solo/small group. Certain classes cant solo very well such as defiler/captain to name two. Ive seen amazing captain/minstrel captain/champ duos and defiler/reaver defiler/ba etc etc. Change it up because unless the raiders change up their playstyle this wont be any different. As we all know the famous Einstein quote. Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Lets agree to not do the same thing as live servers and just give soloing small grouping a chance. You dont need vent to small group, voice is just fine if you are talking to 3-4 other people. Definitely dont need vent to solo, i solo and never use vent. I join a raid maybe 1 time a month on average, actually i dont think ive raided in the last 2-3 months lol and have gotten tons of fights and its fun. I solo on a defiler/guard/champ honestly its alot more fun than raiding, give it a try. I know i repeated myself alot but just give soloing small grouping a try!

2 - 3 people ganking me is just as effective as a raid ...

at least with vent I can listen to people and try to avoid such areas.

People like Hells at least give me a feeling of community , and makes it seem like I am less alone.

Ok..this is not directed at anyone in particular so please don't take this personally. You people need to get your heads out of your behinds and take off the rose colored glasses. You do realise that trying to 'model' a new server to make it better than your old one is just going to breed resentment. All the moaning about how transfers ruined E etc....yeah....give it 6 months and you'll be hearing that about how old players re-rolling on Rid ruined it's opportunity to 'make something better'.

Hell...kudos to you girl My experience with voice chat is that it helps bring a community closer together and builds better fights. Until you start to get an idea of they type of community you will have everything that has been said is just fluff and fairyfloss.

By tagging itself as the 'unofficial pvp' server there is a good chance you will end up with the IPWNDUIIZLEETOWNAGEQQBBQ pre-puberty crowd. Or..you could end up with an absolutely awesome crowd of elite style players. Until the server goes live and you actually start to get the chance to pvmp you will not know.

Me.....I would love to see the older players stand back a bit. Be there, be helpful ...but let this new community grow without all the preconcieved ideas or baggage you have brought with you from your old server. Let this server form naturally.
